  • The 3rd order nonlinear properties show Optical bleaching (Saturation) and Reverse saturation in absorption aspect, whereas Self-focusing[3][4] and Self-defocusing in refraction aspect. Optical bleaching and Self-focusing phenomena of those properties in particular can be useful to make the optical beam spot size smaller for application on the higher optical storage density. • In this paper, in order to evaluate the performance of IS-95 system reverse link in white gaussian noise and rayleigh fading environment, we suggest epochal proposal to improve computer run-time and its efficiency is verified in terms of the number of samples. MC(Monte Carlo) simulation is the most popular simulation technique lately, but MC simulation requires a number of samples at low bit error rate. Therefore, MC cannot avoid the limit of computer run-time. To alleviate these problems, we apply the suggested method called central moment technique to the reverse link of the IS-95 system and can obtain discrete probability mass functions from Nth order central moments of the less number of received signal samples than those required in MC. Continuous cumulative probability distribution function can be accurately estimated by using interpolation and the improvement effect for the number of samples is proven.

  • A new Soft Recovery Quasi-Resonant Converter (SR QRC) haying multiple order folding snubber network is proposed. It is combined with normal quasi-resonant converter with folding snubber network of which the surrounding components are composed of diodes and capacitors. The reverse recovery loss of main rectifier diode is eliminated by this method utilizing multiple resonance. The proposed converter has PWM capability with high efficiency and is suitable for high voltage and high power applications. By extension of this concept to other switching converters, a new family of SR PW QRC may be developed.

  • The development of polishing technology has enabled the production of injection molds with high quality surfaces and shapes. For products such as mobile phones which require high quality performance the use of plastic materials has many constraints such as shrinkage and deflection. The purpose of the current research is to use reverse engineering in order to find and analyze the data of a selected aspherical lens and then creating a process to design an improved lens. Additionally, the improved lenses are subject to molding analysis. In order to solve this problem, the lens construction program, Zemax, was used to analyze and optimize performance. In the case of optimization, the object was to eliminate spherical aberration and to find good MTF data. The result of the optimization data was similar to the MTF data found from a random lens. Specific resin and analysis conditions were selected and CAD modeling was done to enhance the injection molding analysis.

  • Endo- and exoproteases were used to hydrolyze Alaska pollack processing scrap. In 2 stage hydrolysis, the optimal conditions by Protamex were: temperature, $45.8^{\circ}C$; pH, 6.73; enzyme concentration, 0.11%; time, 105.5 min, whereas those by Flavourzyme were: temperature, $42.0^{\circ}C$; pH, 6.54; enzyme concentration, 0.28%; time, 20.4 hrs. But, the optimal conditions of 1 stage hydrolysis by equal proportion of Protamex and Flavourzyme were: temperature, $52.9^{\circ}C$; pH, 6.3; enzyme concentration, 0.46%; time 10.9 hrs. The contents of carbohydrate and ash were higher in the 2 stage hydrolyzate than the 1 stage, while that of crude lipid was in the reverse order. There were no significant differences in the contents of moisture and crude protein between both methods. The contents of total creatine and IMP, and viable cell counts were higher in the 1 stage hydrolyzate than the 2 stage, while the contents of TMAO, TMA, and Hx was in the reverse order. But, there were no significant differences in the contents of amino-N and color between both methods. The free amino acid contents of the 1 and 2 stage hydrolyzate were 2,741.77 and 3,529.47 mg/100 mL, respectively.

  • Ranked set sampling, as introduced by McIntyre (Australian Journal of Agriculture Research, 3, 385-390, 1952), dealt with the estimation of the mean of one population. To deal with two or more variables, different forms of bivariate and multivariate ranked set sampling were suggested. For a technique to be useful, it should be easy to implement in practice. Bivariate ranked set sampling, as introduced by Al-Saleh and Zheng (Australian & New Zealand Journal of Statistics, 44, 221-232, 2002), is not easy to implement in practice, because it requires the judgment ranking of each of the combination of the order statistics of the two characteristics. This paper investigates two modifications that make the method easier to use. The first modification is based on ranking one variable and noting the rank of the other variable for one cycle, and do the reverse for another cycle. The second approach is based on ranking of one variable and giving the second variable the same rank (Concomitant Order Statistic) for one cycle and do the reverse for the other cycle. The two procedures are investigated for an estimation of the means of some well-known distributions. It is show that the suggested approaches can be used in practice and can be more efficient than using SRS. A real data set is used to illustrate the procedure.

  • High-quality cups of deep drawing ratio of more than four cannot be simply drawn by conventional drawing and redrawing processes. In the present study, after the first deep drawing process, subsequent hydromechanical reverse redrawing with controlled radial pressure is employed. In order to increase the deep drawing ratio up to muchmore than four, the radial pressure should be controlled independently of the chamber pressure and thus an optimum forming condition can be found easily by varying the radial pressure. The process has been subjected to finite element analysis by using the rigid-platic material modeling considering all the frictional conditions induced by the hydrostatic pressure. In order to consider the pressure effect on the sheet, the pressure distributions on the flange part and the side wall part are calculated mumerically from simplified Navier-stokes equation. The comparison of the computation with the experiment has shown that the finite element modeling can be conveniently emplyed for the design of the process with reliability from the viewpoint of formability.

  • Desalination plants are generally studied with higher operating costs compared to water supply facilities. This study was conducted to reduce the cost of water production and to preserve existing water resources. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to utilize the control valves to increase maximum efficiency, thereby reducing the power of the pumps and operating costs. Specific energy consumption was shown to reduce the process operating power by up to 1.7 times from 6.17 to $3.55kWh/m^3$ based on seawater reverse osmosis 60 bar. In addition, the water intake process was divided into pre, inter, and post-according to the use method of blasting, and the water treatment process was divided into pre, inter, and post blending. In order to reduce power consumption, the blending process was combined to operate the facility, which resulted in the reduction of power consumption in the order post > pre-inter> inter blending.
