This paper propose the implementation of robust fuzzy controller for controlling an active magnetic bearing (AMB) system with 6 degree of freedom (DOF). A basic model with 6 DOF rotor dynamics and electromagnetic force equations for conical magnetic bearings is proposed. The developed model has severe nonlinearity and uncertainty so that it is not easy to obtain the control objective. For solving this problem, we use the Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy model which is suitable for designing fuzzy controller. The control object in the AMB system enables the rotor to rotate without any phsical contact by using magnetic force. In this paper, we analyze the nonlinearity of the active magnetic bearing system by using fuzzy control algorithm and desing the robust control algorithm for solving the parameter variation. Simulation results for AMB are demonstrated to visualize the feasibility of the proposed method.
Uninterrupted power supply has become indispensable during the maintenance task of active electric power lines as a result of today's highly information-oriented society and increasing demand of electric utilities. This maintenance task has the risk of electric shock and the danger of falling from high place. Therefore it is necessary to realize an autonomous robot system using electro-hydraulic manipulators because hydraulic manipulators have the advantage of electric insulation and power/mass density. Meanwhile an electro-hydraulic manipulator using hydraulic actuators has many nonlinear elements, and its parameter fluctuations are greater than those of an electrically driven manipulator. So it is relatively difficult to realize not only stable contact work but also accurate force control for the autonomous assembly tasks using hydraulic manipulators. In this paper, the robust force control of a 6-link electro-hydraulic manipulator system used in the real maintenance task of active electric lines is examined in detail. A nominal model for the system is obtained from experimental frequency responses of the system, and the deviation of the manipulator system from the nominal model is derived by a multiplicative uncertainty. Robust disturbance observers for force control are designed using this information in an H$\_$$\infty$/ framework, and implemented on the two different setups. Experimental results show that highly robust force tracking by a 6-link electro-hydraulic manipulator could be achieved even if the stiffness of environment and the shape of wall change.

This paper presents a controller design to coordinate a robot manipulator under unknown system parameters and bounded disturbance inputs. To control the motion of the manipulator, an inverse dynamics control scheme is applied. Since parameters of the robot manipulators such as mass and inertia are not perfectly known, the difference between the actual and estimated parameters works as a disturbance force. To identify the unknown parameters, an improved adaptive control algorithm is directly derived from a chosen Lyapunov's function candidate based on the Lyapunov's Second Method. A robust control algorithm is devised to counteract the bounded disturbance inputs such as contact forces and disturbing forces coming from the difference between the actual and the estimated system parameters. Numerical examples are shown using three degree-of-freedom planar arm.

This paper deals with a robust ${\mathfrak{H}}_{\infty}$ controller design problem for waypoints tracking of large displacement unmanned underwater vehicles (LDUUVs) in Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy form. The LDUUV model uses a rudder to control its horizontal motion. We determine the order of waypoints based on their priorities and consider only surge force. A fuzzy controller in state-feedback form is taken and its design condition of is represented in terms of linear matrix inequalities. A numerical simulation is included to show the effectiveness of the theoretical development.
The controller for magnetically suspended vehicles considering the speed characteristics is presented. Generally, the attraction force of magnet is determined by input current and air gap. However, when MAGLEV runs at high speed, induced eddy currents in the rail decrease the attraction force. Thus control characteristics of MAGLEV become deteriorated. Therefore, the variation of attraction force according to speed must be considered. Thus we analyzed the speed characteristics of the magnet by FEM. Also, we study on the control characteristics according to speeds, and design the controller considering the decline of levitation force using Neural Network.
Nowadays numerous research projects are being conducted in the field of electric motors. Non-modeling of flexible connections such as couplings and the belt-pulley do not show some real behaviors. With an increase in the number of connections and drive factors, these Non-modeled modes become more important. The coupling of two electric motors, instead of one motor, in submarine propeller force is an obvious example which shows that Non-modeled vibration modes caused by flexible connections can disturb controller operation and make undesirable vibrations in the submarine body. In this paper a dynamic model of flexible connections and a completed dynamic model of two different coupled electric models is presented. A robust controller for the completed model is also amended so that the two controlling targets of a desired speed adjustment and an appropriate load division between the two motors with sufficient accuracy are achieved.
The wheel slip control systems are able to control the braking force more accurately and can be adapted to different vehicles more easily than conventional ABS (Anti-lock Brake System) systems. In realizing the wheel slip control systems, real-time information such as the tire braking force at each wheel is required. In addition, the optimal target slip values need to be determined depending on the braking objectives such as minimum braking distance and stability enhancement. In this paper, a robust wheel slip controller is developed based on the adaptive sliding mode control method and an optimal target slip assignment algorithm is proposed for maximizing the braking force. An adaptive law is formulated to estimate the braking force in real-time. The wheel slip controller is designed based on the Lyapunov stability theory considering the error bounds in estimating the braking force and the brake disk-pad friction coefficient. The target slip assignment algorithm searches for the optimal target slip value based on the estimated braking force. The performance of the proposed wheel slip control system is verified in HILS (Hardware-In-the-Loop Simulator) experiments and demonstrates the effectiveness of the wheel slip control in various road conditions.
This paper deals with the control of a horizontally placed flexible rotor levitated by electromagnets in a multi-input/multi-output (MIMO) active magnetic bearing(AMB) system. AMB is a kind of novel high performance bearing which can suspend the rotor by magnetic force. Its contact-free manner between the rotor and stator results in it being able to operate under much higher speed than conventional rolling bearings with relatively low power losses, as well as being environmental-friendly technology for AMB system having no wear and no lubrication requirements. In this MIMO AMB system, the rotor is a complex mechanical system, it not only has rigid body characteristics such as translational and slope motion but also bends as a flexible body. Reduced order nominal model is computed by consideration of the first 3 mode shapes of rotor dynamics. Then, the $H_{\infty}$ control strategy is applied to get robust controller. Such robustness of the control system as the ability of disturbance rejection and modeling error is guaranteed by using $H_{\infty}$ control strategy. Simulation results show the validation of the designed control system and the modeling method to the rotor.
In this paper, the model-matching control in the longitudinal autonomous driving system is investigated by vehicle dynamics simulation, which contains nonlinear subcomponents and simplified subcomponents. The design of the robust model-matching controller is performed by the characteristics of the 2 degrees of freedom controller, which is composed of the feedforward compensator and the feedback compensator. It makes the characteristics of tractive and brake force to be equivalent to the specific transfer function, which is suggested as the reference model. Mathematical models of vehicle dynamic analysis including the model-matching control are constructed for computer simulation. Then, simple examples on open-loop simulation without any controller and closed loop simulation with the model-matching controller are applied to check the validity of the robust controller. As the practical example, the autonomous driving system in the longitudinal direction is adopted. It is proved that the model-matching control is effective and adequate to the disturbances and the perturbations, which are shown in the responses of the change of a vehicle mass and a road gradient.
The purpose of this paper is to introduce a case study of developing a miniature biped robot. The biped robot has a total of twenty-one degrees of freedom(DOF) ; There are two legs which have six DOF each, two arms which have three DOF each and a waist which has three DOF. RC servo-motors were used as actuators. We have developed motor controller, sensor controller and ISA-interface card. Motor controller, PWM generator, can control eight motors Sensor controller is connected to eight FSR(Force Sensing Resistors). For high level controller communicate with low level controller, ISA-interface card has developed. For the stable walking, CMAC(Cerebellar Model Articulation Controller) neural network algorithm is applied to our system CMAC is robust at noise.
