20세기 서구 남성 수염 스타일의 상징적 가치 (The Symbolistic Values of Western Beards' Style in the Twentieth Century)

  • The purpose of this study is to research the symbolistic values of western beards' style in the twentieth century. Namely, it is to consider the relationship between social-cultural factors and aesthetic meanings of western beards' style. The contents are, firstly, studying the conception and the types of beard. A beard is the hair that grows on a person's chin, cheeks, neck, and the area above the upper lip. At the World Beard & Moustache Championships, there are moustache category (natural, english, hungarian, dali, fu manchu, freestyle), beard category (natural, musketeer, goatee, sideburns, freestyle), and full beard category (natural, garibaldi, verdi, van dyck, freestyle), Secondly, this paper is continued by researching the history of beard from the ancient to the present day, and thirdly, analyzing political dictatorship, social resistance and expression of personality, religious dignity, related with the change of world situation, the formation of postmodern anti-culture and pop-culture, and the coexistence of traditional culture. There are long and bushy full beards in some religions like Hinduism, Judaism and Islam. The meanings of their beards are purity, life and holiness. The beards of some politicians symbolize dictatorship. Namely, the chaplin of Hitler, the moustache of Hussein and the musketeer of Castro express strong power and charisma. In 1950s'-70s' subcultures, Hipsters' goatee, Bikers' horseshoe, Beat generations' goatee and Hippies' natural represent the lack of adaptability and social resistance. Also, the celebrities and artists like Ronald Colman, Clark Gable, Don Johnson, George Clooney, and Salvador Dali express freedom, personality, and taste with beards. For that matter, the symbolistic values of beards' style in the twentieth century are the religious dignity, the political dictatorship, the social resistance and the expression of personality. Today the beards' style is one of fashion items as well as a symbol of masculinity, customs and classes.

  • 본고는 객관주의적 지식이 편만한 AI 시대에, 인간의 내면을 형성하는 영성적 가르침의 필요성과 가능성을 "관상적 가르침(contemplative pedagogy)"을 중심으로 탐구한 논문이다. 이를 위하여 본 고는 먼저 AI의 객관적 인식론의 특성과 AI 시대 학교교육의 방향을 고찰하고, AI 시대의 시대적 요청으로서의 영성 및 영성적 가르침의 필요성과 성격을 탐구하였으며, 이를 실제적으로 실천하고 있는 관상적 가르침을 통해서 일반학교 에서의 영성적 가르침의 실현 가능성을 탐색하였다. 연구 결과 본고는 영성적 가르침이 종교학이나 신학과 같은 특정 영역만의 전유물이 아니라, 3인칭의 지식이 편만한 오늘과 같은 시대에 모든 학교와 교육의 현장에서 구현되어야 할 가르침이라고 하는 것과, "관상적 가르침"이야말로 대표적 영성적 가르침의 하나라고 하는 것을 발견하였다. 더 나아가 본고는 추후적으로 관상적 가르침 외에도 다양한 영성적 가르침의 모델들이 개발되고 실천될 필요성이 있다는 것 또한 발견하였다.

Tree Diversity, Population Structure, Regeneration and Conservation Status in Sacred Groves of Jhargram District, South-West Bengal, India

  • Sacred groves are large areas of virgin or human-modified landscape with a diverse range of species that have been protected by local people for centuries due to cultural, religious beliefs, and taboo that the deities live in them and protect the villagers from various calamities. The present study was carried out for quantitative analysis of diversity, population structure, regeneration and conservation status of tree species in the four 36.86 ha sacred groves of Jhargram district in West Bengal. Tree species composition, population structure and regeneration status were analyzed by randomly establishing of 1 ha subplots within the sacred groves. Density, frequency, basal area, abundance, evenness, and other diversity indices were calculated for adult trees with girth at breast height (GBH) >31 cm. A total of 146 tree species belonging to 116 genera distributed in 44 families from 21 orders were recorded. Pterospermum suberifolium, family Malvaceae showed the highest Species Importance Value Index (SIVI, 21.33) and Fabaceae showed the highest Family Importance Value Index (FIVI, 35.59) values respectively. Individuals are categorised into three groups, seedling, sapling and adult based on girth classes. The majority of tree species exhibited good (52.74%) regeneration followed by fairly (24.66%), poor (15.75%) and no regeneration (6.85%) respectively. With the healthy existence of the sacred grove, the overall population structure of tree species showed a strong regeneration potential. The current data will be useful in determining the current status of tree species and will be used by the forest department, politicians, and conservationists to establish management plans for the conservation of priority species in the region. Since the study areas were sacred groves, tribal members were keen to preserve them due to their religious significance.

