Photometric reverberation mapping is an effective alternative to time consuming spectroscopy. It usually employs narrow bands to track the luminosity variations of broad emission lines, such as Balmer lines, and broadbands for the continuum variability. Here, we investigate the feasibility of substituting these for medium bands, with 50nm widths, that are currently being used on the SED Camera for QUasars in EArly uNiverse (SQUEAN) installed on the 2.1m Otto Struve Telescope at McDonald Observatory. Three targets with recent variability and/or short expected time lags were selected, and observed for 15 minutes each in the medium band containing $H{\alpha}$, and the two adjacent bands for continuum subtraction afterwards. Analysis shows that for one of the objects, SDSS J0350+0037, the pure $H{\alpha}$ emission line flux has a S/N ~ 12, so that variabilities up to ~ 8% are detectable. Thus, future observations using these medium bands on SQUEAN seem to be practical.

SJ compounds (SJ8002 and related compounds) are a group of novel anticancer agents (Cho, Chung, Lee, Kwon, Kang, Joo, and Oh. PCT/KR02/00392). To explore the anticancer mechanism of these compounds, we examined the effect of SJ8002 on microtubules of six human cell lines. At a high concentration ($2\;{\mu}g/mL$), SJ8002 effectively disrupted microtubules of the six cell lines within 1 h. At lower concentrations ($0.05\~1.0\;{\mu}g/mL$), the antimicrotubule activity of SJ8002 varied defending on cell lines. The inhibition of in vitro polymerization of pure tubulin by SJ8002 suggested that SJ8002 acts on free tubulin, inhibits the polymerization of tubulin dimer into microtubules, and hence induces the depolymerization of microtubules.
IC 443 is famous for its interaction with nearby molecular clouds and intense H2 emission lines in infrared. Therefore, it has been studied extensively for the understanding of molecular shocks. We observed H2 mission lines toward the shock-cloud interaction regions of IC 443, known as clumps B, C, and G. The observations were performed with the InfraRed Camera (IRC) onboard a satellite AKARI over 2.5-5.0 um, where previous space observations, e.g. Infrared Space Observatory (ISO) and Spitzer, do not cover. Our AKARI observations provide spectra of sequential pure-rotational and ro-vibrational H2 emission lines. For the clumps C and G, combining with previous mid-infrared observational results, we found that the H2 level populations show a significant separation between v=0 and v=1 levels; v=1 levels are under-populated than v=0 levels, therefore, the population cannot be described by two temperature LTE model, as many people have analyzed for the shocked H2 gas. We also applied the thermal admixture model, dN(H2; T)~T^(-b) dT, with varying ortho-to-para ratios according to the temperature, to describe the level population, and obtained plausible ranges of the H2 gas density and power-law index b.
In [4], the authors show that if ${\mathbb{X}}$ is a ${\mathbb{k}}-configuration$ in ${\mathbb{P}}^2$ of type ($d_1$, ${\ldots}$, $d_s$) with $d_s$ > $s{\geq}2$, then ${\Delta}H_{m{\mathbb{X}}}(md_s-1)$ is the number of lines containing exactly $d_s-points$ of ${\mathbb{X}}$ for $m{\geq}2$. They also show that if ${\mathbb{X}}$ is a ${\mathbb{k}}-configuration$ in ${\mathbb{P}}^2$ of type (1, 2, ${\ldots}$, s) with $s{\geq}2$, then ${\Delta}H_{m{\mathbb{X}}}(m{\mathbb{X}}-1)$ is the number of lines containing exactly s-points in ${\mathbb{X}}$ for $m{\geq}s+1$. In this paper, we explore a standard ${\mathbb{k}}-configuration$ in ${\mathbb{P}}^2$ and find that if ${\mathbb{X}}$ is a standard ${\mathbb{k}}-configuration$ in ${\mathbb{P}}^2$ of type (1, 2, ${\ldots}$, s) with $s{\geq}2$, then ${\Delta}H_{m{\mathbb{X}}}(m{\mathbb{X}}-1)=3$, which is the number of lines containing exactly s-points in ${\mathbb{X}}$ for $m{\geq}2$ instead of $m{\geq}s+1$.
