  • In order to investigate the shear characteristics of earth structure after construction. Four sample soils with different gradation were selected and compacted under the optimum moisture content and the maximum dry density. And the direct shear test and the triaxial compression test were performed with those sample soils under various pre-compression loads. The results were summarized as follows; 1. With the increase of the percent passing of No. 200 sieve, the cohesion of soil increased regularly and the internal friction angle of soil decreased with slow ratio. 2. The pre-compression increased the shear strength of compacted cohesive soil. The increase of cohesion was very apparent but the internal friction angle didn't show such regular tendency. 3. With the increase of pre-compression load, the slope of stress-strain curve showed steep at the early stage of horizontal strain. The vertical strain was small at the compression stage and big at the expansion stage. 4. When the vertical stress of shear test with increase in the horizontal strain was small, stress ratio(shear stress vs. vertical stress) of sample showed the largest value and the slope of stress ratio curve showed also steep. 5. When the sample was had the same condition, the cohesion of soil showed bigger value in the triaxial compression test and the internal friction angle of soil showed bigger value in the direct shear test.

  • I think this will be valuable reference for assuring consistency and homogeneity of clarity and managing dental radiation equipment by experimentation of dental radiation equipment permanent which based on KS C IEC 61223-3-4 standard and KS C IEC 61223-2-7. Put a dental radiation generator and experiment equipment as source and film(sensor) length within 30 em, place the step-wedge above the film(sensor). Tie up tube voltage 60 kVp, tube current 7 mA and then get an each image through CCD sensor and film by changing the exposure time as 0.12sec, 0.25sec, 0.4sec. Repeat the test 5times as a same method. Measure the concentration of each stage of film image, which gained by experiment, using photometer. And the image that gained by CCD sensor, analyze the pixel value's change by using image J, which is analyzing image program provided by NIH(National Institutes of Health). In case of film, while 0.12sec and 0.25sec show regular rising pattern of density gap as exposure time's increase, 0.4sec shows low rather than 0.12sec and 0.25sec. In case of CCD sensor density test, the result shows opposite pattern of film. This makes me think that pixels of CCD's sensor can have 0~255 value but it becomes saturation if the value is over 255. The way that getting clear reception during decreasing human's exposed radiation is one of maintaining an equipment as a best condition. So we should keeping a dental radiation equipment's condition steadily through cyclic permanent test after factor examination. Even digital equipment doesn't maintain a permanent, it can maintain a clarity by post processing of image so that hard to set it as standard of permanent test. Therefore it would be more increase the accuracy that compare a film as standard image. Thus I consider it will be an important measurement to care for dental radiation equipment and warrant homogeneity, consistency of dental image's clarity through comparing pattern which is the result from factor test against cyclic permanent test.

  • Noise level and Airflow amount of a kitchen hood are affected by the conditions of airflow path. Thus this study is expected to be used as a basic reference in designing airflow path of apartment housing throughout analysing changes in noise level and airflow amount from the various conditions of airflow path. Noise level generated by the kitchen hood is estimated in a kitchen and a living room of two constructed apartment houses, and an experiment is conducted in an half anechoic chamber to analyze noise level and airflow amount by the different length, diameter and number of windings of a round shaped soft duct which is connected to the kitchen hood. The measured results in apartment houses show that the noise level in both apartments exceeds the NC standard greatly in living spaces. In apartment A, a regular apartment house, the noise level was $NC-65{\sim}75$, $NC-45{\sim}60$ and NC-70, NC-45 in the kitchen and living room with an operation of kitchen hood in 1 and 3 stages. In apartment B, an apartment complex, the noise level was NC-55 and NC-60 in the kitchen and living room with an operation of kitchen hood in 3 stages. In particular, there was an increase of noise level at 125Hz-band resulted from an amplification of sound, which requires adequate measures in noise reduction. The results measured in Half anechoic chamber show 99% of airflow amount increase with the modification of a duct' s diameter from ${\Phi}$ 100mm to ${\Phi}$ 125mm, 37% of airflow amount increase with the modification of a duct' s diameter from ${\Phi}$ 125mm to ${\Phi}$ 150mm, and 173% of airflow amount increase with the modification of a duct' s diameter from ${\Phi}$ l00mm to ${\Phi}$ 150mm. The noise level was lower than the level measured in apartment housing about 20 in NC-value and 11.4 in dB(A)-value, which was interpreted as the effect of the load by the pressure condition at the rear end of the duct. Also, an amplification of sound in 125Hz-band influenced NC-value considerably, therefore effective measure is needed.

