  • In this paper we propose an influence measure for detecting potentially influential observations using the infinitesimal perturbation and the local influence in the log-linear regression model. Also, we propose a goodness-of-fit measure for variable selection. A real data set are used for illustration.

  • We consider an estimation of discontinuous variance function in nonparametric heteroscedastic random design regression model. We first propose estimators of a change point and jump size in variance function and then construct an estimator of entire variance function. We examine the rates of convergence of these estimators and give results on their asymptotics. Numerical work reveals that the effectiveness of change point analysis in variance function estimation is quite significant.

  • This paper considers a Bayesian approach to modeling a flexible regression function under structural measurement error model. The regression function is modeled based on semiparametric regression with penalized splines. Model fitting and parameter estimation are carried out in a hierarchical Bayesian framework using Markov chain Monte Carlo methodology. Their performances are compared with those of the estimators under structural measurement error model without a semiparametric component.

  • For industrial and medical lifetime data, the generalized log-gamma regression model is considered. Then the Bayesian analysis for the generalized log-gamma regression with censored data are explained and following the data augmentation (Tanner and Wang; 1987), the censored data is replaced by simulated data. To overcome the complicated Bayesian computation, Makov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method is employed. Then some modified algorithms are proposed to implement MCMC. Finally, one example is presented.

  • Recently, Tanaka(1988) derived two influence functions related to an eigenvalue problem $(A-\lambda_sI)\upsilon_s=0$ of real symmetric matrix A and used them for sensitivity analysis in principal component analysis. In this paper, we deal with the perturbation expansions up to quadratic terms of the same functions and discuss the application to sensitivity analysis in principal component regression analysis(PCRA). Numerical example is given to show how the approximation improves with the quadratic term.

  • The autoregressive process is applied in this paper to kernel regression in order to infer nonlinear models for predicting responses. We propose a kernel method for the autoregressive data which estimates the mean function by kernel machines. We also present the model selection method which employs the cross validation techniques for choosing the hyper-parameters which affect the performance of kernel regression. Artificial and real examples are provided to indicate the usefulness of the proposed method for the estimation of mean function in the presence of autocorrelation between data.

  • Since the analytic expression for a diagnostic in the logistic regression model is not available, one-step estimation is often used by a case-deletion point of view. In this paper, infinitesimal perturbation approach is used, and it is shown that the scale transformation of infinitesimal perturbation approach is eventually equal to the weighted perturbation of local influence approach and the replacement measure. Also, multiple cases deletion for the masking effect is considered.

  • Recent work by Shin and Sarkar (1996) examines model misspecification problems for nonstationary time series. Shin and Sarkar introduce a general regression model with integrated errors and one system of integrated regressors and discuss the limiting distributions of the OLS estimators and the usual OLS statistics such as $\hat{\sigma^2}$t, DW and $R^2$. We analyze three different model misspecification problems through a Monte Carlo study and investigate each model misspecification problem. Our Monte Carlo experiments show that DW and $R^2$ can be in general used as diagnostic tools to detect spurious regression, misspecification of nonstationary autoregressive and polynomial regression models.

  • For a stochastic regression model in which the errors are assumed to form a stationary linear process, we show that the difference between the empirical distribution functions of the errors and the estimates of those errors converges uniformly in probability to zero at the rate of $o_{p}$ ( $n^{-}$$\frac{1}{2}$) as the sample size n increases.
