The study on dental technicians' motivation and job satisfaction in Seoul (서울지역 치과기공사의 동기부여 및 직무만족도 연구)

  • This study was the study verifying dental technicians' motivation and job satisfaction in Seoul through the positive method as well as its purposes were to investigated the effect of dental technicians manpower supply/demand prospect on motivation, job satisfaction and the effect of other job satisfaction factors on dental technicians motivation and job satisfaction. For then, general characteristics of study objects were classified by sex, married/unmarried, age, career, salary, highest level of education, working place, position and job as well as job satisfaction factors were classified with future supply/demand prospect, future prospect, working hours, working environment and salary. We conducted a frequency analysis, crossing analysis and multi-linear regression analysis about the effect of the classified articles on motivation and job satisfaction. Also, for verifying the relationship of motivation and job satisfaction, we conducted correlation analysis and its result is as followed. First, it showed that the job related with making orthodontic appliance influenced on motivation, among the age, career and job of the general characteristics, and other jobs between working place and job influenced on job satisfaction. Second, the dark future prospect was showed to influence on motivation and job satisfaction highly so we could grasp that negative opinions are included in that. And low-paying was showed to highly influence on job satisfaction s fall so we could grasp the subjective low-salary standard at the present. But we expected that the manpower supply/demand prospect would influence on motivation and job satisfaction but there was little influence. Third, the correlation between motivation and job satisfaction was showed to be somewhat high, motivation had the standard which is above average and job satisfaction had the standard which is below the average. So with a little improving of job satisfaction, it s possible that motivation can be very high. Therefore, in rapidly changing generation, we think that the dental technicians are actively coping with the reality of low-paying and high-working. But it's implying that anxiety for uncertain future was reflected. Furthermore, because institutional strategies for dental technicians' efficient management are insufficient in relation with policies so it's necessary the policy consideration for solve the job-unsatisfying factors actively.

A Study on the Subjective Symptoms of the Printers in Chunbuk Area (전북지역 인쇄공의 심신 자각증상 조사연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the psychosomatic health status of printers. The 77 printers and 24 control group were analysed about salary, drinking, smoking, education, sex, marriage, age and working age by the THI (Todai Health Index) questionaire. THI was modified from CMI(Cornell Medical Index) and developed by Tokyo University Research Team in Japan. The resuts obtained were summarized as follows. 1. The printers, who get more salary showed high score about mental conplaints, especially, mental irritability(j), nervusness (E), lie Scale(L), aggressiveness(F) and irregualr life(G) and lower salary showed generally high score about physical complaints, especially, mouth and anus (D), digestive symptom(C) multiple subjective symptom(I). 2. According to the printers drinking amount shows the difference, eg nondrinker scored higher on mouth and anus(D), 90mg/week drinker scored higher on multiple subjective symptom(I), digestive symptom(C), depression(K), nervousness(E), and irregular life(G), 91~179mg/week drinker scored higher on impulsiveness(H), mental irritability(J), 270~359mg/week drinker scored higher on respiratory(A), lie scale (L) and aggressiveness (F). 3. The nonsmoker scored high level on mouth and anus(D), mental irritability(J). The previous smoker scored on multiple symptom(I), eyes and skin(B), digestive(C), lie scale(L), and depression(K). The present smoker scored on respiratory(A), impulsivehess(H), aggressiveness(F), nervousness(E), and irregular life(G). 4. According to the printers working age showed almost high score about subjective symptoms on 1~3 year. 5. Men printers high scored on respiratory(A). lie scale(L), aggressiveness(F), women printers scored about mental complaints, especially, impulsiveness(H), mental irritability(J), depression (K), nervousness (E). 6. According to the printers age showed high scored about, below 20 years were lie scale(L). aggressiveness(F), irregular life(G) 21~30years were multiple subjective symptom(I) respiratory (A), eyes and skin(B), mouth and anus(D), impulsiveness(H), mental irritability(J), depression (K), nervousness(E), and over 41 years were digestive(C). 7. Married printers scored high level on eyes and skin(B), digestive(C) and impulsivehess(H), and single printers on respiratory(A), mouth and anus(D), lie scale(L), mental irritability(J). 8. According to education shows the difference, eg high school scored higher on eyes and skin (B), mental irritability(J), depression(K), nervousness(E), collage and over scored higher on multiple subjective symptom(I ), respiratory (A), mouth and anus (D), lie scale (L), aggressiveness (F), irregular life (G), and middle school scored high on digestive (C), impulsiveness (H).