$^1H$ NMR spectra of imidazole, 2-and 4(5)-methylimidazole, histamine, L-histidine, L-histidine methyl ester, N${\alpha}$-acetyl-L-histidine, and L-carnosine coordinated to the paramagnetic undecatungstocobalto(II)silicate ($SiW_{11}Co$) and undecatungstonickelo(II)silicate ($SiW_{11}Ni$) anions are reported. For these complexes the ligand exchange is slow on the NMR time scale and the pure resonance lines of the free ligand and the complexes have been observed separately at room temperature. Two different complexes are formed, depending upon which nitrogen atom of the imidazole ring is coordinated to the cobalt or nickel ion of $SiW_{11}M$. Thus the NMR spectrum of a $D_2O$ solution containing a ligand and $SiW_{11}M$ consists of three sets of lines originating from the free ligand and two complexes. All NMR lines of the $SiW_{11}Co$ complexes have been assigned unequivocally using the saturation transfer technique. The temperature dependence of some spectra are also reported. The NMR spectra of some complexes show that the internal rotation of the substituent on the imidazole ring is hampered by the heteropolyanion moiety even at room temperature.
This study aimed to cross between Korean and Japanese pure lines of Neopyropia strains to establish cross breeding technology and identify a superior variety that harbors the strength of both parents. Four crossing combinations were tried using three methods, resulting in 1,476 single conchocelis colonies. The three co-dominant Cleaved Amplified Polymorphic Sequence (CAPS) markers (EF-1α/Mse I, TOP2/Mse I, car A/ApaL I) were used to distinguish heterozygotic sporophytes and their maternal lines obtained from the inter and intraspecific cross-fertilization within the wild type of Neopyropia strains. Of the 1,476 colonies, 26.9% (218) were heterozygotes obtained from the nuclear CAPS markers. Their maternal line was clearly confirmed using organelle CAPS marker and chimeric thallus was obtained from crossing experiment of Japanese N. yezoensis (♀) and Korean N. yezoensis (♂). The use of CAPS markers improved the efficiency of crossbreeding by quickly screening heterozygotes and maternal lines in the conchocelis phase, which otherwise required pigmentation mutants as genetic markers.
To obtain pure lines for breeding $F_1$ varieties of Primula malacoides, 10 lines that were considered uniform in growth and flowering characteristics were selected from self-crossings of the sixth generation ($S_6$). Plant height of the selected lines ranged from 20.8 to 33.2 cm, and number of leaves ranged from 33.6 to 54.2. The selected lines flowered at 181.4 to 207.8 days after sowing. Three lines, including 'PR-03-81', flowered in less than 190 days from sowing, while six lines, including 'PR-03-228', only flowered after more than 200 days from sowing. In terms of petal color, six lines, including 'PR-03-81', were pink, three, including 'PR-03-236', were purple, and line 'PR-03-275' was white. Flower diameter ranged from 2.4 to 2.9 cm, and number of pedicels per plant was between 15.4 and 26.4. Number of flowers per pedicel ranged from 20.2 to 30.2. Germination was more than 70%, and number of seeds per capsule (pod) ranged from 110.0 to 162.8. In summary, plant height was low and flower diameter was small and plants had many flowers and readily formed seeds. The selected lines are not only valuable as ornamental plants but could also be used as breeding materials for $F_1$ hybrids of Primula polyantha.
