평행류 열교환기가 적용된 무선통신 중계기 냉각용 슬림형 공조기 (Slim Air-Conditioner with Parallel Flow Heat Exchangers for Cooling of Telecommunication Cabinet)

  • Slim telecommunication cabinet cooler, equipped with parallel flow heat exchangers and operating with R-22, is developed. The performance is compared with imported one, equipped with fin-tube heat exchangers and operating with R-134a. Test results show that the newly-developed cooler increases the cooling capacity by 6% and EER by 33%. The refrigerant charge for the developed cooler is 500g compared with 1250g for the imported one. The adoption of parallel flow heat exchanger appears to have reduced the refrigerant charge. In addition, it is shown that the reduced air flow rates through parallel heat exchangers as compared with those through fin-tube heat exchangers are beneficial to the reduction of the equipment noise.

상태공간평균에 의한 리튬전지 충방전 시스템의 해석 (State Space Averaging Based Analysis of the Lithium Battery Charge/Discharge System)

  • 리튬전지는 생산과정에서의 핵심인 화성공정에 의해 수명 및 성능이 크게 좌우되며, 화성공정을 처리하기 위해서 충방전 시스템이 필수적으로 요구되고 있다. 리튬전지 충방전 시스템의 특성을 해석하기 위해 일반적인 방법으로 시뮬레이션하면 충전동작과 방전동작에 엄청난 시간이 소요되고 메모리 용량의 한계로 인해 범용 PC로는 시뮬레이션이 어렵다. 본 논문에서는 리튬전지를 저항-커패시터 직렬회로로 모델링하였으며 상태공간평균의 개념을 적용하여 리튬전지 충방전 시스템을 해석하고 시뮬레이션하였다. Simplorer를 사용하여 시뮬레이션을 수행한 결과 시뮬레이션 시간이 단축되어 범용 PC로도 3시간 내에 시뮬레이션이 가능해졌으며, 리튬전지 충방전 시스템의 정전류/정전압 충전 특성 및 정전류 방전 특성과 충방전 소요시간을 예측할 수 있었다. 또한 충방전 시스템을 구성하고 실험하여 리튬전지를 저항-커패시터 직렬회로로 등가화한 모델링의 타당성과 상태공간평균의 개념을 사용하여 해석하고 시뮬레이션한 방법의 유용성을 입증하였다.

Effect of Peptide Charge on the Formation of Acylated Peptide Impurities in PLGA Formulations

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of peptide charge on the interaction between peptide and poly(D,L-lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA) for evaluating mechanism of acylated peptide formation in PLGA matrix. As a model peptide, octreotide, a synthetic somatostatin analogue and active ingredient of commercial PLGA product, was used. The disulfide group of octreotide was reduced with dithiothreitol and the sulfhydryl groups were modified with N-${\beta}$-maleimidopropionic acid (BMPA) to neutralize octreotide with positive charge in physiological conditions. The BMPA-conjugated octreotide was identified by measuring the molecular mass with liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry. In the interaction study with PLGA, native octreotide showed initial adsorption to PLGA and substantial production of acylated peptides (56% of overall peptide), whereas BMPA-conjugated octreotide showed minimal adsorption to PLGA and no acylation products for 42 days. Consequently, the neutralization of octreotide completely inhibited the peptide acylation by preventing interaction of peptide with PLGA. In conclusion, this study demonstrates that the initial polymer interaction of peptide is important step for peptide acylation in PLGA matrix and suggests the modulation of peptide charge as strategy for inhibiting the formation of acylated peptide impurities.

부재 절단을 위한 외부장약 발파의 전색효과 (Effect of Tamping Materials on the External Charge Blasting of Structural Members)

  • 강 부재와 콘크리트 부재에 대한 외부장약 발파시 전색의 효과를 확인하기 위하여 전색캡과 우레탄폼, 모래 주머니 및 점토의 전색재를 실험하였다. 실험결과로 전색캡과 우레탄 폼, 모래 주머니는 전색효과를 기대할 수 없었으나 점토전색의 경우 부재의 완전 절단에 필요한 장약량에 대해 20%의 장약절감 효과를 확인할 수 있었다. 실험의 결과로 볼 때 표준장약식에 의한 장약량 산정법이 다소 보수적인 것으로 나타났다.

Effect of Fuel Injector-type Spark Plug on Combustion Characteristics

  • This study proposes a new stratified charge system for low emission and ultra lean burn. In order to examine combustion characteristics of the new system, sparkplug with a hole at positive pole and a common CNG injector for injecting fuel were used in this study as injector-type spark plug. The new stratified charge system injects fuel of extremely small quantities and ignites mixture around sparkplug gap. Also, the system was fitted in a visualized constant volume chamber. Then, for analysis of the combustion characteristics, we examined combustion pressure, lean inflammable limit, and visualized combustion flame according to equivalence ratio by comparison with homogeneous charge (HC) method and the new stratified charge (SC) method. As results of this study, in the case of using this system, the propagation speed of initial flame was increased and total combustion period was reduced in the ultra lean burn in the same equivalence ratio. These phenomena occurred clearly under the conditions of lean equivalence ratio. Furthermore, the lean inflammable limit of mixture was extended by using the injector-type spark plug.

