양육신념, 부모협력 및 가정학습환경과 유아의 학교준비도 (Parental Beliefs, Parental Involvement, the Home Learning Environment and Children's School Readiness)

  • This study investigated the effects of three factors-mothers' parenting beliefs; child care-home involvement; and the home learning environment - on the school readiness of 3- to 5-year-olds. The subjects were 366 children who were enrolled in child care centers located in Seoul and the Kyoungki area, and their mothers. The Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) technique was employed to test the pathways to children's school readiness as indicated by the child's abilities in vocabulary, math and reading. The results showed that mothers' stronger beliefs in their responsibilities in their children's academic and behavioral development predicted greater involvement in child care and better quality in the home learning environment. Likewise, the quality of the learning environment predicted the extent of the child's readiness for school. No direct relation was found between child care involvement and the child's school readiness. The results imply that multiple factors - parental, child-care-related, and home environmental- explain the extent to which the child is prepared to adjust to scholastic life.

가정환경 자극검사(HOME)와 학령전 아동의 발달 수준과의 관계 (The Relationship of HOME to Preschool Children's Developmental Levels)

  • This study examined the characteristics of the relationship of home environment variables and preschool children's intelligence, learning readiness and socio-emotional developments. The subjects of this study were 63 children at age five and their mothers. Instruments included the children's intelligence test, preschool inventory for learning readiness, the socio-emtional rating scale and the inventory of HOME. The data of the present study were analyzed by the statistical methods of Pearson's product-moment correlation coefficient and step-wise multiple regression analysis. The kinds of HOME variables that significantly predict children's intelligence were "need gratification and avoidance of restriction" "quality of language environment" "play materials" "aspects of physical environment" "organization of stable and predictable environment". The variables that significantly predict children's socio-emotional developments were "breath of experience" "fostering maturity and independence" "developmental stimulation". All of the HOME variables were not significantly predict children's learning readiness. The kinds of HOME factors that significantly predict children's intelligence were factor II and factor III. Factor I predicted children's socio-emotional developments significantly. All of the HOME factors were not significantly predicted children's learning readiness.

보육환경의 질과 영유아의 적응 - 인천시 보육시설을 중심으로 - (Quality of Child Care Environment and Toddler's Adjustment in Child Care Centers - Based on Child Care Centers in Inchon-)

  • To examine toddlers’adjustment in child care centers according to the quality of child care environment, the followings were asked; 1. Are toddlers’adjustment in child care centers different by toddlers’individual characterisitcs, caregiyer’s individual characteristics, and/or care center variabless\ulcorner 2. Are the quality of child care center different by caregiver’s individual characteristics and child care center variables\ulcorner 3. Are toddlers’adjustment in child care centers different according to the quality of child care center\ulcorner Forty caregivers and 108 toddlers in 40 child care centers in Inchon were randomly selected. After 2 hours of observation in each child care center, the quality of child care environment were rated using Infant/Toddler Environment Rating Scate(ITERS) by 2 observers and toddlers’adjustment in child care centers were rated by caregivers using the Preschool Adjustment Questionnaire(PAQ). Toddlers’adjustment in centers were different by toddlers’gender, caregiver’s age, caregiver’s educational level, group size, and the adult/child ratio. The quality of child care environment of child care centers was different by caregiver’s age, caregiver’s career level, the length of working time, group size, and the adult/child ratio. Finally, toddler’s adjustment in child care centers were significantly different by the quality of child care environment of child care centers.

Wireless Sensors Module for Remote Room Environment Monitoring

  • For home networking system with a function of air quality monitoring, a wireless sensor module with several air quality monitoring sensors was developed for indoor environment monitoring system in home networking. The module has various enlargements for various kinds of sensors such as humidity sensor, temperature sensor, CO2 sensor, flying dust sensor, and etc. The developed wireless module is very convenient to be installed on the wall of a room or office, and the sensors in the module can be easily replaced due to well designed module structure and RF connection method. To reduce the system cost, only one RF transmission block was used for sensors' signal transmission to 8051 microcontroller board in time sharing method. In this home networking system, various indoor environmental parameters could be monitored in real time from RF wireless sensor module. Indoor vision was transferred to client PC or PDA from surveillance camera installed indoor or desired site. Web server using Oracle DB was used for saving the visions by web-camera and various data from wireless sensor module.

영아기 가정환경검사(IT-HOME) 규준 개발 연구 (A Study on the Development of the Normative Scores for the IT-HOME Inventory)

  • This study develops normative scores of the Infant/Toddler version of the Home Observation for Measurement of the Environment (IT-HOME) inventory for Korean infants and toddlers. We selected 482 0- to 36-month-old infants and families by a stratified sampling procedure that considered residency, age, and gender of children. The pass rate, discrimination rate, and internal consistency were analyzed for the item analysis. Statistical validity included intercorrelation among the IT-HOME subscales, correlation between IT-HOME scores and environmental status variables, and correlation between IT-HOME and Korean Bayley Scales of Infant Development second edition (K-BSID-II) scores. Normative scores were prepared by percentile ranks. The results of this study were as follows: First, 45 items were acceptable for Korean subjects with few exceptions. IT-HOME was developed to screen unfavorable environmental factors during infancy; therefore, items such as 12, 17, 23, 39, 44 need to be retained even though they had low discriminating power. Second, IT-HOME subscales were correlated, and IT-HOME was significantly related to parents' education level, household income level, and infant' developmental levels. Third, percentile scores and the median of each IT-HOME subscales were suggested as normative scores. We discussed the normative scores of the IT-HOME to screen the quality of home environments for children aged 0-36 months in Korea, and provide the intervention basis for the at-risk population.

