  • An attempt was made to study the subdivision of Korea by the annual amount and the annual change pattern of monthly precipitation days(that is one of the important elements of the precipitation characteristics), using the mean values for the years 1961-1990 at the 68 stations. The amplitudes of annual change were normalized and using these values, the principal component analysis was applied to determine the annual change patterns. The results show that they are expressed by the combinations of the three change patterns in almost whole regions of Korea. As a result, the annual change pattern of precipitation days in Korea is classified into 8 types from A to e,in detail, 36 types from A0 to e$\circled2$.And regional division of precipitation days in Korea is divided into 13 regions from I a to IIIC,into detail, 41 regions from I no to IIICl.

  • Central Asia has great growth potential for cooperation as the Korean Official Development Assistance (ODA) program expands and diversifies. In the case of the forest sector, Korea's successful greening experience has attracted interest from countries in Central Asia. In particular, the depletion of the Aral Sea and a widespread environmental degradation should motivate regional cooperation as well as highlights the need to establish a multilateral cooperative system. The limitation of existing bilateral cooperation, which is the limitation of South-South cooperation, is underscored by the engagement of new donors or the multilateral cooperation and triangular cooperation of organizations is receiving new attention. In addition, Central Asia is suitable for implementing the basic concepts of triangular cooperation. Korea is able to make complementary regional agreements using friendly partnerships with Kazakhstan (the Emerging Donor) and Uzbekistan (the second South Korean Focus Country of ODA). To reinterpret the basic concept of triangular cooperation, three regional cooperation strategies for Central Asia are proposed in this study: windbreak forest development to guarantee resident settlement, resident income increase, and protection of the Aral Sea from further degradation.

  • In recent years, urbanization has been a hot issues in watershed management due to increased pollutant loads from impervious urban areas. The Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) model has been widely used in hydrology and water quality studies at watershed scale. However, the SWAT has limitations in simulating water flows between HRUs and hydrological effects of LID practices. The Storm Water Management Model (SWMM) has LID capabilities, but it does not simulate non-urban areas, especially agricultural areas. In this study, a SWAT-SWMM coupled model was developed to evaluate effects of LID practices on hydrology and water quality at mixed-landuse watersheds. This coupled SWAT-SWMM was evaluated by comparing calibrated flow with and without coupled SWAT-SWMM. As a result of this study, the $R^2$ and NSE values with SWAT are 0.951 and 0.937 for calibration period, and 0.882 and 0.875 for validation period, respectively. the $R^2$ and NSE values with SWAT-SWMM are 0.877 and 0.880 for validation period. Out of four LID scenarios simulated by SWAT-SWMM model, the green roof scenario was found to be most effective which reduces about 25% of rainfall-runoff flows.

  • Of all wireless technologies for personal communications, CDMA(Code Devision Multiple Access) offers the best combination of good signal quality, high security and system reliability. CDMA2000 provides Internet and internet services for variable multimedia aplications. However, good educational CDMA web contents, which focus on the easy understability and good readability, are rare dute to the difficulties and the broad range of CDMA technologies. This content is developed based upon the following two aspects. First, a basic CDMA communication theoy, which contains much color figures and animation, is introduced combing the experimental results and corresponding explanations utilizing the information obtained by the TIMS CDMA equitments. It can improve the understabiliy virtual experience of the site visitors interested in the CDMA. Secondly, the recent CDMA coverage prediction and engineering technology is introduced using the RF plan tool C24 combined for the CDMA engineers

  • In this study, the performance of an impeller according to blade length and pitch angle was studied experimentally by building a variable pitch impeller while changing blade length to review the effect of blade length and pitch angle on a fan's performance and sound characteristics. The pitch angle was changed in six steps from $20^{\circ}{\sim}45^{\circ}$ at intervals of $5^{\circ}$ while the blade lengths were changed 80 mm, 90 mm, 100 mm, 110 mm and 120 mm with an identical airfoil shape while carrying out the experiment.

  • The objectives of this study are to analyze the characteristics of multi-cultural families in rural areas and to classify their types by applying multi-variate techniques and cluster analyses. Data for the study were obtained by a surveying 120 married migrant females in rural areas of Chungchengnam-do, South Korea. By utilizing the factor analysis to analyze the characteristics of multi-cultural families, 16 basic variables related to these female subjects were categorized into 6 factors: 'marriage length and age', 'language skill of migrant female', 'language skill of husband', 'family satisfaction', 'income and education', and 'general living satisfaction in Korea with remittance'. By appling the cluster analysis, multi-cultural families in rural areas were divided into the following 5 types: 'stable settlement', 'average but stagnant', 'below average yet positive', 'high- income with little communication', and 'young low-income'. In all types, it is strongly recommended to develop various programs regarding vocational education for the migrant females in order to increase their economic opportunities as well as social status.

The pitch angle was changed in six steps from $20^{\circ}{\sim}45^{\circ}$ at intervals of $5^{\circ}$ while the blade lengths were changed to 90 mm, 100 mm, 110 mm and 120 mm with an identical airfoil shape while carrying out the experiment. The results are summarized as follows: The air flow per static pressure of axial fans increased linearly with increase of pitch angle, but the high static pressure showed a decrease at a pitch angle of $35^{\circ}$. The shaft power increased proportionally to the pitch angle at all blade lengths; the larger the pitch angle, the larger the measured increase of shaft power. This is because the drag at the fan's front increases with the pitch angle. In the axial fans considered in this research, the flow and increase of static pressure amount increased up to a pitch angle of $30^{\circ}$ but decreased rapidly above $35^{\circ}$.

  • Modern apartment houses are constructed to be relatively airtight with a high heat insulation system to increase the energy efficiency. Such a system has a range of deleterious effects due to the insufficient ventilation. In this study, the ondol system, which is used as a heat source typical of winter in Korea, was set as the default system to evaluate the indoor heat environment according to the ventilation method, the factors of energy reduction by the ventilation system was analyzed. The experimental apparatus was used to simulate the ambient conditions for a certain constant temperature and humidity chamber. The experimental results showed that the supply water temperature higher air volume decreases with increasing supply air temperature in the following order: floor supply/exhaust > total heat exchange supply/exhaust > forced supply/exhaust. Through this study, the applicability of various ventilations could be examined.

  • As modern houses are constructed with high-density and high-insulation, there is benefit to reduce energy consumption, but there are many side effects raised from polluted air. To solve the problem, a ventilation system is used to improve a indoor air quality. In this research, we experimentally estimate ventilation performance of HRV(heat recovery ventilator) with heat-pipe according to working fluid filling quantity and ventilation. Heat-pipe used in this study was designated separately to be applied to a ventilation system. The working fluid was R22, which was filled from 40 to 55 (%vol.) by 5(%vol.). Ventilation based on the front velocity was measured from 0.3 m/s to 1.5 m/s by 0.3 m/s intervals. Refrigerant filling quantity with the highest efficiency was found to depend on the ventilation. From this study the optimal refrigerant filling quantity in accordance with the ventilation of the detachable heat pipes was found experimentally.
