In this study, a wind tunnel, that has been developed for experiments of wind turbine rotor blades, has been considered. The deviations of the measurements have been examined after this wind tunnel had been introduced and the measurements on it had been explained. Two different wind turbine rotor blades miniatures have been used for getting better results from the experiments. The accuracy of measurements have been experimented three times repetitively and examined statistically. As a result, wind speed values which this type of wind tunnel and wind turbine rotors need for starting, wind speed in the tunnel, temperature and moisture values, the number of rotor's revolution, and the voltage that is produced in 102 ${\Omega}$ resistance and current values have been determined to be fixed by measurements used. This type of wind tunnel and wind turbine rotor' performance difference and the difference of revolution figures have been determined to be fixed by measurements used.
This paper presents the rotor parameter identification based on the MRAS theory and the speed estimation using ANN for the sensorless vector control of induction motor. The motor speed is estimated using ANN model which contains the rotor parameter. And the rotor parameter is identified using MRAS scheme which contains the rotor speed. The rotor speed estimate converges to its actual value as the rotor parameter error converges toward the zero. The simulation using Matlab/Simulink is performed to show the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.
This paper proposes a step-by-step method of determining the parameters of equivalent circuit which is considered the no load losses for the single phase induction motor which has the starting winding. This method is comprised of three steps, and the stator resistance which is measured by the method of voltage drop is treated as constant and the stator and the rotor leakage reactances are assumed to be the same in every step. The test results of no load and locked rotor test are used in the 1st and 2nd step, and the ratings of name plate of the motor are needed in the 3rd step. In the 1st step, the traditional equivalent circuit parameters are directly calculated by no load and locked rotor conditions. In the next step, five nonlinear simultaneous equations for five unknown parameters can be set up by no load and locked rotor equivalent circuits. These equations are solved by using the initial parameters obtained by the 1st step parameters. In the final step, three nonlinear simultaneous equations for rotor winding resistance, leakage reactance and no load losses component resistance can be set up by equivalent circuit under the rated operation. Three parameters are solved by using the 2nd step parameters. Thus, equivalent circuit parameters are gradually refined step by step. The validity of the proposed method is evaluated by comparing the computed values obtained by the equivalent circuit parameters with the experimental values of the load test.
This paper deals with a robust controller for an induction motor (IM) which is represented as a linear parameter varying systems. To do so linear matrix inequality (LMI) based approach and robust Lyapunov feedback are associated. This approach is related to the fact that the synthesis of a linear parameter varying (LPV) feedback controller for the inner loop take into account rotor resistance and mechanical speed as varying parameter. An LPV flux observer is also synthesized to estimate rotor flux providing reference to cited above regulator. The induction motor is described as a polytopic LPV system because of speed and rotor resistance affine dependence. Their values can be estimated on line during systems operations. The simulation and experimental results largely confirm the effectiveness of the proposed control.
In this paper, the electrical angle between two winding axes in the stator of the capacitor motor is put optional angle, deviding the space harmonics in its magnetic field of two windings and the leakage flux into the forward revolving field and the backward one by the revolving-field theory, its equivalent circuit which consider mutual induction between two windings is depicted. In the depicted equivalent circuit, the rotor resistance for the fundamental flux is devided into the resistance for the rotor bar and endring, and the rotor leakage reactance for the fundamental is devided into the skew leadage reactance and the other, and each circuit constants for each harmonics is expressed in terms of the circuit constants for the fundamental, so it mades easy to determine the characteristics for the capacitor motor. As the circuit constant ratios to the magnetizing reactance of the fundamental are used, motors which have same circuit constant ratios should be resembled in their characteristics.
An inverter-fed induction is driven by a harmonic voltage source so that it is necessary to be analysed by time-stepping F.E.M. But it takes so long time that disadvantageous to design. This paper presents a simple analysis method for inverter-fed induction motor using FEM and harmonic equivalent circuit. First, the rotor bar resistance and the leakage reactance are determinated by FEA for 1 slot region in rotor to consider the skin effect and the saturation. Secondly, the characteristic of the motor is analyzed by the harmonic equivalent circuits consisting of the obtained parameters from the FEA. This method is carried out to analyze an induction motor driven by the sinusoidal voltage and the inverter. The results are verified by comparing with those of the time-step F.E.A and the experiment.
Maximum Torque Per Amp (MTPA) control for induction motor drives seeks to achieve a desired torque with the minimum possible stator current. This is favorable in terms of inverter operation and nearly optimal in terms of motor efficiency. However, rotor resistance variation can cause significant performance degradation. This work demonstrates that existing MTPA controls perform sub-optimally as temperature varies. An adaptive MTPA control strategy is proposed that always achieves optimal performance without exhibiting hunting phenomenon regardless of rotor temperature. The proposed control is experimentally shown to accurately achieve the desired torque.
The precise and reliable loss model for induction motor and converter system is very important in order to predict the efficiency performance of variable speed drives. This paper proposes an accurate loss model of induction motor and converter system. The motor losses, such as stator and rotor copper loss, core loss and stray loss, are considered for fundamental and harmonic frequencies. Also considered are the skin effect on rotor resistance, temperature effect on bath stator and rotor resistance, magnetizing inductance saturation, and friction and windage loss. All the above features are incorporated in a synchronous frame dynamic d-q equivalent circuit. The converter system, consisting of a diode rectifier and PWM transistor inverter, is modeled accurately for conduction and switching losses. Validity of the models, in both steady state and transient conditions, is verified by simulations.
In this paper, the characteristics of a single phase induction motor which is considered the space harmonic flux by the double revolving field theory is analysed. As the rotor resistance for the fundamental flux is separated from the resistance for the rotor bar and end-ring, and the rotor leakage reactnace is separated from the skew leakage reactance and the other, so the circuit constants for the space harmonic flux is expressed by the circuit constants for the fundamentals. As the ratio of the circuit constants for the magnetizing reactance is used, the generalized equivalent circuit is made up. the characteristic equation which is able to analysis the subdivided characteristics by the above circuit is induced. The ratio of the circuit constants and the skew angle being changed, the variations of the torque-speed characteristics for the fundamentals and harmonics is examined by this equation.
In the indirect vector control method, the rotor resistance variation caused by operating temperature change is an undesirable nature. A new adaptation algorithm to compensate for the rotor resistance change based on the on-line estimation of field vector which requires the measurements of stator voltage and rotor speed is presented in this paper. Also minimum variance controller is presented for the adaptive control performance. This algorithm has been tested by simulating the induction machine using a digital computer and the results are discussed.