  • In the present study, comparative efficacy of natural as well as synthetic tenderizers on the quality characteristics of restructured spent hen meat slices (RSHS) was studied. Four different batches of RSHS viz. Control (without any tenderizer), T1 (1.25% calcium chloride replacing salt in formulation), T2 and T3 (1.5% each of pineapple rind and fig powder, replacing binder in the formulation) were developed in pre-standardized formulation. Vacuum tumbling was performed for 2.5 h and cooked product (RSHS) was assayed for quality attributes. Samples were packaged in aerobic conditions, stored for 21 days under refrigeration ($4{\pm}1^{\circ}C$) and were evaluated for pH, oxidative and microbial quality parameters at regular interval of 7 days. Water holding capacity of T2 was recorded the highest and significantly higher (p<0.05) than all other samples. The textural attributes of T2 were comparable to T1 but significantly higher (p<0.05) than C and T3. The colour attributes ($L^*$, $a^*$, and $b^*$ value) of T2 and T3 were improved due to use of natural tenderizers. During sensory evaluation, tenderness scores for T2 samples were recorded the highest. Throughout storage period, thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS), free fatty acids (FFA) and peroxide value (PV) followed an increasing trend for control as well as treated products; however, T2 showed a significantly (p<0.05) lower value than control and other treated samples. It can be concluded that good quality RSHS with better storage stability could be prepared by utilizing 1.5% pineapple rind powder as natural tenderizer.

