Step Pulse Shaping Technique for Nd:YAG Laser Using a Multi-Switching Method

  • Throughout manufacturing processes, pulse shaping is required for material processing and it is regarded as an important (actor according to the specific characteristics of materials. Therefore, this study suggests a highly appropriate pulse shaping technique using a multi-switching method. This is a pulse superposition method in which one flash lamp can consecutively turn on by the double switching of the discharging system. It is possible to construct a variety of pulse shapes and pulse widths by the consecutive trigger of the silicon-controlled rectifiers (SCR) of a PIC (program integrated circuit) one-chip microprocessor. The use of this technique can provide a number of advantages to people who require suitable pulse shaping for particular applications such as welding, cutting, and drilling.

  • 된 논문은 국내 UWB 스펙트럼 환경에 적합하도록 펄스 성형을 통해 TH-UWB 시스템의 개념을 확장한 TH-Multiband-UWB 시스템을 구현하는 것을 그 목표로 한다. 이러한 펄스 성형을 위하여 Multi-Carrrier 형태의 전송 펄스를 제안하며, 간섭 주파수 검출을 위해 무선 인지 기술(Cognitive Radio)을 사용했다. 무선 인지 기술의 핵심이 되는 Cognitive Engine의 연산 알고리즘으로는 유전 알고리즘을 이용했다. 또한 성형된 펄스와 무선 인지 기술을 적용한 TH-UWB시스템이 동일 UWB 시스템을 비롯한 타 통신 시스템과의 간섭 상황을 해결하는 방법을 제시하였다. 이를 통해 본 논문은 무선 인지 엔진이 간섭 주파수를 찾아내는 방법을 알아보았고, 펄스 성형을 적용한 TH-UWB 시스템이 문제가 되는 간섭 상황을 해결하는데 뛰어난 성능이 있음을 확인하였다.

스텐레스 강 용접부에 형성되는 결함의 저감에 미치는 레이저 펄스 파형의 영향 (Effect of Laser Pulse Shaping on Reduction in Defects of Stainless Steel Sport Weld Metals)

  • This paper describes the effectiveness of laser pulse shaping in eliminating weld defects such as porosity, cracks and undercuts in pulsed Nd:YAG Laser welding. A large porosity was formed in a keyhole mode of deep penetration weld metal of any stainless steel. Solidification cracks were present in Type 303 with about 0.3%s. The conditions for the formation of porosity were determined in further detail in Type 316. With the objectives of obtaining a fundamental knowledge of formation and prevention of weld defects, the fusion and solidification behavior of a molten puddle was observed during laser spot welding of Type 310S. through high speed video photographing technique. It was deduced that cellular dendrite tips grew rapidly from the bottom to the surface, and consequently residual liquid remained at the grain boundaries in wide regions and enhanced the solidification cracking susceptibility. Several laser pulse shapes were investigated and optimum pulse shapes were proposed for the reduction and prevention of porosity and solidification cracking.

  • Many methods have been Proposed to reduce the PAPR of the OFDM signal. Among them a method that uses the time waveform of the different sub-carriers. The method is referred to as pulse shaping and it works with arbitrary number of sub-carriers and my type of base-band linear modulation. It has been shown, using this technique, that it is possible to design a set of time waveforms that reduce the PAPR of the OFDM transmitted signal and improve its power spectrum simultaneously. In this paper, we investigate the effect of some of these sets of time waveforms on the OFDM system performance in terms of Bit Error Rate (BER).

  • 타원형 모양의 모드 형태를 갖는 펄스형 레이저 다이오드 (laser diode)의 펄스 형태를 유지하면서 단일 모드 및 Gaussian 형태로 광 모드 변환을 유도하고 광출력을 증폭할 수 있는 기술에 대해서 연구하였다. 실험에서 사용한 펼스형 레이저 다이오드의 구경이 가로는 $300{\mu}m$이며, 세로는 $2{\mu}m$이고 출력은 $1.1mW/cm^2$이다. 렌즈형 광섬유를 사용하여 광결합을 유도하여 단일 모드 및 Gaussian 형태의 출력으로 변환시켰다. 그러나, 다중모드의 펄스형 레이저 다이오드의 출력을 단일모드 렌즈형 광섬유에 결합시키면 출력이 급격하게 감소한다. 따라서 master oscillator power amplifier (MOPA) 기반의 광증폭 기술을 이용하여 레이저 다이오드의 광출력을 증폭시켰다. 증폭 후에도 펄스 성질은 그대로 유지되었고, MOPA구조를 지나 증폭된 광 출력은 $29mW/cm^2$로 측정되었다.

  • 본 논문에서는 F 컨버터의 능동형 PFC 시스템을 구성하고, 진력 변환시 입력 전류를 전원 전압과 동장연 정현파로 제이하는 동시에 출력 전압에 포함되는 고조파 등의 잡음을 제거하고 직류 출력 전압을 제어하기 위한 PWM-PFM 제어 기법을 제시하였다. 부하단에서 필요한 전압과 높은 전력 효율을 얻기 위하여 인버터 단계애서 전류 성형 제어를 실행한 후, 순방­향(forward) 컨버터에 의해 다시 직류 전압으로 변환시켜 부하단으로 출력한다. 입력 전압이 30[V]이교 승압 (boost) 인덕터가 1.1[mH]일 때 정격 출력은 전압 50[V], 전류1[A], 듀티비 0.5 이상으로 하여 부하 처항에 따른 전압 변화를 PWM-PFM 제어 기법을 이용하며 제어하였고, 전류 성형 기법을 이용하여 0.93획 역률로 고조파를 감쇠 및 개선하였다.

Sidelobe Suppression Enhancement of Radiofrequency Photonic Filters via Time-to-frequency Mapping

  • We present a multi-tap microwave photonic filter with high selectivity through applying time-to-frequency mapping and optical frequency comb shaping techniques. When arranged in the time-to-frequency mapping stage, by a Fourier transform, the deviation of the optical taps to the target profile is significantly reduced while maintaining the apodization profile, resulting in high sidelobe suppression in the filters. By applying a simple time-to-frequency mapping stage to the conventional optical frequency combs, we demonstrate a substantially enhanced (>10dB) sidelobe suppression, resulting in filter lineshapes exhibiting a significantly high (>40dB) main lobe to sidelobe suppression ratio. These results highlight the potential of the technique for implementation in various passband filters with high sidelobe suppression.

  • A measurement-based time-domain noise simulation of radiation detector-preamplifier (front-end) noise in nuclear spectroscopy is described. The time-domain noise simulation was performed by generating "noise random numbers" using Monte Carlo's inverse method. The probability of unpredictable noise was derived from the empirical cumulative distribution function via the sampled noise, which was measured from a preamplifier output. Results of the simulated noise were investigated as functions of time, frequency, and statistical domains. Noise behavior was evaluated using the signal wave-shaping function, and was compared with the actual noise. Similarities between the response characteristics of the simulated and the actual preamplifier output noises were found. The simulated noise and the computed nuclear pulse signal were also combined to generate a simulated preamplifier output signal. Such simulated output signals could be used in nuclear spectroscopy to determine energy resolution degradation from front-end noise effect.

  • The random pulse width modulation(RPWM) on the noise and vibration abatement in inverter-fed induction motor drive is presented. This paper describes a RPWM technique based on space vector PWM strategy for shaping the switching noise spectrum in such a way it can merge with the natural system noise. To verify the validity of the proposed RPWM scheme, the experiment based on the TMS320 C3l microprocessor was executed. Finally, the simulation and experimental results will be given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed RPWM technique.