The Influence of Intrinsic and Extrinsic Factors on Technology Teachers' Job Satisfaction and Commitment - Centered on Secondary Teachers in Gwangju and Jeon-Nam - (중.고등학교 기술과 담당 교사의 직무만족과 교직몰입에 미치는 욕구 요인의 영향 -광주, 전남지역 중등교사를 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the influences of 5 intrinsic and 5 extrinsic factors on technology teachers' job satisfaction and commitment. The collected data from 108 technology teachers in Gwangju city and Jeolla Nam-do, were analyzed and tested at p<.05 or more by using Multiple Regression through SPSS program. The levels of the teachers' job satisfaction and commitment were respectively M=3.91 and M=3.69 at Likert scale. Among 5 intrinsic and 5 extrinsic factors, other factors except for two factors-work environment and salary were, even if a little, satisfied to the teachers. They were more satisfied with the intrinsic factors than the extrinsic. $R^2$=.515 was found between teachers' job satisfaction and the combination of 10 factors-achievement, work itself, responsibility, opportunity for growth, recognition, job safety, work environment, salary, supervision skill, human relation. $R^2$=.616 was between teachers' commitment with the combination of the factors. The combinations were respectively accountable for 51.5% of the job satisfaction change and for 61.6% of the commitment change. The relative importances of the factors were salary first, achievement second and others not for the job satisfaction, and achievement first, opportunity for growth second and others not for the commitment. The generalization of the above results is limited to improving technology teachers' job satisfaction and commitment at the secondary level in Gwangju city and Jeolla Nam-do.

Alternative hitting ability index for KBO (한국프로야구에서 타자력 지수 제안)

  • Among lots of sabermetric statistics for baseball batters' ability, the wins above replacement (WAR) is the most popular statistic in MLB. However, there exists a difficulty applying WAR to KBO, since KBO data do not have position adjustment, league adjustment and park factor which are essential in calculating WAR. In this paper, using five statistics for both KBO and MLB qualified batters, we propose hitting ability index (HAI), an alternative sabermetric indices to represent batters' ability. Comparing HAI with WAR of MLB batters, we evaluate the validity of HAI and then applied HAI to 2015 KBO data in which HAI is analyzed statistically with respect to different teams, ages, and positions. Moreover, the linear relationship between KBO batter's HAI and their annual salary is discussed. Grouping 46 KBO batters based on confidence region of the regression model for annual salary, we also statistically investigate batter's annual salary in these groups with respect to several factors.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate effect of gap between expected job and performed job on job satisfaction and turnover intention in clinical dental hygienists. A total 292 hygienist in dental hospitals and dental offices in nationwide completed a questionnaire on their daily routine job and job which they expected and measured gap between expected job and performed job, such as chairside assisting, preventive care, consultation, reception. The study showed the gap on chairside assisting job among age, career and showed the gap on consultation among age, education, career and showed the gap on reception among age, career. gap on chairside assisting, salary satisfaction, personal day affected job satisfaction and gap on chairside assisting, children, salary satisfaction affected turnover intention. The study showed that salary satisfaction and gap on chairside assisting associated with turnover intention and job satisfaction. Personal day affected job satisfaction but did not affect turnover intention.

A Study on the Job Stress Factors of Dental Hygienists (울산 일부 치과위생사의 직무스트레스 요인에 대한 조사연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate factors affecting dental hygienists's stress in order to provide dental hygienists's stress management methods. The results of this study were as follows. 1. A sample of 168 dental hygienists were selected to participate in this study. The participate of 66.1% was under 25 old years and 87.5% was unmarried. A majority of he dental hygienists's job place was clinical areas 86.9% and working experience was 1~4 years (47.6%). A average dental hygienists's salary was 1,000,000~1,500,000 won/month (63.7%). A average dental hygienists's working time was under 8 hours/day (57.1%). 5days/week (58.3%) was working and the participate of 78.0% was working on night-time. 2. Dental hygienists's stress under 25 years old was higher than over 26 years old (p < 0.05). It was found that dental hygienists was significantly related to stress from less income (p < 0.05), longer working time (p < 0.01). In job demand areas, Night-time workers (p < 0.05) and 5days/week (p < 0.05) worker was more stress than others participates. In job autonomy areas, longer working experience in present dental clinical(p < 0.01) and higher salary/ month (p < 0.01) were more stress. The job instability of unmarried dental hygienists were more stress than married subjects. In stress of organization system, longer working time/day (p < 0.05), under 25 years old (p < 0.01), high salary (p < 0.05), 5day/week (p < 0.05) dental hygienists's stress was higher than others.

