A new position correction method using four fiducials as reference points was developed and examined. It was aimed to calibrate nonlinear deformation by numerous error sources. A correlation for correction was derived from the geometric relationship between four fiducials and chip position. Compared with three points method, it exhibited more accurate correction, especially for inner area of a quadrilateral composed of four fiducial points. Its accuracy was found to be increased as fiducials moves outwardly within a printed circuit board (PCB) and/or as they form more rectangle-like shape As for arbitrarily nonlinear deformation, this method can be applied using more than five fiducials. In this case, local-area calibration is carried out by sectioning a board area into several rectangular are as.

LIDAH data often include systematic errors, which should be removed by a calibration process. This paper proposes a robust approach to calibrating LIDAR data using natural surfaces as reference data. The uniqueness of this approach is to employ a sophisticated selection scheme so that only a portion of LIDAR points can be used to estimate the bias parameters generating the systematic errors. This approach was applied to calibrating simulated LIDAR data. The results show that the approach can successfully recover the bias parameters and calibrate the data with acceptable RMS errors. Particularly, the parameter recovery model can be easily extended to register image data with LIDAR data.
In this study, we try to coincide virtual robot system in an OLP(off-line programming) with actual robot system even though kinematic differences between them are made. The virtual robot in the OLP may be modeled according to kinematics of the actual robot system. However, it is a complicated problem to find exactly all kinematic parameters of actual robot and environment. In this paper, an automated calibration method is proposed In order to find some kinematical parameters which are necessary for the modeling of a robot and environment in the OLP. It is applicable to SCARA robot for assembly task. In this method, a well-marked worktable of environment Is regarded as reference coordinate frame. The robot detects some marks on the worktable through sensors attached to the end-effector. The necessary parameters are calculated from the data of the robot joint variables when the robot detects the mark. The model in the OLP is modified by the parameters.
The purpose of this work is to establish the basic calibration data for the efficiency of grinding by investigating the Bond's Work Index employing Korean Kaolin as a reference mateial with the laboratory-scale ball mill. A small ordinary ball mill has a dimension of 133 inside diameter and 144mm long. The analysis of the experimental results in this work sets up a equivalent calibration method with the laboratory-scale ball mill to those with special mill. The theoretical expression, derived from the rate equation proposed by Miwa, is obtained to anticipitate the stable revolution number for the next grinding cycle. The proposed equation is more systematic and acurate than lshihara's empirical equation is more systematic and acurate than lshihara's empirical equation for the measurement of gindability of a ball mill.
Near-field source localization algorithms are very sensitive to sensor gain/phase response errors, and so it is important to calibrate the errors. We took into consideration the uniform linear array and are proposing a blind calibration algorithm that can estimate the directions-of-arrival and range parameters of incident signals and sensor gain/phase responses jointly, without the need for any reference source. They are estimated separately by using an iterative approach, but without the need for good initial guesses. The ambiguities in the estimations of 2-D electric angles and sensor gain/phase responses are also analyzed in this paper. We show that the ambiguities can be remedied by assuming that two sensor phase responses of the array have been previously calibrated. The behavior of the proposed method is illustrated through simulation experiments. The simulation results show that the convergent rate is fast and that the convergent precision is high.

In this study, the daily-based reference evapotranspiration was evaluated with Hargreaves equation at the 23 meteorological stations for the time period of 1997-2006. The Hargreaves coefficient was self-calibrated to give the best fit with Penman-Monteith evapotranspiration, being regarded as a reference. On the basis of the estimated parameter set, a generalized regression was conducted to estimate the Hargreaves evapotranspiration by just using temperature data. This study will contribute to water resources planning, irrigation schedule, and environmental management.
Most of the way shape estimation method using reference sources assume that the reference sources are in the farfield. That is, the reference sources are assumed to be far from the array. However, in applications of the array with reference sources, the reference sources are not far from the way, so that in practical ocean environments, the conventional method using farfield source model fail to estimate the positions of the hydrophones. In this paper, based on the nearfield source model, a subspace-based array shape estimation method was proposed. In the proposed method, nearfield reference source is modeled using the differential time delay at each hydrophone, and nearfield parameters are derived. Using these parameters, a subspace-based array shape estimation method that generalizes the existing farfield subspace fitting method which can work regardless of the range of the source is proposed. The Cramer-Rao lower bound for the proposed method is investigated. The results of the numerical experiments indicate that the proposed method performs well in estimating the shape of a perturbed way regardless of the ranges of the reference sources.

This study had been aimed to conduct the camera calibration on VLBI antenna in the Space Geodetic Observation Center of Sejong City with a low-cost digital camera, which embedded in a mobile phone to determine the three-dimension position coordinates of the VLBI antenna, based on stereo images. The initial values for the camera calibration have been obtained by utilizing the Direct Linear Transformation algorithm and the commercial digital photogrammetry system, PhotoModeler $Scanner^{(R)}$ ver. 6.0, respectively. The accuracy of camera calibration results was compared with that the camera calibration results, acquired by a bundle adjustment with nonlinear collinearity condition equation. Although two methods showed significant differences in the initial value, the final calibration demonstrated the consistent results whichever methods had been performed for obtaining the initial value. Furthermore, those three-dimensional coordinates of feature points of the VLBI antenna were respectively calculated using the camera calibration by the two methods to be compared with the reference coordinates obtained from a total station. In fact, both methods have resulted out a same standard deviation of $X=0.004{\pm}0.010m$, $Y=0.001{\pm}0.015m$, $Z=0.009{\pm}0.017m$, that of showing a high degree of accuracy in centimeters. From the result, we can conclude that a mobile phone camera opens up the way for a variety of image processing studies, such as 3D reconstruction from images captured.
It is essential to locally adjust the Hargreaves parameter for estimating reference evapotranspiration with short data as a substitute of Penman-Monteith equation. In this study, evaluation of daily-based reference evapotranspiration is computed with Hargreaves equation. in Gyeonggi bay area including Ganghwa, Incheon, Suwon, Seosan, and Cheonan station for the time period of 1997-2004. Hargreaves coefficient is adjusted to give the best fit with Penman-Monteith evapotranspiration, being regarded as a reference. Then, the preferred parameters are validated for the same stations for the time period of 2005-2006. The optimization-based correction in calibration for 1997-2004 shows improved performance of the Hargreaves equation, giving 0.68-0.77 to 0.92-0.98 in Nash-Sutcliffe coefficient of efficiency (NSC) and 14.63-23.30 to 5.23-11.75 in RMSE. The validation for 2005-2006 shows improved performance of the Hargreaves equation, giving 0.43-0.85 to 0.93-0.97 in NSC and 14.43-26.81 to 6.48-9.09 in RMSE.
AAPM TG43 report has recommended to measure air kerma strength with the strength of source. Main purpose of this study is to verify the accuracy of air kerma strength provided by manufacturer. Materials for this study were MAX-4001 Electrometer, HDR 1000 Plus of the corporation of standard imaging, and 6 french bronchial Applicator with 1000 mm. we measured ionization current in 10-90 mm range from the bottom of the central axis of chamber. The reference point of calibration displayed by the maximum ionization current in the ionization current curve was measured, and air kerma strength was computed from the maximum ionization current. we acquired 50 mm distance to correspond with the maximum ionization current in the ionization current curve. Its distance has perfectly fitted to the source reference point of calibration certificate of UW-ADCL. Air kerma strength computed value has measured about 0.5% more than calibration value provided by manufacturer. Air kerma strength of calibration certificate provided by manufacturer has acquired reliable results. This study shows that considering the move error of dwell position of source and the dead space length in well-type chamber is a good way to get an accurate result.
