All kinds of environmental problems are related to each local and geographical environment. For this reason, it is necessary for schools in each region to provide environmental education which suits the geographical character of their particular region. In order to provide solutions to the environmental problems of each school's geographic region, the goal of this research is as follows: 1. We can make students realize the relationship between the human race and the environment by teaching according to the environmental conditions in each local area. 2. By teaching students about the problems in their own local environment, we can increase their concern about the state of their local surroundings. 3. When teaching about the environment, it is useful to use educational material which suits the character of each local region. 4. Students' interest in environmental preservation can be aroused through extracurricular environmental activities. The ares concerned are Chonnam and Kwangju City, which are divided into urban, industrial, rural, coastal, and mountainous areas. The conclusion about considering environmental education in environmental school social studies is as follows: 1. Kwangju and Chonnam should be divided into five sections, each with similar geographical environments. This will be an improvement over the old uniform approach to environmental studies in which all regions were treated as being the same each region will now receive special attention. 2. It is necessary to maximize the efficient use of the Environmental Education Building. When Media, environmental data and special materials for environmental education are used effectively, teachers can lead class effectively and students will be more interested in the class. 3. We can detect the cause of pollution, increase interest in the environment and easily solve environmental problems by collecting and displaying environmental educational materials. 4. An environmental education corner could boost students' interest in environmental problems and could act as a kind of bridge between theoretical and practical education. 5. Media and environmental data must be specialized according to the geographic character of each region. In this way, we can expect to improve the quality of environmental education over the simplistic environmental education of previous years. 6. Students will become interested in the problems of the region in which they live through social studies, and primarily through the environmental curriculum. 7. We can prevent learning deficiencies by making a consistent teaching plan. The teaching and learning methods will be improved and the teachers will be proud of what they teach. 8. The purpose of the Education Procedure Content Analysis is to make teaching and learning concise and easy by systematizing environmental and related subjects. This can be done by adding an environmental unit to the geographic section of social studies. 9. Citizens' interest in their own residential environment can be increased through action by sustaining environmental preservation movements to local region people.

The rapid economic development induced the massive road constructions, becoming bigger and high-speed of the vehicles. However, it brings lots of social problems, such as air pollutions, traffic noise and vibration. Special concrete block for the base course of asphalt pavement is needed to decrease traffic noise such as tire's explosive and vehicles sound, applying Helmholtz Resonators theory to asphalt pavement. If it is applied to the area where it happens considerable noise such as a junction, the street of a housing complex and a residential street, it is one of considerable method to solve the social requirements of noise problem. This research examines couple of laboratory tests for the sound absorption effect of the concrete block and the base concrete block. There are specimens which is fixed hall-size, space, depth as the condition of this research, and these are analysed of noise decrease effect using different condition of the first noise of each vehicle. As a result of analysis data according to vehicle noise volume, measurement distance, a form and size of the hall using the base concrete block, the use of special concrete base showed a good alternative solution for decreasing traffic noise level, from 4 dB to 9 dB.

We investigated the extent of recognition and the rate of class practice on the contents relevant to the environmental education in the units of 'Clothing Life' of the 7th 'Technology-Home Economics' curriculum in Korean middle school teachers. Two hundred sixty teachers, who had taught the units of 'Clothing Life' and responded to the questionnaires by mail from December 2007 to January 2008, were enrolled and each item in the questionnaires was analyzed in this study. Most teachers recognized the serious environmental issues in their residential area resulting in a harmful influence on their lives. Also they exhibited increased practice will such as joining to the environmental organizations and showed high practice of the environmental preservation. They commented relatively high rate of class practice on the contents relevant to the environmental education and enhanced practice of the environmental preservation in all units of 'Clothing Life' of the 7th 'Technology-Home Economics' curriculum except the units of 'Clothing Skill and Dress Clothes' and 'Simple Clothes Making'. Moreover, teachers with higher age and longer teaching career had the higher level of recognition and the greater rate of class practice on the environmental education compared to those without. Teachers should try to raise the students' recognition and practice will on the environmental issues in the class of 'Clothing Life' of the 7th 'Technology-Home Economics' curriculum in Korean middle school.