  • Mobility in housing is a normative way to satisfy family needs for· better· living conditions. In the context of relative decisions. mobility can be understood as forced relocation or unforced relocation In making relocation. the household chooses a particular 'environmental quality profile. Therefore. the understanding of mobility and relocation in housing is needed for· the developing and planning of housing evnironment. The major findings are s follows ;1. The motives of mobility are composed of 4 factors('material porseperity’, 'convenience· safety'. environmental improvement' and 'forced relocation'). Especially, 'material prosperity' was defined the most fundamental factor· for. 2. The components of housing environment quality were composed of 3 factors related to the scale of home environment. They were 'neighborhood character factor', 'dwelling character· factor·'. And 'location character· factor'. The factor 'neighborhood character' was defined the basic factor· to choose for the housing environmental quality profile.3. It was examined that the motives of mobility and the components of home environmental quality were significantly different by the household characteristics (income. family life cycle. and tenure type).

학령전기 자녀의 가정환경 관련요인에 관한 연구 (A study on the Factors Related to Home Environment for Preschoolers)

  • This study attempted to explore child, family, and parents' psychological factors that were related to quality of home environment among families with preschoolers in Korea. The relationships between a series of factors and home environment and the predictive effects of the factors on HOME scores were analyzed using data from 1,690 families who participated in the5th wave of the PSKC (Panel Study of Korean Children) when the target child's age was about 4 years old. The results revealed that when the child was a boy and when the child had a difficult temperament, the overall HOME scores were lower. Mothers' age, parents' education, family income, poverty and family life events were significantly related to the HOME scores, too. All of the psychological factors of both mothers and fathers were significantly correlated with the HOME scores. When both mother and father had less depressive symptoms, lower level of parenting stress and greater marital satisfaction, the HOME scores were higher. Regression analysis showed that child's gender, father's education and mothers' marital satisfaction were relatively strong predictors of HOME. The policy implication for parent education and suggestions for future study were proposed.

스웨덴 노인보호주택을 대상으로 한 노인 건강과 삶의 질을 위한 주거환경특성연구 (Residential Design Characteristics for the Elderly's Health & Life Quality through Elderly Care Home in Sweden)

  • This research deals with the residential environment for the elderly and describes characteristics to give a positive effect on elderly's health and quality of life in Sweden. Five elderly care home recommended by a municipality staff in Stockholm are surveyed on $01\~03$ October 2003. The results of this study are as follows: 1) homelike atmosphere is regarded as a basic design concept and is applied to size, materials, scale, color, and furniture of elderly housing in Sweden, 2) regarding of the exterior features, it is similar to the ordinary house rather than institution building, 3) arrangement of spaces is planned for several small groups consisting of 6-8 residents, 4) open-space planning on public kitchen and dinning room allows residents to feel comfortable when they can hear a sound and smell a meal, 5) private flat is to provide amenities for sleeping, rest, storage, social interaction, meals, hygiene and other every activities

고령자의 청력손실을 배려한 재가보호 주거시설의 음향설계 (Listening environment design of houses for the seniors aging at home)

  • 고령자 청력손실은 노령화에 따른 대표적 현상이다. 그러나 고령자를 위한 홈케어, 노인복지주택 등의 설계는 고령자의 이동성 확보 및 안전에 초점을 맞춰 시행되고 있어 청력상실 문제를 간과하는 경우가 많다. 본 연구에서는 주거공간 내 청취환경을 개선하여 노인의 삶의 질을 향상시키는 것을 목표로 한다. 노인들의 청취 환경 개선을 위해 잔향 감소, 소음 최소화, 음질 향상에 중점을 둔 기술을 제안하고 그 효과를 검증하였다. 이를 바탕으로 고령자의 청력 손실을 배려한 재가보호 주거시설의 음향 설계 모델을 제안하고자 하였다.

다문화가족 자녀 어머니의 개인변인에 따른 가정환경 (Mother's Personal Variables in Multicultural Family on Home Environment)

  • 본 연구는 만 3세에서 6세 다문화가족 자녀 어머니의 개인변인에 따라 가정에서 자녀에게 제시하는 가정환경에 차이가 있는지를 알아보고자 하였다. 연구결과는 첫째, 국적에 따른 가정환경의 차이를 살펴보면 정서적 분위기, 경험의 다양성, 놀이 자료에서 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 연령에 따른 가정환경의 차이에서는 허용성, 독립성의 육성, 정서적 분위기, 경험의 다양성, 물리적 환경에서 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 학력에 따른 가정환경의 차이에서는 안정된 환경, 발달을 돕는 자극, 언어적 환경의 질, 독립성의 육성, 정서적 분위기, 경험의 다양성, 물리적 환경, 놀이 자료에서 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 가정 내 의사소통방법에 따른 가정환경의 차이에서는 모든 변인에서 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 다섯째, 직업유무에 따른 가정환경의 차이에서는 모든 변인에서 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다.
