  • We prove the multiplicity of ordered positive radial solutions for a semilinear elliptic problem defined on an exterior domain. The key argument is to prove the existence of the third solution in presence of two known solutions. For this, we obtain some partial results related to three solutions theorem for certain singular boundary value problems. Proof are mainly based on the upper and lower solutions method and degree theory.

  • In the cylindrical coordinate, the origin r = 0 plays a role of the singularity and thus much care is needed to treat near-origin region. This work presents a new numerical scheme which is derived from the exact solution under the one-dimensional assumption in the radial direction. It is shown that the near-origin region can be properly treated by the radial-exponential scheme, whereas the numerical results from the conventional exponential scheme deviate considerably from the exact solution. Over the region of small ($ {\delta}r_e/r_e$ the present radial-exponential scheme turns out to be almost the same as the exponential scheme.

  • Curved glued laminated timber (glulam) is rapidly coming into the domestic modern timber frame buildings and predominant in building construction. The radial stress is frequently occurred in curved beams and is a critical design parameter in curved glulam. Three models, Wilson equation, Exact solution and Approximation equation were introduced to determine the radial stress of curved glulam under pure bending condition. It is obvious that radial stress distribution between small radius and large radius was different due to slight change of neutral plane location to center line. If the beam design with extremely small radius, it should be considered to determine the exact location of maximum radial stress. The current standard KSF 3021 was reviewed and would be considered some adjustment determining the optimum radius in curved glulam. Current design principle is that the stress factor is given by the curvature term only in constant depth of the beam, but like tapered or small radius of beams, the stress factor by Wilson equation was underestimated. So current design formula should be considered to improvement for characterizing the radial stress factor under pure bending condition.

  • An experiment was conducted to compare the 1% safranine solution flow depth in radial and longitudinal direction of Prunus sargentii. Longitudinal flow of safranine solution was found higher than radial flow. Body ray parenchyma was found more permeable than marginal ray parenchyma and it was about 1.3 times higher. Intercellular space conducted safranine solution more than ray parenchyma. Vessel was found to be the main avenue for liquid conduction in longitudinal direction. Different anatomical features of ray, vessel and fiber affected the penetration depth of safranine solution. Moreover initial penetration depth was found to be high and thereafter decreased gradually.

  • This report describes the wood anatomy and 1% safranine solution penetration depth in radial and longitudinal directions of Anthocephalus chinensis belonging to the family Rubiaceae native to Bangladesh. The wood of this species was mostly characterized by diffuse porous, vessel with simple perforation plate, vestured alternate intervessel pittings, relatively medium vessel elements and fiber, and nonseptate fiber with distinctly bordered pits at radial wall. The body ray cell was procumbent with 2 to over 4 rows of upright and square marginal cells. Sometimes, the rays with procumbent, square and upright cells were mixed. Latewood fiber was thin to thick walled while it was very thin walled in earlywood. Axial parenchyma was diffuse, vasicentric, 5-8 cells per parenchyma strand dominantly present. Liquid penetration depth was observed in radial and longitudinal directions at moisture level of 7.42%. Longitudinal penetration was found 6.3 times higher than radial penetration. The initial penetration rate of safranine solution was high, but gradually decreased during the course of time. Different anatomical features were found to be responsible for the variation of safranine solution penetration depth compared to Gmelina arborea.

  • In this paper, we give several sufficient conditions ensuring that any positive radial solution (u, v) of the following ${\gamma}$-Laplacian systems in the whole space ${\mathbb{R}}^n$ has the components symmetry property $u{\equiv}v$ $$\{\array{-div({\mid}{\nabla}u{\mid}^{{\gamma}-2}{\nabla}u)=f(u,v)\text{ in }{\mathbb{R}}^n,\\-div({\mid}{\nabla}v{\mid}^{{\gamma}-2}{\nabla}v)=g(u,v)\text{ in }{\mathbb{R}}^n.}$$ Here n > ${\gamma}$, ${\gamma}$ > 1. Thus, the systems will be reduced to a single ${\gamma}$-Laplacian equation: $$-div({\mid}{\nabla}u{\mid}^{{\gamma}-2}{\nabla}u)=f(u)\text{ in }{\mathbb{R}}^n$$. Our proofs are based on suitable comparation principle arguments, combined with properties of radial solutions.

  • The present study is devoted to the influence of a superposed radial inflow in a rotor-stator cavity with a peripheral opening. The flow regime is turbulent, the two boundary layers being separated by a core region. An original theoretical solution is obtained for the core region, explaining the reason why a weak radial inflow has no major influence near the periphery of the cavity but strongly affects the flow behavior near the axis. The validity of the theory is tested with the help of a new set of experimental data including the radial and tangential mean velocity components, as well as three components of the Reynolds stress tensor measured by hot-wire anemometry. The theoretical results are also in good agreement with numerical results obtained with the Fluent code and experimental data from the literature.

  • Herein, we describe the effect of the cooling-off condition of a solution-processed 6,13-bis(triisopropylsilylethynyl)-pentacene (TIPS-pentacene) film on its molecular distribution and the resultant electrical properties. Since the solvent in a TIPS-pentacene droplet gradually evaporates from the rim to the center exhibiting a radial form of solute, for a quenched case, domains of the TIPS-pentacene film are aboriginally spread showing original features of radial shape due to suppressed molecular rearrangement during the momentary cooling period. For the slowly cooled case, however, TIPS-pentacene molecules are randomly rearranged during the long cooling period. As a result, in the lopsided electrodes structure proposed in this work, the charge transport generates more effectively under the case for radial distribution induced by the quenching technique. It was found that the molecular redistribution during the cooling-period plays an important role on the magnitude of the mobility in a solution-processed organic transistor. This work provides at least a scientific basis between the molecular distribution and electrical properties in solution-processed organic devices.

  • This present study has dealt with the effect of surfactant on the freezing of aqueous solution Sodium chloride aqueous solution was used to measure the effect of surfactant and the main parameters of this experiment were temperature of bath, revolution of stirrer. and the radial velocity of NaCl solution. The acquired main conclusions are as follows; 1) the lower super-cooling temperature make hardly to attach the ice on beaker, 2) the size of ice become smaller to add the surfactant, 3) the ice packing factor increase with increasing of stirrer revolution.