This study investigated the influence of life satisfaction, accomplishment value, peer attachment, and relationship with teachers on the self-esteem of adolescents in three time points. The study population consisted of a nationally representative sample of middle school 1st grade students who completed the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey(KCYPS) of the National Youth Policy Institute in 2010, 2012, and 2014. Descriptive statistics used included frequency, percentage, average, and standard deviation; in addition, reliability, repeated measure ANOVA, and regression results were reported using SPSS statistics. The results were as follows. First, this study showed that the longitudinal changes of self-esteem, life satisfaction, accomplishment value, peer attachment, and relationship with teachers were significantly different across three time points. Second, longitudinal changes in adolescents' self-esteem, life satisfaction, peer attachment, and relationship with teachers differed by gender, but accomplishment value did not. Third, life satisfaction was the most influential to self-esteem and peer attachment was the second most influential in the three data sets after controlling for gender, parents' academic attainment, and residential area. The influence of life satisfaction on self-esteem decreased across the three time points, but that of peer attachment increased over time. Instruction on life satisfaction and peer attachment needs to be more highlighted in Home Economics classes to enhance the self-esteem of adolescents.

In this study, the faunae before and after creating the Solbangjuk Wetland Ecological Park located in Jecheon-city were compared. As a result, the change of the fauna according to the creation of the park showed the phenomenon that the species having the strong wilderness are reduced and the rate of general species become higher. In addition, the species which receive the restrictions for moving such as mammals, amphibians and reptiles are being gradually decreased by the increased visitors owing to the creation of the park. Moreover because there was the case where group of fishes have died caused by discharging and working the water in the reservoir during the creation process of the park, the supplementation work for this is required. However, it showed that the insects sucking the honey from flowers in the composed flower garden after creating the park, and the aquatic insects which live in this park that the stable water system for the growth of wetland plants is maintained, are increased, respectively. As a result of this survey, because the reservoir for agriculture adjacent to the residential area is generally small, the securing of the habitat space for the wild animals living in this park when creating the ecological parks seems to be necessary. The countermeasure should be considered so that some areas of the reservoir can be maintained in their natural state by adjusting the visitors' trails and the position of facilities for in order to secure the habitat of the wild animals.
This study focused on changes in form and spatial uses of Urban Hanok in Bukchon, Seoul. There are 10 representative cases which have been renovated through the policy of 'Preservation & Regeneration of Bukchon' by Seoul metropolitan government and other experts. Changes in form and spatial uses of Urban Hanok in Buckon are as follows. First, Changes of scale. Trough removing extension parts, facade of renovated Hanoks are 'transformed' into recovering their identity. Using basements or lofts, intensive application of spaces is transformation which promotes the vitality of Hanoks. Second, changes of space organization. As Hanok changes its function from residence to commercial or cultural use, il a1so changes space character or reorganizes space organization. It is important that deciding function of Hanok has to adjust its scale and organization. Third, changes of construction performance. Through introducing new material and constructing method, performance of wall has been changed respecting its wooden structure and interior-exterior figure. However, technical studies must back it up not to destroy its value of eco-friendly architecture. Fourth, changes of facility systems, like floor heating system. They changes floor level of Hanok equally, and then sections of Hanok have became simple. Furthermore, inserting new facility space, such as boiler room, stand-up kitchen, bathroom and toilet, organization of space also changed. It is necessary that wise alternative proposal through the method of transformation or mutation must be presented. These four changes can be classification into method of 'transformation' and 'mutation'. Changes of scale are method of transformation and changes of space organization are method of mutation. Also, while changes of construction performance are mutation, changes of facility systems are transformation. Recently, as price of lots have been increased, a lot of Hanoks have been commercialized. Thc commercial energy threat 'the identity of Bukchon as residential area'. From now on, to operate 'identity' and 'vitality' complementary, it is necessary to make up for the preservation policy of Hanok and consolidate renovating standards of Hanok which correspond to character of particular region and building usage.

