Reduced Order H$\infty$ Controller Synthesis

  • In this paper, an approach to the reduced order H$_{\infty}$ controller synthesis is proposed. This approach employs the frequency weighted model reduction whose frequency weights are deduced from the closed-loop system regarding the controller order reduction errors as uncertainties in a plant, while the resultant reduced order H$_{\infty}$ controller guarantees prescribed H$_{\infty}$ control performances.

  • New synthetic method for ibuprofen, which is a potent antiinflammatory agent, was described. Ethyl ${\alpha}-methylthio-p-isobutylphenylacetate$ was obtained from Friedel-Crafts reaction of isobutylbenzene with ethyl ${\alpha}-chloro-{\alpha}-(methylthio)acetate$ in the presence of $SnCl_4$. Ibuprofen was prepared in good yield by treatment of ethyl ${\alpha}-methylthio-p-isobutylphenylacetate$ with NaH and MeI, followed by desulfurization with zinc dust-acetic acid and hydrolysis of the resultant ethyl 2-methylthio-2-(4-isobutylphenyl)propionate.

  • The dynamic fatigue life equation is applied to uniaxial tensile test. The resultant equations far the surface energy and fracture toughness are calculated with the data from the tensile test and compared with the ones from ASTM E399 test. During the crack propagation under model loading, the material of the crack tip undergoes the process of the elastic-plastic deformation in the uniaxial tensile test. The surface energy per unit area is proportional to the ratio of plastic and elastic elongations. The calculated fracture toughness of the metals are very well coincident to the ASTM E399's test results.

  • In this paper, an automatic histogram specification method is proposed for image enhancement, Fuzzy membership value is adopted for the representation of image histogram. The desired PDF is automatically constructed by the fuzzy membership value. Fuzzy membership value is extracted from dark membership, bright membership function and original histogram. The effectual results are demonstrated by desired PDF which meet the image enhancement requirements. The performance and effectiveness are shown by the analysis and the resultant image in comparison with histogram equalization method.

  • A grounded inductor is proposed which contains only one resistor and operational amplifier. The circuit uses the inherent frequency dependent characteristic of an amplifier to simulate the inductor. A parallel resonance circuit is constructed with the proposed circuit. It has been proved by the experimental results of the resonant circuit that the proposed circuit is equivalent to the grounded lossy inductor. The lossy inductor is imbedded in a passive bandstop prototype, and the resultant characteristic curve has been verified by the experiment.

  • The microcapsules containing fragrant material as functional compound were produced by in-situ polymerization. The prepolymer was made from urea-formaldehyde(UF) and melamine-formaldehyde(MF) as wall materials of microcapsules. The effects of wall material, dispersing agent and ratio of wall material to core material on the mean diameter variation were investigated. Thermal efficiency and release behavior of microcapsules were measured. The resultant UF and MF microcapsules are capable of preserving fragrant oil for long self-life.

  • A CIM implementation case is introduced in this paper. It is accomplished through the integration of two fundamental approaches to production planning and control; JIT and MRP. The resultant system is a hybrid where some JIT methodologies prevail, but the benefits of the MRP are also required. A new BOM structure called 'Family-BOM' is designed for the load leveled production with small lot size and the synchronized production. The overall production planning concept is described with actual data.

  • The shorter the electric power line is, the less its cost becomes. In this paper, the Steiner tree is applied to find the shortest path of the electric power line to obtain resultant cost reduction. Up to 18.3[%] of length reduction can be expected compared to conventional method when the lines are connected through the Steiner points, which also can result in appreciable cost reduction.

  • In this study quantifying techniques of ELF magnetic fields arising from currunt carrying indoor-conductor are proposed. These techniques can be applied to line-conductor with finite length and any configuration. Since each component of magnetic field in rectangular axes system is seperated, the resultant magnetic field can be caculated for multi-conductor system through these techniques.

  • A diffusion-influenced pseudo-first order reversible reaction A + B ⇔C + B is investigated by the molecular dynamics (MD) simulation method. Theoretical finding that the temporal evolution of reactants [conditional probabilities] in the reversible system can be expressed by the irreversible survival probability with an effective rate parameter is confirmed even in the presence of solvent particles. We carry out molecular dynamics simulations for both the irreversible and the reversible cases to evaluate the survival and the conditional probabilities for each cases. When the resultant irreversible survival probability is inserted into the proposed relation, the conditional probabilities given by the simulation are exactly reproduced.