베트남 민화연구 서설 (An Introduction to Vietnamese Folk Paintings)

  • This paper offers a brief introduction to Vietnamese folk paintings. The discussion compares Vietnamese folk paintings with the Korean folk painting tradition. Among the main purposes of this paper is the exploration of directions for future research on Vietnamese folk paintings. Vietnamese folk paintings, although extensively influenced by their Chinese tradition of minjian nianhua (folk New Year pictures), form an independent tradition, reflecting the local lifestyle and religious practices of Vietnam. However, compared to Korea or Japan, China remains the dominant source of influence for Vietnamese folk paintings. They were either created using a combination of painting and woodblock printing techniques, which was also the case with minjian nianhua, or using multicolor woodblock printing techniques. In cities like Hang Chong, the combination of painting and woodblock printing techniques was used mainly, following the customary practice in Yangliuqing in Tianjin, China, in which colors were added to the drawing printed from the woodblock. Meanwhile, folk paintings produced in rural areas such as Dong Ho are wholly color woodblock prints, similar to minjian nianhua from Yangjiabu in Weifang. In Lang Sinh, simple drawings, intended for casual purposes, were also created using the combination of woodblock printing and painting techniques. Folk paintings produced in cities and rural areas were distinct from each other, not just in techniques, but also in terms of style and theme. Vietnamese folk paintings show a certain degree of thematic similarity with Joseon folk paintings. This is mainly due to the fact that the two countries' folk paintings developed and evolved in parallel with their Chinese counterparts, minjian nianhua. Also noteworthy is the fact that Vietnamese folk paintings, while they share the simplicity and candidness of Joseon folk paintings, are at the same time somewhat more decorative than the latter. For best results, future research on Vietnamese folk paintings should be conducted together with research on minjian nianhua. Traditional pigments constitute an important area of research in this field. Attention should be also paid to the religious paintings of ethnic minorities in Vietnam, as they are discovered in the future.

조선왕릉 태릉(泰陵)의 역사경관림 변화와 관리방안 (A Study on the Change and Management of Historical Landscape Forest of Taeneung, Joseon Dynasty Royal Tomb, Seoul, Korea)

  • 본 연구는 2009년 세계문화유산으로 등재된 조선왕릉 중 태릉을 대상으로 능침공간, 제향공간, 전이공간, 진입공간으로 공간을 구분하고, 과거 문헌고증을 통해 능 조영 당시 능의 좌우 및 후면에 식재된 원식생을 파악하였다. 태릉의 공간별 원식생 경관 중 능침공간의 능선 주변, 제향공간, 전이공간은 소나무로 추정하였고, 진입공간은 오리나무로 추정하였다. 태릉의 현존식생은 소나무림이 50.3%로 가장 넓게 분포하였고, 낙엽활엽수림은 33.7%로 갈참나무, 상수리나무, 신갈나무가 주요 출현종이었다. 식재지는 7.9%로 주요 수종은 소나무와 잔디 등이었다. 태릉 식물군집구조는 총 108개 조사구를 설정하여 총 4개의 공간으로 구분하였다. 공간별로 조사구의 상대우점치를 분석한 결과, 능침공간 현재 우점종은 소나무이었지만, 소나무는 도태되고, 상수리나무의 세력이 확대되고 있었으며, 소나무림이 갈참나무로 천이가 진행되고 있었다. 제향공간, 전이공간은 소나무가 도태되고 있었으며, 참나무류의 세력이 확대되고 있었다. 진입공간 우점종은 소나무, 갈참나무이었으며, 원식생인 오리나무가 사라지고, 소나무와 갈참나무로 변화되었는데, 이 지역은 점토질 토양으로 장기적으로 소나무는 도태될 것으로 판단되었다. 태릉의 과거식생(추론)과 현존식생을 비교 분석하여 식생경관관리 목표와 방안을 제시하였다. 식생경관관리 목표는 생태적 특성 및 식생변화를 분석하여 공간별 역사경관림에 부합하는 경관유지 및 복원을 목표로 하였다. 능침공간은 소나무림과 소나무식재지로 유지 관리하고, 기타 참나무류림을 소나무림으로 복원, 제향공간은소나무림과 소나무식재지로 유지관리하고, 참나무류림을 소나무림으로순차적 복원, 전이공간의 소나무림은 유지 관리하고, 참나무류림은 소나무림으로 복원, 진입공간은 순차적으로 오리나무림으로 복원하는 것으로 제시하였다.

