  • Regional brands are recognized for their importance as one of the local public relations policies, but only the methods promoted by local government officials and outside experts are revealing limitations in self-reliance and sustainability. In order for a regional brand to succeed, it is necessary to develop and manage a brand that fits the characteristics of the region together with various stakeholders including residents. In this study, it was confirmed that regional brand evaluation indicators may vary depending on the stage of co-creation in the design process for regional brand development, and the type of value co-creation was determined through a classification method using the results of the evaluation index. According to the results of the study, the type of value co-creation that fits the local situation and characteristics can be derived by adjusting the stage of co-creation execution in the design process.

  • Buffer soluble protein and five isozymes were analyzed to assess the inter specific relationship among 25 species of the genus Mammillaria Haw. A total of 102 types of proteins were resolved, out of which eighty-six types were found to be polymorphic and only two were unique. A total of 248 bands (isoforms) were detected for 5 isozymes, among them only 4 were found to be monomorphic and 35 were exclusive. Mantel 'Z' statistics revealed wide variations in the correlation among different enzymes. The correlation value 'r' was the highest in case of esterase with pooled data of all the five enzymes. The dendrogram constructed on the basis of pooled data (protein and allozyme) divided the species into two major clusters containing 14 and 11 members respectively. The species M. matudae and M. bella were found to be the most closely related while M. decipience and M. camptroticha were distantly apart. The present study gave an indication of usefulness of the isozyme and protein markers for genetic discrimination between different species of Mammillaria.

  • This experiment was carried out to analyze for pesticide residues in 17 different types of the special of geographical indication. We purchased 3 cereal grains, nuts and seeds, 3 fruits, 8 vegetables, mushrooms and other plants (Korean medicines) mainly at the agricultural cooperative's joints markets. Total 209 pesticides including multi-analysed pesticides (204) and single-analysed pesticides (5 ; acephate, methamidophos, monocrotophos, omethoate, vamidothion) were analysed with a GC/MS/MS, an HPLC/UVD (PDA) and a GC/FPD. No. 83 method and single-analysed method (Screening of multi-pesticide residue in the special products of geographical indication) of Korea Food Code was selected for validation in recovery and interferences of matrice. The results were as follows: among the selected 17 the special products, the residual pesticides were detected in 8 types of the special products (40 in 302 samples, detection ratio; 13.2%). All of the samples were not detected over MRLs, but tebuconazole, procymidone and isoprothioran were detected with considerable high frequency. These results could be used as KFDA official methods for the analysis of pesticide residues in foods and reference data will be provided to the related institutions.

  • The existing standard for soil erosion risk assessment has limitations in sustainable topsoil management since the fixed criteria are applied to determination of soil erosion risk areas regardless of land use types. It may not be necessary to apply soil erosion best management practices to agricultural areas with high potential of soil erosion because human or economic damage derived from soil erosion might be tiny in that region. Furthermore, the fixed criterion with absolute values can select too many hot spots of soil erosion to conduct efficient soil erosion management. Thus, objective of this study was to suggest the relative criteria using statistical analysis for efficient soil erosion management. In future, the relative indices for soil erosion prevention should be improved to provide a priority of soil erosion management considering economic damage from soil erosion or functional values of soil with quantitative soil erosion. Additional researches will be needed to reflect a regional characteristics and to consider various land use types and different criteria.

  • China shows body size differences owing to varied climates, economic development, living standards, and ethnic distribution from region to region. That's why some regional research regarding body sizes is necessary for the advancement of clothing goods into China. Here, the materials of the Chinese standard "GB/T 1335-1997 Clothing Sizes" are analyzed to reveal the somatotypes of Chinese adults. Height, chest girth and waist girth were differently noticed in six areas. 1. The distribution rates of four body types (Y, A, B, C) were diverse in six regions. 2. Regional differences were seen as follows: 1) As for the height of male adults, areas 1(Northeast, Hwabuk) and 2(Central Western) were larger than the national mean. Areas 3(Gwangdong, Gwangseo, Bokgeon), 4 (Unnam, Gwiju, Sacheon) and 5(Downstream Jang River) were rather small. 2) As for the height of female adults, areas 1, 2 and 6 (Midstream Jang River) were larger than the national mean. Areas 3 and 4 were smaller than the average. 3) As for the bust girth of male adults, area 1 was the only area that exceeded the national mean. Areas 3 and 4 turned out smaller than the average. 4) As for the bust girth of female adults, areas 1, 2 and 6 exceeded the national average. The other three areas were lower. 5) As to the waist girth of adult males, areas 1 and 2 exceeded the national average. The other four areas were lower. 6) As to the waist girth of adult females, areas 1, 2 and 6 exceeded the national average. Areas 4 and 5 were lower. 7) In the height, bust girth and waist girth of male and female adults, most regions showed differences in means, regional distribution and regional rates.

