The purpose of this study was to introduce the concepts of experiential learning and the Kolb's model, and to review some applications of experiential learning theory in graduate medical education. The published literature on GME and education for general practitioners applying the experiential theory and the Kolb's model was reviewed. Experience learning defined the cyclical learning process which emphasizes the learners' reflective thinking of the learners' concrete experiences and their active participation in continuous learning actives. Kolb includes this 'cycle of learning' as a central principle in his experiential learning theory. This is typically expressed as a four-stage cycle of learning. Kolb's cycle moves through concrete experience(CE), reflective observation(RO), abstract conceptualization(AC) and active experimentation(AE). Components of continuing education of the adult learner were based on autonomy, context of learning, and competence and performance as educational objectives. Some strategies for graduate medical education were reflective thinking, self-directed learning, morning reporting and feedback with peer review, etc. Opportunities for learning from experience in practical life can be made to enhance reflective thinking and performance of practitioners. Strategies to develop reflective practice among physicians should be explored by further research.
The purpose of this study was to explore the lived experiences of Korean mothers in relation to parent education. Parent education was broadly defined in this study to encompass the various educational experiences that parents "try" and "undergo" both before and after becoming parents. Rather than being confined to a single program, we aimed to understand parent education as a cumulative process, comprising diverse experiences that shape parents' lives and roles. We conducted in-depth interviews with seven mothers of infants and toddlers, followed by a reflexive thematic analysis of the data. Four major themes emerged from the analysis. The first theme, "confusion about becoming a parent," describes the initial challenges of adjusting to the loss of freedom and the adaptation to new responsibilities. The second theme, "parent education through observation and experience," highlights how parents learned by observing and engaging with real-life situations before and after the birth of their children. The third theme, "active participation in purposeful parent education," focuses on structured educational programs in shaping parental roles. The final theme, "reflective thinking and personal growth through parent education," illustrates how reflective practices as a mother contributed to the parental development. This study underscores the importance of adopting a long-term perspective on parent education, recognizing the interconnected nature of parental and child development and appreciating the experiences of mothers who grow through reflective thinking.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to improve the quality of fundamental nursing practice course. Methods: Participants were 132 students who took the fundamental nursing practice course at D university in N city. The study included processes of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Quantitative data were analyzed using SPSS 20.0 program and qualitative data were evaluated through content analysis. Results: The 12-step designing college courses model by Fink was applied in the planning. In the acting stage, the course was conducted according to the instruction in designing the course, students wrote reflective journals and the professor gave feedback to the reflective journal and the class observation journal was used for lessons. In the observation stage, the course evaluation was surveyed and analyzed, evaluations were positive with 47.1% of students positively evaluating the teaching strategy. In the reflecting stage, outcomes in course improvement were reflected on and, the number of students at the lower level-of-achievement decreased. Conclusion: Action research was a useful research method that could capture the quality improvement process in college courses. Expression of effort and passion to improve quality of education through action research in various ways and to share quality improvement strategies for nursing education are important.
The purpose of teacher education is to improve the professionalism of teachers above the current level. The type of teacher education to improve the professionalism of experienced teachers is broadly divided into top-down education and bottom-up education. So far, studies on top-down education were commonly conducted in the field of Korean language education. However, there has been an increasing number of studies emphasizing the need for bottom-up education, driven by the voluntary participation of teachers in recent years. The purpose of this study is to suggest the direction of reflective teacher education for experienced Korean language teachers. For this purpose, a survey was conducted of 71 Korean language teachers who had more than 5 years of experience. The contents of the survey consisted of opinions regarding existing teacher education, the need for reflective teacher education, and the perception of teaching professionalism. The results showed that experienced Korean language teachers had a positive perception of the existing teacher re-education experience. Also, 91% of the respondents said they intend to participate in the reflective teacher education program. In particular, respondents showed high demands for 'peer coaching', 'peer observation', and 'teaching portfolios' among reflective teacher education programs. Lastly, many respondents selected 'development and utilization of teaching materials', 'encouraging learner's utterances', and 'leading learner's interest and motivation' as sub-elements of teaching professionalism that they wish to improve through teacher re-education.