영성(영적 경향성)이 대학생에서 우울과 심리적 안녕감에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Spirituality on Depression and Psychological Well-Being in Undergraduate Students)

  • 본 연구는 영성이 어떠한 대처방식을 통해 우울과 심리적 안녕감에 영향을 미치는지 알아보기 위해 경기도 소재의 대학생 320명을 대상으로 연구를 수행하였다. 영적 안녕 척도, 스트레스 대처방식 척도, 심리적 안녕감 척도, 우울 척도를 이용하여 대상자들을 평가하였으며 Pearson 상관 분석, 회귀 분석을 이용해 자료를 분석하였다. 영성은 심리적 안녕감, 적극적 대처방식과는 정적 상관관계를 우울과는 부적 상관관계를 보였다. 실존적 안녕은 우울과는 부적 상관관계를 종교적 안녕은 심리적 안녕감에 정적인 상관관계를 나타냈다. 영성이 영향을 미치는 각각의 변수에 대해 더욱 자세히 알아보기 위해 단순회귀분석을 시행하였고 영성은 우울에 부적으로 유의미한 영향을 주었다. 그 중 실존적 안녕이 우울에 유의미하게 부적 영향을 미쳤으며 종교가 있는 군과 남자 군에서 더욱 설명력이 높았다. 영성이 심리적 안녕과 스트레스 상황 시 적극적인 대처방식에 정적으로 유의미한 영향을 미쳤다. 결론적으로, 본 연구에서는 실존적 영성이 적극적 대처방식을 통해 우울과 심리적 안녕감에 긍정적 영향을 미치는 것을 확인 하였다. 이를 근거로 실존적 영성을 활성화 하는 치료적 개입을 통해 환자의 정신건강에 도움을 줄 수 있겠다.

경북 동해안 지역 식생활 문화에 관한 연구(II) - 제례 음식 - (The Study of Dietary Culture in East Cot Area in Kyungpook Province (II) - for Sacrificial Rites Foods -)

  • The several sacrificial rites foods in east coast areas Kyungpook province, Pohang, Youngduk, and Uljin, were surveyed. For the anniversary menorial service, the food items in these reas were mainly rice(Bab'), soup(Guk'), stew(Tang'), fruits, neats and fishes, alcohol which are the typical food items for any other area in Korea. In this east coast area, the seaweed was used more often than in inner land area for this rite food. Four kinds of rice cake(Ddeok' or Pyun') were surveyed for this rite. For the baked food item(Geuk'), the fish squid and the Alaska pollack were used frequently for Geuk'. For the fruits dishes, 3 items were the basic. Tang' which was made with the various fishes, were used very frequently. For the religious memorial service for god to guard the household, the displayed food items were different from depending on the type of the god to guard the household, however, the general display of the food items was almost the same as in land area. For the winter sacrificial rite, the boiled rice(97%) and Bakpyun' was used mostly for the Ddeok'. For the Guk', bean sprout was used mostly, however, the seaweed soup was also used(7%). The fish Tang' was the most used one(35%). For young-deung-je', which implied th safe guard of the household, most of the food items are similar to those of the normal sacrificial rite, however, the fishes which were not fishy were used. The housekeeper arranged the rite to catch a large amount of the fishes and to hope the wellbeing of the household, Poong-yer-je is so called as Byul-sin-gud'(a practice of an exorciser). The food items for this Poong-yer-je' were almost similar to those of the winter sacrificial rite, however, Geulpyun' was mostly used for the Pyun'. In addition that, the red-bean Si-ruddock', Baekpyun', and Yung-ddock'(a dragon cake) were used for this rite, At the end of the sacrificial rite, Yong-ddock' was served to the dragon king which was believed in sea.