Objective : To compare and examine how adjustment of pH and electrolyte can affect the efficacy of cultivated wild ginseng distilled herbal acupuncture, we've administered pure cultivated wild ginseng distilled herbal acupuncture and pH and electrolyte adjusted cultivated wild ginseng distilled herbal acupuncture on A549 human lung cancer lines. Then mRNA and proteins which take parts in apoptosis were examined. Methods : Pure cultivated wild ginseng distilled herbal acupuncture treated group was set as the control group and pH and electrolyte adjusted cultivated wild ginseng distilled herbal acupuncture groups were administered on A549 human lung cancer lines. Cell toxicity was carefully examined and from the analysis of DNA fragmentation, RT-PCR, and Western blot, manifestation of mRNA and proteins which are associated with apoptosis were inspected. Results : The following results were obtained on apoptosis of A549 human lung cancer lines after administering pH and electrolyte adjusted cultivated wild ginseng distilled herbal acupuncture. 1. Measuring cell toxicity of lung cancer cells, higher cell toxicity was detected at pH and electrolyte adjusted groups and the results were concentration dependent. 2. Through DNA fragmentation, we were able to confirm cell destruction in all groups. 3. Experiment groups treated with cultivated wild ginseng distilled herbal acupuncture showed inhibition of Bcl-2 and COX-2 at mRNA and Protein level, whileas increase of Bax was shown. 4. Manifestation of p21, p53, Cyclin E, and Cyclin D1 were confirmed in all groups. 5. Extrication of Cytochrome C was detected at all groups, as well as increased activity of the enzyme caspase-3 and caspase-9, and PARP fragmentation were confirmed. Conclusions : From the above results, we can carefully deduce cell destruction of A549 human lung cancer lines were induced by Apoptosis. At the same concentration level, cell destruction efficacy was better with adjusted pH and electrolyte. Cultivated wild ginseng distilled herbal acupuncture also showed decrease of Bcl-2 and COX-2, as well as increase of Bax. Since cultivated wild ginseng distilled herbal acupuncture increases manifestation of p21, p53, Cyclin E, and Cyclin D1, it affects cellular cycle and through these phenomena, we can consider extrication of Cytochrome C, increase of caspase, and PARP fragmentation are the results.

Sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L.) is a major cereal grain crop of the world and It can be cultivated under high temperature and dry condition with high adaptability to the adverse environment. It is usually eaten with rice in korea and most of domestic sorghum cultivars have been developed by pure line selection and cross breeding. In prior studies, Hybrid cultivar (F1 seed) was known to improve 30-40% in yield and resist to disease and pest than pure line varieties due to hybrid vigor. Therefore, study on the hybrid sorghum is continuously necessary. In korea, hybrid sorghum cultivar have been developed, so we need to find methods seed production technology for supply and commercialization of hybrid seed cultivar. Female inbred line(A-line) and male inbred line(R-line) are needed for hybrid seed production. This study was carried out to investigate growth characteristics and yield of hybrid sorghum according to the seedling period and planting rate between female inbred line(YSA1) and male inbred line (Sodamchal, Miryang 19). When the flowering period of two inbred groups in the process of hybrid seed production is coincides, hybrid seed production is increase. The female inbred line and male inbred lines were cultivated at Daegu in 2021. Two inbred lines were sown at intervals of 3 days and 7days and were evaluated flowering period. As a result, the flowering period of the female inbred line and male inbred lines were matched at the 7days interval. To find out optimal planting rate, two inbred lines were cultivated under different plating rate (4:2, 5:2, 6:2). Yield of YSA1/Sodamchal(F1) was the highest 130(kg/10a) in the 4:2 ratio and yield of YSA1/Miryang 19 was the highest quantity of 139(kg/10a) in the 6:2 ratio. The results of this study could be helpful for hybrid Sorghum seeds production.

Finding a safe and broad-spectrum medication is a goal of scientists, pharmacists, and physicians, but developing and fabricating the right medicine can be challenging. The current study describes the formation of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) by Fusarium mangiferae. It involves the antibiofilm activity of the nanoparticles against Staphylococcus aureus. It also involves cytotoxic effect against mammalian cell lines. Well-dispersed nanoparticles are formed by F. mangiferae. The sizes of the nanoparticles were found to range from 25 to 52 nm, and UV-Vis scan showed absorption around 416-420 nm. SEM, TEM, and AFM results displayed spherical and oval shapes. Furthermore, the FTIR histogram detected amide I and amide II compounds responsible for the stability of AgNPs in an aqueous solution. AgNPs were observed to decrease the formation of biofilm at 75% (v/v). DNA reducing, smearing, and perhaps fragmentation were noticed after treating the bacterial cells with 50% (v/v). Additionally, cell lysis was detected releasing proteins in the supernatant. It was also observed that the AgNPs have the ability to cause 59% cervical cancer cell line (HeLa) deaths at 25% (v/v), however, they showed about 31% toxicity against rat embryo fibroblast transformed cell lines (REF). The results of this study prove the efficiency of AgNPs as an antibiofilm against S. aureus, suggesting that AgNPs could be an alternative to antibiotics. It must also be emphasized that AgNPs displayed cytotoxic behavior against mammalian cell lines. Further studies are needed for assessing risk in relation to the possible benefit of prescribing AgNPs.