The purpose of this study is to review that the VE techniques can be used as a selection tool of borrow pit locations. The analysis of the soil investigation report is performed for the selection of proposed borrow pit site on a large-scale residential development area. Possible earthwork volume of mining is estimated and the weighting matrix evaluation is applied to the VE techniques. After determining the evaluation items for VE assessment, important degree was calculated. The Rating and evaluation of performance is carried out on a proposed borrow pit site. And, development priority has to be decided for a proposed borrow pit sites. As a result, the relative construction cost is closely related to the haulage distance. As the haulage distance increases, the relative construction cost will be increased. Therefore, it was confirmed quantitatively that haulage distance has a significant impact on the select of borrow pits. Also, it was found that the condition of borrow pits itself is important, but it cannot be ignored the impact of the life cycle cost for the selection of optimal borrow pit sites.
This study investigates the differences among residental areas in the health, standard of living, and social relationships of female elderly living alone. The total of 501 subjects(185 from rural areas, 159 from fishing communities, 77 from the islands, and 80 from urban areas) were questioned from May to July, 2006. The research area was confined to Chungcheong Province. The female elderly living alone of this study were an average of seventy-three years old, had a low cost of living, and received little formal school education. Over sixty percent(60.3) of them lived on less than thirty dollars a month which was the recognized Korean poverty level in 2006. The female elderly living alone were evaluated as being in good health, but they themselves perceived their health as being poor. Observed by residential areas, the subjects in urban areas were lower in ADL, and both the urban dwellers and the islanders appeared to be higher in their satisfaction with medical services as compared to those in rural areas and fishing communities. The fishing villagers showed the lowest standard of living for female elderly living alone. The analysis of social relationships as seen in the different residental areas revealed that the female elderly living alone g in urban areas tended to be receiving social supports rather than providing for others, and subjects living in fishing areas and the islands proved to be relatively higher in the exchange of social supports. In relation to offspring, the female elderly living alone in urban areas had a lower frequency of meeting with their children and also a lesser degree of intimacy with them because they lived at a distance. On the other hand, subjects living in rural areas and fishing communities had a higher frequency of meeting with their children and a greater degree of intimacy with them even if they lived at a distance. The study also showed that the female elderly living alone in the islands had a higher frequency of once meeting per three week with their offspring and a higher degree of intimacy with them because they all live in the same islands. In conclusion, the subject living in urban areas appeared to be isolated from their offspring as compared to the other seniors in the study. The female elderly living alone in urban areas suffered from an insufficient network of relatives and neighbors, and they experienced a poor quality of relationships to their offspring. Almost all of the lone seniors in the study had a low score in social activities; however, the female elderly living alone in urban areas revealed a higher level of participation in volunteer activities, group activities, and educational activities. Nevertheless, the lone seniors living in urban areas were not satisfied with their participation in social activities. The subjects living in rural in fishing communities and the islands showed more participation in money-making activities. This study suggests that the policies for female elderly living alone should reflect the differences of regional characteristics.
To prepare for the changes in the future, this study considered people in their seventies and eighties in rural areas in the last decade. Based on a survey of rural life by the Rural Development Administration, all factors were analyzed using SAS ver. 9.3. The rate of rice farming decreased, and vegetable-cultivation increased from 8.4% in 2001 to and 26.6% in 2008 for people in their seventies and eighties. The number of family members decreased to 1.96 in 2010 from 2.04 in 2001, and annual income increased by KRW 20-29 million for those in their seventies and eighties, whereas it was more than KRW 30 million for those in their forties. Bathing with warm water increased to 88.9% from 69.8%, and household waste treated by self-incineration decreased from 86.4% to 40.0% in the last decade. Separate collection spread since 2008. Food waste disposal and the burial (46.0%) showed had for people in their seventies and eighties, and animal feed increased (50.7%) for those in their forties at 2001. The separate collection increased by 39.6% in 2010 for those in their seventies and eighties and by 53.5% for those in their forties(p<0.05). The manufacture of jang and kimchi showed were little annual changes for people in their seventies and eighties. Food storage processing was higher for those in their forties. For those in their seventies and eighties, food group intake over the 2004-2010 period increased from 3.3 times a week to 4.2 times a week for protein foods and from 4.9 times a week to 5.5 times a week for vegetables. There was no change in fruits, milk, and seaweeds for those in their seventies and eighties, but there was an increase for those in their forties. The results suggest the continued increase in the manufacture of jang and kimchi and protein and vegetable intake for those in their seventies and eighties. Some direction to welfare, mechanized rice planting and living with neighbors together would be continued with good nutrition for elderly residents.