The research evaluated the effects of the improvements in scientific inquiry for elementary school students and focused on the development and application of the explicit and reflective learning strategy through observation and classification. The explicit and reflective learning strategy was modified and completed with the review of the experts after the development of the draft based on the theoretical approach. The students were evaluated for their academic achievements in scientific inquiry skills before and after taking the course. The results were as follows: First, the steps of the developed learning strategy (1) to motivate, (2) to explore reflectively, (3) to guide explicitly, (4) to inquire explicitly, and (5) to verify reflectively were set to reflect the verification. Second, the results of applying the developed model to the lessons based on the quantitative analysis was effective for observation and classification skills in the quest for improved performance of the whole (the sum of observation and classification, inquiry skills) and the observed features, but there was no effect on classification. Also, the lessons applied the developed teaching strategy and showed effectiveness in improving academic achievement. Particularly in analyzing the relationship between the academic achievement and exploration capabilities, in order to improve academic achievement, the importance of improving inquiry skills was found. Third, the qualitative analysis of teaching and learning strategy developed by applying the lessons of this teacher guide and small group activities through the explicit and reflective observation and classification of the student learning activities showed the significant improvement of ability of the scientific inquiry skills. In addition to the improvement in the abilities of the classification showed after the formation of the most basic observation skills of the scientific inquiry.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the responses of pre-service elementary teachers to the plant learning using plant-observation activities and observation journal writings. Thirty pre-service teachers participated in this study. Before and after practicing plant observation and observation journal writing for 11 weeks, pre-service teachers' interest to plants, attitude to plant-observation teaching, and plant-observation teaching efficacy were examined using a questionnaire. Also, the observation journals, reflective journal writings, and interviews were analyzed to investigate their qualitative change. In addition, the pre-service teachers were classified by multi-dimensional scaling and cluster analysis with respect to attitude to plant-observation teaching and observation journal writing, and teaching efficacy. While the pre-service teachers showed significant increase of the interest to plants and plant-observation teaching efficacy, and positive change of the attitude to plant-observation teaching, there was a little difference between gender with more positive effects on females. The positive attitude changes of pre-service teachers included positive recognition about plants and the diversity, increased interest and curiosity about plants, careful observation about nearby plants, and independent learning and positive inquiry with plants. In terms of teaching efficacy, they showed positive change such as enjoyment and satisfaction with plant-observation, confidence as elementary teachers in the future, and recognition about the importance of elementary teachers for plant education. However, the changes were different among the groups classified by attitude to plant-observation teaching and observation journal writings, and plant-observation teaching efficacy.
Smith(2001) calls for practice-based professional development for teachers of mathematics. This paper discusses laboratory class as a model for conducting professional development program for a group f elementary school mathematics teachers. The laboratory class seeks to promote teachers' generative growth (Carpenter & Levi, 1999) and all the core and structural features (Garet, Porter, Desimone, Birman & Kwang, 2001) of a professional development are also engaged in this program and the ultimate goal is for teachers to be reflective in their practices to be generative (Carpenter & Leher, 1999) in their teaching and learning. This paper also discusses the design of the laboratory class based on the principles of reflective thinking and psychological observation by Dewey to connect theory with practice.

The purpose of this study was to examine the change in the classes of the beginning science teachers through a cooperative mentoring program that induces the practice of reflective thinking. Participants in this study included three mentor-teachers, two teachers in doctorate or masters courses, one university professor, and three mentee-teachers who had less than four years of teaching experience. We collected data such as video recordings of mentee-teachers' classes and transcription, lesson plans, recording of one-on-one mentoring and transcription, mentor's and mentee's journals, and RTOP class observation reports. RTOP was used for the class analysis, and the cognition and changes in mentee-teachers' classes were determined from their journal entries and one-on-one mentoring interview materials. According to mentee-teachers' recognition of changes in their classes during the mentoring program, they themselves recognized their teacher-centered teaching styles, misconception, and lack of content knowledge. Furthermore, there were changes in the mentee-teachers' classes through their reflective practice and improvement. Based on the result of this study, however, the teachers' reflection was not all accompanied with reflective practice even if the beginner science teachers made some partial changes in reflective practice by reflection. This means that it is hard to instill a reflective practice in mentee-teachers through mentoring in a short period. Therefore, we consider that more systematic and long-term mentoring is necessary for beginner science teachers.
The purpose of this study is to understand two geography student teachers' experience of practical knowledge on the geography classroom organization during their student teaching. I carried out a qualitative case study on the geography classroom organization and its practice. Data was gathered through participant observation and in-deep interview. The results are as follows: 1) I present portraits two pre-service geography teachers' lives, which represent typical case of intrinsic deep motivation and spontaneous interest in subject matter. 2) Their classroom are organized $9{\sim}14$ segment, its segment organizations in introduction close steps and main lesson step behave differently. The segment activities in close step behave most irregularly. 3) In the reflection rubric, the level of their reflection is middle, mostly concentrated on 'technical' or 'dialogue' level. On the basis of these findings, it can be concluded that a different way of understanding the relationship between knowing to teach and knowing about teaching is necessary.
