A goodness-of-fit test based on Martinale residuals for the additive risk model (마팅게일잔차에 기초한 가산위험모형의 적합도검정법)

  • This paper proposes a goodness-of-fit test for checking the adequacy of the additive risk model with a binary covariate. The test statistic is based on martingale residuals, which is the extended form of Wei(1984)'s test. The proposed test is shown to be consistent and asymptotically normally distributed under the regularity conditions. Furthermore, the test procedure is illustrated with two set of real data and the results are discussed.

A Swing-Arm On-Machine Inspection Method for Profile Measurement of Large Optical Surface in Lapping Process

  • Generally, the optical components are fabricated by grinding, lapping, and polishing. And, those processes take long time to obtain such a high surface quality. Therefore, in the case of large optical component, the on-machine inspection (OMI) is essential. Because, the work piece is fragile and difficult to set up for fabricating and measuring. This paper is concerned about a swing-arm method for measuring surface profile of large optical concave mirror. The measuring accuracy and uncertainty for suggested method are studied. The experimental results show that this method is useful specially in lapping process with the accuracy of $3\~5\;{\mu}m$. Those inspection data are provided for correcting the residual figuring error in lapping or polishing processes.

  • When optimizing a complex system by determining the optimum condition of the system parameters of interest, we often employ the process of estimating the unknown objective function, which is assumed to be a second order spline function. In doing so, we normally use common random numbers for different set of the controllable factors resulting in more accurate parameter estimation for the objective function. In this paper, we will show some mathematical result for the analysis of variance when using common random numbers in terms of the regression error, the residual error and the pure error terms. In fact, if we can realize the special structure of the covariance matrix of the error terms, we can use the result of analysis of variance for the uncorrelated experiments only by applying minor changes.

Simultaneous Identification of Multiple Outliers and High Leverage Points in Linear Regression

  • The identification of unusual observations such as outliers and high leverage points has drawn a great deal of attention for many years. Most of these identifications techniques are based on case deletion that focuses more on the outliers than the high leverage points. But residuals together with leverage values may cause masking and swamping for which a good number of unusual observations remain undetected in the presence of multiple outliers and multiple high leverage points. In this paper we propose a new procedure to identify outliers and high leverage points simultaneously. We suggest an additive form of the residuals and the leverages that gives almost an equal focus on outliers and leverages. We analyzed several well-referred data set and discover few outliers and high leverage points that were undetected by the existing diagnostic techniques.

  • Nanoimprint lithography(NIL) is an emerging technology enabling cost-effective and high-throughput nanofabrication. Among NILs, significant efforts from both academia and industry have been put in UV NIL research and development because of its ability to pattern at room temperature and at low pressure. In UV NIL, there may be in-line set-up error of the stamp and the substrate. To compensate this error, the dummy blocks are put on the stamp and pressurized uniformly. Contact problems between the stamp and the photoresist layer on the substrate are often happened, which results in the non-uniform residual layer In this paper, the pressurization method on the dummy block is investigated by the finite element method. A new method is recommended and evaluated far the uniform stamp deformation.

Algorithm for Concatenating Multiple Phonemic Units for Small Size Korean TTS Using RE-PSOLA Method

  • In this paper an algorithm to reduce the size of Text-to-Speech database is proposed. The algorithm is based on the characteristics of Korean phonemic units. From the initial database, a reduced phoneme unit set is induced by articulatory similarity of concatenating phonemes. Speech data is read by one female announcer for 1000 phonetically balanced sentences. All the recorded speech is then segmented by phoneticians. Total size of the original speech data is about 640 MB including laryngograph signal. To synthesize wave, RE-PSOLA (Residual-Excited Pitch Synchronous Overlap and Add Method) was used. The voice quality of synthesized speech was compared with original speech in terms of spectrographic informations and objective tests. The quality of the synthesized speech is not much degraded when the size of synthesis DB was reduced from 320 MB to 82 MB.

  • The express/intercity bus models have been developing for wheelchair users to provide the preferable long-distance travels by the Korean government research. In the previous studies, evaluation method was set up for the wheelchair users' safety and the study for wheelchair occupants' safety was performed under various crash loadings mimic to real accidents, frontal crash, side impact and rollover, etc. This study was focused on the evaluation of occupant behaviors and injuries (head and chest) during vehicle impact loading cases in order to ensure the safety of wheelchair passengers in the bus. The occupant response and belt loading data during the sled FE simulation were compared with those of the sled test. The simulation results showed overall safety tolerances of wheelchair occupants under the severe frontal deceleration, side impact loading based on the FMVSS 214 configuration and bus rollover loading.

  • This paper discusses an on-line fuzzy dynamic model(FDM) identification of nonlinear processes for the design of fuzzy model based fault detection and isolation(FDI). The dynamic behavior of a nonlinear process is represented by a fuzzy aggregation of a set of local linear models. The identification is divided into two procedures. The first is the off-line identification of membership function. The second is the on-line identification of the local linear models. Then, we propose a residual generation scheme based on the parameters of local linear models and show that the scheme can be used for the design of FDI

  • Backstepping procedures for output-feedback of nonlinear systems are considered. For these systems, a sliding mode cascade observer to estimate derivatives of the output is builded. In the 1st step of the observer, the output is estimated, and the 1st order derivative of the output is estimated via the 2nd step of the observer. Also, n-th order derivative of the output is estimated in the n+1th step of the observer. Observer errors and tracking errors converge to a residual set close to zero asymptotically.

  • A nonlinear adaptive speed observer is designed for the sensorless control of induction motors. In order to design the speed observer, the measurements of the stator currents and the estimates of the rotor fluxes are used. The sliding mode cascade observer is designed to estimate the time derivatives of the stator currents. The open-loop observer is designed to estimate the rotor fluxes and its time derivatives using the stator current derivatives. The adaptive observer is also designed to estimate the rotor resistance. Sequentially, the rotor speed is calculated using these estimated values. It is shown that the estimation errors of the corresponding states and the parameters converge to the specified residual set. It is also shown that the speed controller using these estimates is performed well. The simulation examples are represented to investigate the validity of the proposed observers for the sensorless control of induction motors.