Synthesis and Characterization of a Hydroxylated Dendrimeric Gene Delivery Carrier

  • Arginine conjugated PAMAM dendrimer, PAMAM-R was modified with propylene oxide via hydroxylation of primary amines of arginine residues. About 49 amines were detected to be converted to amino alcohols by 1H NMR. The newly synthesized polymer, PAMAM-R-PO was able to completely retard pDNA from a charge ratio of 2. The average diameter of PAMAM-R-PO polyplex was found to be 242 nm at a charge ratio of 30. The Zeta-potential value of PAMAM-R-PO polyplex was able to reach 20-30 mV over a charge ratio of 10. PAMAM-R-PO indicated higher cell viability than unmodified PAMAM-R on HeLa and 293 cells because of its hydroxylated amines. Transfection experiments on 293 cells showed that the transfection efficiency of PAMAM-R-PO was found to be 1.5-1.9 times higher than that of PEI25kDa at a charge ratio of 30. The polymer eventually displayed about 2 times greater transfection efficiency than PAMAM-R at the same charge ratio in the absence of serum. Therefore, we concluded that the modification of primary amines of PAMAMR to amino alcohols gives positive effects such as reduced cytotoxicity and enhanced transfection efficiency on 293 cells for gene delivery potency of PAMAM-R.

폴리이미드 박막의 공간전하현상에 관한 연구 동향 (A Research Trend on High Density Polyethylene Electrical Strength)

  • Polyimide is widely used as a high-temperature insulating material. Space charge distributions in polyimide (PI) films strongly depend upon electric field, temperature, water content and so on. We observed space charge distributions in PI films with various water contents. When a dc field was applied to as-received PI films or water-treated PI films, positive and negative homo space charges were observed near the respective electrodes at 333 K. In dried PI films, the homo space charges were much reduced, and positive and negative hetero space charges in the bulk were clearly observed. The space charge amounts in water-treated PI films were smaller than in as-received ones, while the current density in water-treated PI film was larger than that in as-received one by two or more orders of magnitude. These suggest not only that the charge injection from the electrode is enhanced by absorbed water but also that absorbed water makes carriers mobile. The decay of space charge was also faster in water-treated PI than in as-received or dried one. This also supports the enhancement of apparent mobilities of carriers in PI by absorbed water.

Pd/r-TiO2 나노튜브 이종결합 광촉매의 합성과 특성 (Synthesis and Characteristics of Pd/r-TiO2 Nanotube Arrays Hetrojunction Photocatalyst)

  • To improve light absorption ability in the visible light region and the efficiency of the charge transfer reaction, Pd nanoparticles decorated with reduced TiO2 nanotube photocatalyst were synthesized. The reduced TiO2 nanotube photocatalyst was fabricated by anodic oxidation of Ti plate, followed by an electrochemical reduction process using applied cathodic potential. For TiO2 photocatalyst electrochemically reduced using an applied voltage of -1.3 V for 10 min, 38% of Ti4+ ions on TiO2 surface were converted to Ti3+ ion. The formation of Ti3+ species leads to the decrease in the band gap energy, resulting in an increase in the light absorption ability in the visible range. To obtain better photocatalytic efficiency, Pd nanoparticles were decorated through photoreduction process on the surface of reduced TiO2 nanotube photocatalyst (r10-TNT). The Pd nanoparticles decorated with reduced TiO2 nanotube photocatalyst exhibited enhanced photocurrent response, and high efficiency and rate constant for aniline blue degradation; these were ascribed to the synergistic effect of the new electronic state of the TiO2 band gap energy induced by formation of Ti3+ species on TiO2, and by improvement of the charge transfer reaction.

Gate 전하를 감소시키기 위해 Separate Gate Technique을 이용한 Trench Power MOSFET (Trench Power MOSFET using Separate Gate Technique for Reducing Gate Charge)

  • 이 논문에서 Trench Power MOSFET의 스위칭 성능을 향상시키기 위한 Separate Gate Technique(SGT)을 제안하였다. Trench Power MOSFET의 스위칭 성능을 개선시키기 위해서는 낮은 gate-to-drain 전하 (Miller 전하)가 요구된다. 이를 위하여 제안된 separate gate technique은 얇은(~500A)의 poly-si을 deposition하여 sidewall을 형성함으로서, 기존의 Trench MOSFET에 비해 얇은 gate를 형성하였다. 이 효과로 gate와 drain에 overlap 되는 면적을 줄일 수 있어 gate bottom에 쌓이는 Qgd를 감소시키는 효과를 얻었고, 이에 따른 전기적인 특성을 Silvaco T-CAD silmulation tool을 이용하여 일반적인 Trench MOSFET과 성능을 비교하였다. 그 결과 Ciss(input capacitance : Cgs+Cgd), Coss(output capacitance : Cgd+Cds) 및 Crss(reverse recovery capacitance : Cgd) 모두 개선되었으며, 각각 14.3%, 23%, 30%의 capacitance 감소 효과를 확인하였다. 또한 inverter circuit을 구성하여, Qgd와 capacitance 감소로 인한 24%의 reverse recovery time의 성능향상을 확인하였다. 또한 제안된 소자는 기존 소자와 비교하여 어떠한 전기적 특성저하 없이 공정이 가능하다.

급속압축팽창기의 제작과 완전 예혼합기의 압축착화 연소실험 (Development of a Rapid Compression Expansion Machine and Compression Ignition Combustion of Homogeneous Premixtures)

  • A flywheel-driven rapid compression and expansion machine is developed and utilized for experimental study of homogeneous charge compression ignition combustion. Compression ignition of homogeneous charge in IC engines offers possibilities of realizing ultra-lean engine operation with greatly reduced NOx and particulate formation. Fundamental investigations are carried out in order to better understand this ideal engine combustion mechanism. Perfectly premixed propane-air mixtures of various equivalence ratio are compression-ignited in the rapid compression and expansion machine, and the characteristics of the auto-ignition and the following combustion process are analyzed.
