  • One of the problems in designing the fifth Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey(KNHNES) is the lack of an appropriate sampling frame. Due to the significant time difference, we expect eight severe sampling frame errors if we use the sampling frame obtained from the latest population and housing census that was conducted in 2005. Thus, the construction of an appropriate sampling frame for the fifth KNHNES is crucial for a successful survey. We considered the construction of a sampling frame that overcomes the limitations of the 2005 population and housing census based frame. For the construction of eight new sampling frames, we considered the use of multiple sampling frames in which the frame for the apartment households and the frame for the general households are obtained from different sources.

  • Recently, as the market for short form videos (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube) on social media has gradually increased, research using them is actively being conducted in the artificial intelligence field. A representative research field is Video to Shop, which detects fashion products in videos and searches for product images. In such a video-based artificial intelligence model, product features are extracted using convolution operations. However, due to the limitation of computational resources, extracting features using all the frames in the video is practically impossible. For this reason, existing studies have improved the model's performance by sampling only a part of the entire frame or developing a sampling method using the subject's characteristics. In the existing Video to Shop study, when sampling frames, some frames are randomly sampled or sampled at even intervals. However, this sampling method degrades the performance of the fashion product search model while sampling noise frames where the product does not exist. Therefore, this paper proposes a sampling method MF (Missing Fashion items on frame) sampler that removes noise frames and improves the performance of the search model. MF sampler has improved the problem of resource limitations by developing a keyframe mechanism. In addition, the performance of the search model is improved through noise frame removal using the noise detection model. As a result of the experiment, it was confirmed that the proposed method improves the model's performance and helps the model training to be effective.

  • In this paper, we investigate the sampling theorem for frame in multiwavelet subspaces. By the frame satisfying some special conditions, we obtain its dual frame with explicit expression. Then, we give an equivalent condition for the sampling theorem to hold in multiwavelet subspaces. Finally, a sufficient condition under which the sampling theorem holds is established. Some typical examples illustrate our results.

  • Landline telephone surveys of the population of households or individuals in Korea often use telephone directories as sampling frames. Recently, the frequency of unlisted numbers in the directories has been increased and the number of households without landline phones has become larger with a spread of mobile phones. Landline telephone coverage has currently reached to a level that raises concerns about the currently due to a coverage bias on the statistics in question. In this paper, we first present the distribution of telephone ownership in Korea and make a comparison with some selected countries. Second, we describe the characteristics of telephone directories. Next, we directly or indirectly estimate the telephone coverage rates of the frames, and show that it may nationally be lower than 65.6% based on additional information. We conclude with remarks about future studies to reduce coverage bias, including the developments of efficient random digit dialing sampling methods.

  • In this paper, a background initialization for video surveillance proposed. The proposed algorithm is that the background images are sampled n frames during ${\Delta}t$ All Sampling frames are divided by $M{\times}N$ size block every frame. Average values of pixels for same location block of the sampling frames during ${\Delta}t$t are taken. then the maximum intensity $\alpha$ and the minimun intensity $\beta$ is obtained, respecticely. The intial by $M{\times}N$ size block, then average intensity $\eta$ of pixels for the block is obtained. If the average intensity $\eta$ is out of the initial range of the background image, it is decided the moving object image, and if the average intensity $\eta$ is included in the initial range of the background image. it is decided the background image. To examine the propriety of the proposed algorithm in this paper, the accuracy and robustness evaluation results for human and car in the indoor and outdoor enviroment. the error rate of the proposed method is less than the existing methods and the extraction rate of the proposed method is better than the existing methods.

  • This study presents the results of our analysis and recommendations for process and productivity improvements. The project studied consists of a 5-story research building, with a structure of steel frames supporting concrete slabs. The observations focused on the analysis of the overall erection and framing process. The methods used for the analysis consisted in intensive visits on site, where construction processes were observed in term of resources, activities, durations, materials' handling procedures, and technology used. Back to the office, authors used the information captured to model the different trades' activities, using work sampling and 5-minute rating technique. The work sampling provides insight into the activity, hence allowing for process improvements. The productivity of various trades is strongly dependent on the organization of the work process and work site conditions. Improving the productivity of the entire project or company is not possible until everyone is committed to improvement.

  • Distributed compressed video sensing (DCVS) is a framework that integrates both compressed sensing and distributed video coding characteristics to achieve a low complexity video sampling. In DCVS schemes, motion estimation & motion compensation is employed at the decoder side, similarly to distributed video coding (DVC), for a low-complex encoder. However, since a simple BCS-SPL algorithm is applied to a residual arising from motion estimation and compensation in conventional MC-BCS-SPL (motion compensated block compressed sensing with smoothed projected Landweber) scheme, the reconstructed visual qualities are severly degraded in Wyner-Ziv (WZ) frames. Furthermore, the scheme takes lots of iteration to reconstruct WZ frames. In this paper, the conventional MC-BCS-SPL algorithm is improved to be operated in more effective way in WZ frames. That is, first, the proposed algorithm calculates a correlation coefficient between two reference key frames and, then, by selecting adaptively the reference frame, the residual reconstruction in pixel domain is performed to the conventional BCS-SPL scheme. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm achieves significantly better visual qualities than conventional MC-BCS-SPL algorithm, while resulting in the significant reduction of the decoding time.

  • In this paper, a high-speed CMOS Image Sensor (CIS) based on a 10-bit two-step single-slope A/D converter is proposed. The A/D converter is composed of both a 5-bit coarse ADC and a 6-bit fine ADC, and the conversion speed is 10 times faster than that of the single-slope A/D converter. In order to have a small noise characteristics, further, a Digital Correlated Double Sampling(D-CDS) is also discussed. The proposed A/D converter has been fabricated with 0.13um 1-poly 4-metal CIS process, and it has a QVGA($320{\times}240$) resolution. The fabricated chip size is $5mm{\times}3mm$, and the power consumption is about 35mW at 3.3V supply voltage. The measured conversion speed is 10us, and the frame rate is 220 frames/s.

  • Recently, distributed compressed video sensing (DCVS) has been actively studied in order to achieve a low complexity video encoder by integrating both compressed sensing and distributed video coding characteristics. Conventionally, a motion compensated block compressed sensing with smoothed projected Landweber (MC-BCS-SPL) has been considered as an effective scheme of DCVS with all compressed sensing frames pursuing the simplest sampling. In this scheme, video frames are separately classified into key frames and WZ frames. However, when reconstructing WZ frame with conventional MC-BCS-SPL scheme at the decoder side, the visual qualities are poor for temporally active video sequences. In this paper, to overcome the drawbacks of the conventional scheme, an enhanced MC-BCS-SPL algorithm is proposed, which corrects the initial image with reference to the key frame using a high correlation between adjacent key frames. The proposed scheme is analyzed with respect to GOP (Group of Pictures) structuring method. Experimental results show that the proposed method performs better than conventional MC-BCS-SPL in rate-distortion.