  • Background: By applying the suggested criteria for needs-based chronic medical care and long-term care delivery system for the elderly, the current status of delivery system was identified and regional delivery systems were categorized according to quantity and quality of delivery system. Methods: National claims data were used for this study. All claims data of medical and long-term care uses by the elderly and all claims data from long-term care hospitals and nursing homes in 2016 were analyzed to categorize the regional medical and long-term care delivery system. The current status of the delivery system with a high possibility of transition to a needs-based appropriate delivery system was identified. The necessary and actual amount of regional supply was calculated based on their needs, and the structure of delivery systems was evaluated in terms of the needs-based quality of the system. Finally, all regions were categorized into 15 types of medical and care delivery systems for the elderly. Results: Of the total 55 regions, 89.1% of regions had an oversupply of elderly medical and care services compared to the necessary supply based on their needs. However, 69.1% of regions met the criteria for less than two types of needs groups, and 21.8% of regions were identified as regions where the numbers of institutions or regions with a high possibility of transition to an appropriate delivery system were below the average levels for all four needs groups. Conclusion: In order to establish an appropriate community-based integrated elderly care system, it is necessary to analyze the characteristics of the regional delivery system categories and to plan a needs-based delivery system regionally.

  • The purposes of this study are to classify heavy snowfall types in the Republic of Korea based on fresh snowfall data and atmospheric circulation data during the last 36(1973/74-2008/09) snow seasons and to identify typical surface synoptic climate patterns that characterize each heavy snowfall type. Four synoptic climate categories and seventeen regional heavy snowfall types are classified based on sea level pressure/surface wind vector patterns in East Asia and frequent spatial clustering patterns of heavy snowfall in the Republic of Korea, respectively. Composite analyses of multiple surface synoptic weather charts demonstrate that the locations and intensity of pressure/wind vector mean and anomaly cores in East Asia differentiate each regional heavy snowfall type in Korea. These differences in synoptic climatic fields are primarily associated with the surge of the Siberian high pressure system and the appearance of low pressure systems over the Korean Peninsula. In terms of hemispheric atmospheric circulation, synoptic climatic patterns in the negative mode of winter Arctic Oscillation (AO) are also associated with frequent heavy snowfall in the Republic of Korea at seasonal scales. These results from long-term synoptic climatic data could contribute to improvement of short-range or seasonal prediction of regional heavy snowfall.

  • This study was conducted to review data utilization plans and suggest solutions based on the need for tools that can objectively diagnose problems in rural areas. The study extracted items through prior research and was carried out as a process of reviewing data capable of constructing spatial data. The results performed in the above manner are as follows. First, prior research and expert surveys were conducted to select diagnostic items to derive details of a total of three items that should be considered for rural space plans such as regional revitalization and regeneration using regional characteristics such as environment, society, and culture. Second, as a result of listing data available for regional diagnosis, 6 types of environment, 15 types of society, and 18 types of culture were selected out of a total of 529. Finally, it was suggested to establish a national standard spatial unit by grasping the limitations of public data such as omission of spatial data and accuracy. This study is significant in that it presented implications for data utilization as well as selection of items for rural diagnosis and reviewed data utilization based on rural specialized districts of "The Act on Support for Restructuring and Regeneration of Rural Spaces" to be implemented in 2024. This is considered to be valuable as a study for sustainable rural diagnosis if processes such as spatial data construction and weight setting are carried out in the future.
