  • We obtain a result on complete convergence of weighted sums for arrays of rowwise independent Banach space valued random elements. No assumptions are given on the geometry of the underlying Banach space. The result generalizes the main results of Ahmed et al. [1], Chen et al. [2], and Volodin et al. [14].

  • Let ${X_{nk}}, u_n\; \leq \;k \leq \;u_n,\; n\; \geq\; 1}$ be an array of rowwise independent, but not necessarily identically distributed, random variables with $EX_{nk}$=0 for all k and n. In this paper, we povide a domination condition under which ${\sum^{u_n}}_=u_n\; S_{nk}/n^{1/p},\; 1\; \leq\; p\;<2$ converges completely to zero.

  • This paper investigates the impacts of array weight errors (AWE) in an antenna array (AA) on a parallel interference cancellation (PIC) receiver in uplink synchronous and asynchronous direct sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) systems. The performance degradation due to an AWE, which is approximated by a Gaussian distributed random variable, is estimated as a function of the variance of the AWE. Theoretical analysis, confirmed by simulation, demonstrates the tradeoffs encountered between system parameters such as the number of antennas and the variance of the AWE in terms of the achievable average bit error rate and the user capacity. Numerical results show that the performance of the PIC with the AA in the DS-CDMA uplink is sensitive to the AWE. However, either a larger number of antennas or uplink synchronous transmissions have the potential of reducing the overall sensitivity, and thus improving its performance.

  • Tremendous quantities of numerical data are generated every day from various sources, including the stock market. Universal codes such as Elias gamma coding, Elias delta coding and Fibonacci coding are generally used to store arrays of integers. Studies have been conducted to support fast access to specific elements in an integer array, while occupying less space. We suggest an improved code system that utilizes the concepts of succinct data structures. This system is based on a data structure that allows compressing a delimiter bit array while supporting queries in constant time. The results of an experiment show that the encoded array uses lower space, while not sacrificing time efficiency.

  • Let $X_1,X_2,\cdots$ be identically distributed $\rho$-mixing random variables with mean zeros and positive finite variances. In this paper, we prove $$\array{\lim\\{\in}\downarrow0}{\in}^2 \sum\limits_{n=3}^\infty\frac{1}{nlogn}P({\mid}S_n\mid\geq\in\sqrt{nloglogn}=1$$, $$\array{\lim\\{\in}\downarrow0}{\in}^2 \sum\limits_{n=3}^\infty\frac{1}{nlogn}P(M_n\geq\in\sqrt{nloglogn}=2 \sum\limits_{k=0}^\infty\frac{(-1)^k}{(2k+1)^2}$$ where $S_n=X_1+\cdots+X_n,\;M_n=max_{1{\leq}k{\leq}n}{\mid}S_k{\mid}$ and $\sigma^2=EX_1^2+ 2\sum\limits{^{\infty}_{i=2}}E(X_1,X_i)=1$.

  • The effects of random errors in array weight and sensor positions on the performance of a Linearly constrained linear sensor array is analyzed in a weight vector space. It is observed that a nonorthogonality exists between an optimum weight vector and the steering vector of an interference direction du e to random errors. A novel approach to improving the nulling performance by compensating for the nonorthogonality is proposed. Computer simulation results are presented.

  • Microarray-based DNA chips provide an architecture for multi-analyte sensing. In this paper, we report a new approach for DNA chip microarray fabrication. Multifunctional DNA chip microarrays were made by immobilizing many kinds if DNAs on transducers (particles). DNA chip microarrays were prepared by randomly distributing a mixture of the particles on a chip pattern containing thousands of micro meter-scale sites. The particles occupied different sites from array to array. Each particle cam be distinguished by a tag that is established on the particle. The particles were arranged on the chip pattern by the random fluidic self-assembly (RFSA) method, using hydrophobic interaction.

  • Let {$X_{nj}$, 1$\leq$j$\leq$n,j$\geq$1} be a triangular array of random variables which are neither independent nor identically distributed. The almost sure convergences of randomly weighted partial sums of the form $$\sum_n^{j=1}$$ $W_{nj}$$X_{nj} are studied where {Wnj 1$\leq$j$\leq$n, j$\geq$1} is a triangular array of random weights. Application regarding the Efron bootstrap is also introduced.

  • Let {$X_{ni}$, $i{\geq}1$, $n{\geq}1$} be an array of rowwise and pairwise negatively quadrant dependent random variables with mean zero, {$a_{ni}$, $i{\geq}1$, $n{\geq}1$} an array of weights and {$b_n$, $n{\geq}1$} an increasing sequence of positive integers. In this paper we consider some results concerning complete convergence of ${\sum}_{i=1}^{bn}a_{ni}X_{ni}$.