주거환경개선지역 주민의 인지 및 애착 장소에 관한 연구 - 광주 양림동 지역 사례연구 - (Awared and emotionally attached places of residents living in a housing improvement district of Yanglim Dong, Kwangjoo)

  • Necessity of paradigm change has been awared in urban redevelopment especially, in housing regeneration from uniform scratch without serious consideration about resident's lives to holistic approach based on local culture and residents' participation. The purpose of this research was to identify community places recognized and attached by residents of a housing improvement district which was scheduled to be changed for improvement of the area, in near future. This research itself was considered as an resident participation technique. Group interview at a field site was carried as the main research methodology. As results, valuable places cherished by residents were identified. Most of them could be explained in relation to religious leadership, traditional cultural heritage and democratic movement. In regeneration process those places which have a strong tie with residents needs to be deliberately considered as a target to be preserved rather than demolished. The places also play a role in diffusing a livable village making movement. The result is expected to be used to make a cognitive and emotional community map of residents which is meaningfully differentiated from just a physical and geographical map. The places, place recognition activities and diffusion movement for common appreciation can be a basic foundation for residents participation in improving their housing neighborhood environment, and in creating value added strategies for the area.

양로원 생활의 장단점에 관한 연구 -농촌지역 중류층 유료시설을 중심으로- (Conveniences & Inconveniences of Living in Residential Care Facilities Focused on Middle Class Paid Facilities in Rural Area-)

  • This study has been performed to explore conveniences and inconveniences of daily lives in rural residential care facilities among the elderly residents. In this study, five males and seven females aged 68 to 78 were asked about socio-familial and physical aspects of their daily lives in the facilities such as meals, social activities, family visits, recreation, and health care. The answers of the qualitative interview were drawn as follow; first, the residents perceived well planned regular meals and snacks, free visits of friends, regularly supervised daily sanitary activities, periodic outdoor activities, education programs provided by religious experts, and pastoral farming lives as most convenient aspects of the retirement facilities. In addition, some felt that facility life made them free of familial conflicts, while others appealed fear of being forgotten because of distant location. On the other hand, they perceived the supervised group activities and meals as major inconveniences. They also felt persistently depressed when closely observing serious illness or deaths of their co-residents. Therefore in this study, suggestions were made as follows: first, combination of normal family life and retirement facility should be developed in the mixed form of community welfare center and shared home. Second, intensive medical care facilities should be in collaboration with the retirement facilities, so that the residents are relieved from stressful contacts with extremely ill patients in the residential area.

Sri Autobindo Center Guest House 디자인에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Sri Autobindo Center Guest House Design)

  • The Sri Autobindo Learning Center(SALC) is sponsoring the development of a passive solar village in Creston, Colorado, Situated near the Sangre de Cristo mountains, Savitri Village will be one of several religious communities in the area. This village will incorporate 12 permanent residences and teaching and guest facilities for fifty to one hundred people. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the passive solar elements and performance of guest house at the Sri Autobindo Learning Center(SALC). To do this evaluation, the following tasks needed to be addressed. 1. the guest house design 2. the location of weather data 3. The determination of the building heating load As part of the evaluation process, guest house design will be modified and the building load and solar saving recalculated. This process will be completed until the building performance is deemed satisfactory. The conclusion is as follows; The high solar savings fraction predicted by SUNCODE should taken as an indication that further design changes would probably not be cost effective. But adding removal overhangs or other low costs measures to increase comfort in the summer appear to be appropriate.