  • In order to verify the risk of onset of the illnesses based on gender, age, and monthly income 1,739 subjects from Hongcheon county, Gangwon province were selected. Questionnaire on demographic sociology, health condition, existence of illnesses(cancer, hypertension, stroke, diabetes, arthritis, cardiac disorders), and usage of public health services was surveyed from October 1, 2006 to October 20, 2006. Following conclusions were reached on the basis of the questionnaire : - For demographic sociological peculiarities, gender, age, occupation, and education level were evenly distributed. Most were under normal marriage(67.38%), health insurance(86.39%), 494(36.0%) individuals with less than monthly income of 1 million won, 494(36.0%) individuals with monthly income between 1 and 2 million won, 219(16.0%) with monthly income between 2 and 3 million won, and 164(12.0%) individuals with more than 3 million won, thus showing relatively low income. - For health status, 1,199(70.28%) individuals are non-smokers, 209(45.63%) individuals smoke $10{\sim}20$ cigarettes a day, 754(44.02%) individuals exercise less than twice a week are the major sector of the population. 1,518(88.10%) individuals have regular checkup more than once and 1,131(65.49%) stated their health condition less than average. - For comparison of existence of illnesses between genders, there was no statistical significance on cancer, stroke, and diabetes. But statistical significance was shown on hypertension(P value 0.025), arthritis(P value 0.000), and cardiac disorders(P value 0.016). Statistical significance was seen in the age comparison, and OR(confidence interval) drastically increased with increase in age. - There was no difference between the primary health clinic(P value 0.000), most visited clinic(P value 0.000), selection criteria(P value 0.000), and satisfaction on efficacy(P value 0.000). There was a tendency preferring hospital than public health center with increase in income. - For correlation between the existence of illnesses among different income levels, except for cancer(P value 0.172), statistical significance was seen in hypertension(P value 0.000), stroke(P value 0.003), diabetes (P value 0.001), arthritis(P value 0.000), and cardiac disorders(P value 0.000). The number of individuals suffering from illnesses and ratio all decreased for all illnesses with increase in income. - After adjusting confounding factors(gender, age, income, marriage, occupation, education) and male (1) as the standard, OR (confidence interval) of cancer, hypertension, stroke, diabetes, arthritis, cardiac disorders were 0.47(0.11${\sim}$2.05), 1.27(0.89${\sim}$1.81), 0.58(0.21${\sim}$1.59), 0.71(0.41${\sim}$1.23), 1.79(1.34${\sim}$2.39, P<0.01), and 1.46(0.72${\sim}$2.96), respectively. • This study investigate the interaction effects of bundle price discount framing and message framing on consumer's attitude of bundle component. Although each effect of bundle price discount framing and message framing has been explored individually, few attempts have been made to invest them jointly. This study tests the interaction effects of bundle price discount framing and message framing on consumer's evaluation of bundle component. Moreover, this research focuses on consumer's evaluation of individual bundle component while the existing research on bundling primarily focused on consumer's evaluation of the bundle. Prior research suggests that consumers are sensitive to the framing of prices and discounts in the presentation of the bundle offer. For example, there is considerable evidence that partitioning or consolidating the prices of a bundle can influence the attractiveness of the bundle offer. Similarly, there is evidence that an equivalent price reduction to the overall bundle, one of the individual products in the bundle, or distributed among the individual products in the bundle can alter the perceived attractiveness of the offer (e.g. Chakravarti, Krish, Paul, and Srivastava 2002; Hamilton and Srivastava 2008; Janiszewski and Cunha 2004; Johnson, Herrmann and Bauer 1999; ; Morwitz, Greenleaf, and Johnson 1998; Yadav 1994; 1995). In line with these earlier research, this research suggests that the bundle type can influence the consumer's evaluation of bundle component. There are two types of bundle - mixed-leader bundle and mixed-joint bundle. In mixed-leader bundling, the price of one of the two products is discounted when the other product is purchased at the regular price. In mixed-joint bundling, a single price is set when the two product are purchased jointly. This study supposes that the teeth whitening product is the leader product in a mixed-leader bundle. So bundle price discount framing is manipulated such as "Buy the teeth whitening product (regular price \80,000) and get 50% discount on the functional toothpaste(regular price \40,000), special set price \100,000" or "Buy the functional toothpaste and the teeth whitening product as a set and get discount for the set, special set price \60,000". Message framing is manipulated through the product claims described in an advertising bill. The positive framing presents that "Over 95% of users achieved the expected 2-3 shades of improvement in two weeks" where as the negative framing presents "less than 5% of users did not achieve the expected 2-3 shades of improvement in two weeks". This study uses hypothetical brand name of the teeth whitening product and the functional toothpaste This study is based on a 2x2 factorial design with bundle discount framing (mixed-leader bundle vs. mixed-joint bundle) and massage framing (positive vs. negative). The dependant variables are consumer's perceived quality and attitude of the teeth whitening product The data reveals that two dependant variables are correlated, so the data is analyzed with two-way MANOVA. This research explores the significant interaction effect of bundle discount framing and message framing on consumer's perceived quality and attitude of the teeth whitening product. When the message framing is positive, consumer's perceived quality and attitude of the teeth whitening product is higher in mixed-leader bundle than mixed-joint bundle condition. However, when the message framing is negative, consumer's evaluation is higher in mixed-joint bundle than mixed-leader bundle. The author explains this result by stating that consumers are less likely to use heuristics such as price-quality association and value discounting hypothesis(Raghubir 2004) in the negative message framing condition. Additionally, consumer's perceived risk of the teeth whitening product in the negative message framing condition can be more reduced by the bundle partner(e.g. the toothpaste) in mixed-joint bundle than mixed-leader bundle. Based on the results, marketing managers are advised to use different bundle type based on message framing of their product.

  • They are used as a symbol representing some meaning of an object. Geometric patterns in the formative arts have been recasted by artists and used to express modern images. Simple shapes of geometric patterns create beauty with their outward appearance and decorated patterns. The simpleness of decorated patterns go with restrained, rational, and modern concepts. The patterns decorated with geometric patterns use geometric figures such as octagon, triangle, quadrangle, etc. and they give satisfaction to modern people. They are also regular and simple, so they can create impactive visual effects and three-dimensional space can be created with these dynamic patterns. Therefore, attractiveness of shape which gives enjoyment is also found in tableware design using geometric patterns. Using geometric patterns in tableware design is not based on a chance factor, so it is possible to objectify and reproduce the patterns. These repetitive designs can influence a lot of designers working on tableware and help improve the tableware designs. It is also considered that those designs are able to create new opportunities to produce a high value product in the ceramics industry.