  • Effects of job stress and drinking motivations on the drinking behavior of Korea's mentally challenged in sheltered employment. The purpose of this article was to investigate job stress, drinking motivations, and factors influencing the drinking behavior of Korea's mentally challenged. The 97 subjects' average job stress level was slightly below average. The subjects were found to experience salary-related stress the most out of the five sub-areas of job stress. The strongest motivations of drinking was the social motivation. In terms of drinking behavior, the most common drinking frequency was 3-4 times a year. The most common drinking amount was two 500cc mugs of beer. The significant predictors to explain the variance of the frequency of drinking was motivations to cope with, age, and salary-related stress. The mentally challenged drink more often when they have coping motivations and salary-related stress, and when they are younger. The significant predictors to explain the variance of the amount of drinking was motivations to emotional uplifting, drinking colleagues, stress from role overload. The mentally challenged drink more when they have motivations to emotionally uplift themselves and less role overload-related stress and as they drink alone.

Attitudes of Nursing Educators Toward Percussional Nursing (간호학 교수들의 간호전문직에 대한 태도 조사연구)

  • This study of nurse educator's attitudes which found aspects of professional nursing was carried out from September 10 to 30, 1977. Subjects were 205 respondents from a total population of 314 nurse educators from the level of instructors to professors in all the diploma (post high school 3 year), professional junior college (3 year level) and university (4 year) nursing schools in Korea. Specific objectives were to determine their attitudes about the 1. social position of nursing as a profession, 2. nurses attitudes towards their word, 3. factors influencing the development of nursing, 4. the future of nursing, 5. nursing educational problems, 6. their own educational position's intrinsic job satisfaction and 7. their salary and benefits. The instrument used was a questionnaire developed from consultations with nursing educators and sociologists, and based on earlier. worts by Burke (1976), Mason (1974) and Hong 1969. Data were analysis by computer using one-way analysis. Statistically significant findings included the following; 1. Responses were positive toward all seven aspects of professional nursing. 2. Compared to diploma nursing school staff whose responses were positive, professional and university school faculty response toward the social position of nursing were neutral. 3. Faculty with clinical experience of 10 to 19 years were most positive in their responses about nurses' attitudes towards their work. In all three types of schools, in comparison to professors, associate professors' responses were more positive about nurses' attitudes toward their work. Faculty with longer clinical experience expressed high agreement with statements about factors which influence the development of nursing. Without any differences between school, all faculty had positive attitudes towards the future of nursing, the younger the staff member, the more positive were the responses. 4. faculty in diploma schools and those with 10 to 19 years clinical experience expressed high agreement with statement about nursing educational problems, 6. their own educational position's intrinsic job satisfaction and 7. their salary and benefits. Determinants of Export Manufacturing Firm Efficiency: Focusing on R&D Intensity in a KOSDAQ-listed Firm (수출제조기업의 효율성 결정요인에 관한 분석: 코스닥 기업의 연구개발집약도를 중심으로)

  • This paper examines the determinants of efficiency in a KOSDAQ-listed manufacturing firm. We use Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) to estimate the efficiency of the export manufacturing firm. We employ two inputs (number of employees, equity) and one output (sales) in the DEA. The determinants of export manufacturing firm efficiency are estimated using the panel Tobit model. An analysis of 369 export manufacturing firms from 2013 to 2015 indicates the following results: First, the R&D intensity, the wage and salary intensity, total asset, and equity ratio each had a negative impact on both the CCR and BCC efficiency scores. However, export intensity had a negative impact on CCR efficiency scores in a KOSDAQ-listed total export manufacturing firm. Second, the R&D intensity had a positive impact on both the CCR and BCC efficiency scores, but export intensity, the wage and salary intensity, and equity ratio each had a negative impact on the CCR and BCC efficiency scores in a KOSDAQ-listed large export manufacturing firm. Third, the R&D intensity, the wage and salary intensity, total asset, and equity ratio each had a negative impact on both the CCR and BCC efficiency scores; respectively, in a KOSDAQ-listed small and medium export manufacturing firm.

Characteristics and Implications of Teacher Education System in Canada (캐나다 교원양성체제의 특징과 시사점)

  • This study examines the characteristics of teacher education system and professional standards of teachers in Canada through analysis of the current teacher education curriculum and salary grids of teachers in Canada. As a result, the following characteristics were found. First, contents and theories acquired during the course of teacher education are connected to the actual practice to increase the site-compatibility. Second, professional standards of teachers is rather holistic, than detailed and systematic. Based on the findings, the following implication can be drawn. To enhance the site compatibility of teachers in the Republic of Korea, it is requisite to build a persistent, and cooperative relationship among the faculty members of teacher education program, the members of the community, and supervisor teachers of practicum schools. Also, it is necessary to come up with a system that directly connects the professionalism of the teachers and the salary grids, as the salary of teachers are adjusted according to the completion of degree or courses, reflecting the professionalism.
