  • This study aims to draw implications by analyzing the direction of the reorganization of French teacher policy focusing on ESPE which was introduced in 2013 according to the flow of French education reform. When looking at the major changes in the French teacher training system, three revisions have been made over the last 25 years and starting from IUFM introduced in 1991 and through in 2009, ESPE, a new teacher training institute, has been introduced in 2013 and been running. ESPE is an independent professional teacher training institution for educating teachers (from kindergarten to university) as well as education specialists and the understanding of ESPE has a significance in that it can see the direction of reform of French teacher policy in the fact that all advantages of the former system is succeed at maximum and the disadvantages are complemented. When looking at the major reorganization direction of French teacher policy, first, it has strengthened its position as a research teacher by connecting teacher training with the master's degree program. Third, eligibility criteria of teacher training become diversified and it's downgrading from master degree to bachelor degree. Fourth, teacher training, teacher recruitment exam, master degree in teaching and teacher certification are linked each other. • In this study, we investigated the current status of the teacher education curriculum and the recruitment of general science teachers, and the ways to improve them as suggested by Professors from the Department of Science Education. Most science education departments have not required double majors in general science, and there are wide differences in the number of students who take the general science programs. There is not any department that requires science courses other than its own science major courses when students get only their own in-depth science major certificate. A few departments provide integrated science courses such as history of science, scientific creativity, integrated science, and so forth. Most professors revealed negative perceptions toward 'a compulsory requirement of double majors in general science' with other in-depth science majors such as physics, chemistry, biology, and earth sciences. The majority of professors also suggested providing elective courses in integrated science-related subjects. Regarding general science majored teacher employment, most professors did not agree with separate employment for the general science teacher, although they agreed with the necessity of the general science teaching certificate. They also suggested that preservice teachers need to take science courses other than their own specialized science majors for the in-depth science teaching certificate. Based on the results, we suggested ways to improve the teacher education curriculum and the recruitment of general science teachers.

  • In this research, we investigated the historical development and ways of improvement of the teacher employment test (TET, hereafter) in Korea. This paper consists of three parts. The first part details the secondary science teacher education system in Korea. The second part elaborates upon the development of the TET since 1990's. The third part provides conclusion by addressing ways to improve science teacher education and employment systems in Korea. After all, the keen competition for teacher education and the demanding entry test ensure that secondary science teachers are selected from a pool of candidates with high academic achievement. Korean teacher employment system in general places more weight on subject knowledge. Although we cannot simply conclude that Korean science teachers must have profound knowledge in the subject matter and are competent in pedagogy, it stands to reason that the teachers could be more competent in performing their roles than those of many western countries with an acute shortage of teachers. We also suggested future directions and ways of improvement regarding teacher education and the TET in Korea.

  • In this paper, we study whether the programming questions of the Informatics·Computer recruitment tests were suitable for selecting teachers with required programming skills. The average points of the programming questions constituted 38%(20.8 points) of the total scores for the entire curriculum based on the results from analyzing the previous questions in the past 5 years. Moreover, the distribution of points for each evaluation criteria within programming and data structure, two exam subjects which have a high proportion of programming questions, demonstrated a large deviation ranging from 0% to 47% and 0% to 53% respectively. In this study, a questionnaire survey was conducted on 31 teachers to examine if the previous programming questions were suitable for measuring teachers' competency in programming abilities required in the actual teaching experience. Computational thinking ability was ranked the highest at 58% in response to the area that needs to be evaluated in the recruitment test. In response to the relevance of previous questions, problem solving ability was ranked the highest at 2.84 on a 5-point scale, but the overall appropriateness was deemed low. C language and Python were regarded as the computer languages suitable to be tested for programming questions with each ranked 55% and 45%. The finding confirms that teachers preferred Python and the incumbent C language to others. Based on the results of the questionnaire, we recommend changes in the programming questions to improve the selection criteria.

  • The purpose of this study is to find a better way for placement of teacher librarians after the revision of the Enforcement Decree of School Libraries Promotion Act. To do this, the literature research is applied for reviewing the policy and current status regarding the placement of school librarians. The Ministry of Education announced its willingness to secure the number of job openings for librarian teachers through the midium and long-term plan in the 3rd School Library Promotion Basic Plan. It is analyzed that 323 new teacher librarians need to be recruited every year, after estimating the demand for recruitment of teacher librarians by 2030, considering the 3rd school library promotion basic plan. Schools in Gyeonggi Province and Daegu with no school library personnel exclusively in charge of libraries have been allocated with temporary teacher librarians, as an attempt to comply with the legal obligation to place exclusive staff for libraries, faced with practical challenges of recruiting new teacher librarians in a limited amount of time. But survey through questionnaire method shows only 69 out of 122 survey participants, which account for 56.6%, have proper teacher librarian licences. According to the analysis of teacher librarianship status, only 146 people were trained in 2019. As a result, the field demand for librarian teachers surged, but it was found that the conditions for training excellent librarian teachers have not been provided. Therefore, it is necessary to actively prepare a way to secure a certain level of qualification holders with the qualifications of excellent teacher librarians.

  • The recent increase in preference for teacher jobs has led to a rise in preference for education colleges. Not all students can enter teachers, but they must pass the test called the competitive examination for teacher appointment candidates after graduation. However, due to the declining population, the and employment T.O.s are decreasing every year and the competition rate is rising steeply. Therefore, in order to concentrate on the recruitment exam upon entering the university, the university is becoming a huge academy for the exam, not a place to study and learn. We found a connection between students' overall school life and their use of study groups as well as their grades and whether they passed the competition test for teachers using deep running. The academic activities did not significantly affect the acceptance process, and the accuracy of the prediction of the acceptance rate was generally 70% accurate.
