  • This paper proposes two detection algorithms for Multi-user Space Time Block Code systems. The first one is linear detection Gaussian Elimination algorithm, and then it combined with Ordered Successive Cancellation to get better performance. The comparisons between receiver and other popular receivers, including linear receivers are provided. It will be shown that the performance of Gaussian Elimination receiver is similar but more simplicity than linear detection algorithms and performance of Gaussian Elimination Ordered Successive Cancellation superior as compared to other linear detection method.

  • In this letter, we propose a new multicast scheme, named Xcast+, which is an extension of Explicit Multicast (Xcast) for an efficient delivery of multicast packets. The mechanism incorporates the host group model and a new control plane into existing Xcast, and not only does it provide the transparency of traditional multicast schemes to senders and receivers, but it also enhances the routing efficiency in networks. Since intermediate routers do not have to maintain any multicast states, it results in a more efficient and scalable mechanism to deliver multicast packets. Our simulation results show distinct performance improvements of our approach compared to Xcast, particularly as the number of receivers in a subnet increases.

  • This letter proposes a simplified maximum likelihood detection (SMLD) scheme to improve the detection performance of multiple-input multiple-output receivers. The SMLD detects V streams according to the first detected V sub-streams. Through an ML test, the most probable stream is selected. Moreover, to detect the layer with the worst post-detection SNR accurately, reverse ordering is applied to the SMLD. Simulation results show that the performance of the Vertical Bell Laboratories layered space-time (V-BLAST) system can be improved by adopting the SMLD technique. In the case of reverse ordering, the SMLD can achieve a similar ML performance with significant reduction in computational complexity.

  • The color television signal and color receivers should be balanced for the same value of reference white to achieve colorimetric fidelity and to minimize interference. The NTSC signal is balanced for white at 6774 K and most existing receivers are balanced between 6500 K and 10000 K for many reasons. In this paper, we analyze beam current ratio, lightness, and channel gain ratio according to the color temperature for the three-tube projection HDTV. We also propose the brighter reference white for the three-tube projection HDTV based on the Helmholtz-Kohlrausch effect and the optical resolution of the image. In computer simulation we confirmed the most suitable reference white using the proposed analysis method.

  • This paper describes techniques to implement low-cost adapt ive Pipelined LMS filter for ASIC implement ions of high communication receivers. Power consumpiton can be reduced using a careful selection of architectural, algorithmic, and VLSI circuit techlifue A Pipelined architecture for the strength-reduced algorithm is then developed via the relaxed look-ahead transformation. This technique, which is an approximation of the conventional look-ahead compution, maintains the functionality of the algorithm rather than the input-output behavior Convergence maiysis of the Proposed architecture has been presented and support via simulation results. The resulting pipelined adaptive filter achives a higher though put requires lower power as compared to the filter using the serial algorithm.

  • In this paper, based on a detection criterion proposed recently, we investigate the performance of selective rake receivers (SRRs) in fading environment exhibiting impulsive nature. Optimum and suboptimum SRRs for the impulsive fading channel are derived, and suboptimum SRRs with reduced complexity are obtained for practical purposes. Simulation results confirm that, when the noise is impulsive the SRRs designed for impulsive noise offer performance improvement over those optimized for Gaussian environment. The suboptimum SRR is observed to exhibit almost the same performance as the optimum SRR.

  • Channel characteristics between the outdoor transmitter far away from the building and receivers inside the building are explored theoretically using ray tracing technique. In this paper, 29 receivers are located on the single floor of the building to observe the variation of channel properties depending on receiver location. For each receiver, amplitudes and phases of ail the possible rays form the transmitter to the receiver are traced to obtain impulse response. Statistical results for rms delay spread and power delay profiles for representative receiver location are given.

  • The hardware and the software of the prototype telemtry system to monitor the behavior of the fish are designed. This system consistes of five parts I. e. three omni-directional hydrophones, three ultrasonic receivers, a single board computer for the signal processing, two RF transceivers for the data communication, and a personnel computer. The sensitivty of the hydrophones is -170dB(re 1V/$\mu$Pa), the gain and the 3dB receiving bandwidth of the ultrasonic receivers are 115dB and 1500Hz respectively, and the sampling period is 33.3$\mu$sec in the signal processing part. The positioning error of the system using hyperbolic method is estimated to be less than 0.2m in case that the pinger locates inside of the baselines. The perfomance of the system considering a practical use was examined by numerical simulation and a water tank test of a pinger tracking experiment. In results, the system developed in prototype was confirmed that it could be useful for monitoring the behavior of fish in the limited water area.

  • Wireless communication systems, such as WLAN or Bluetooth receivers, employ preamble data to estimate the channel characteristics, introducing stringent settling-time constraints. This makes the use of traditional closed-loop feedback automatic gain control (AGC) circuits impractical for these applications. In this paper, a compact feedforward AGC circuit is proposed to obtain a fast-settling response. The AGC has been implemented in a 0.35 ${\mu}m$ standard CMOS technology. Supplied at 1.8 V, it operates with a power consumption of 1.6 mW at frequencies as high as 100 MHz, while its gain ranges from 0 dB to 21 dB in 3 dB steps through a digital word. The settling time of the circuit is below 0.25 ${\mu}s$.
