  • Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the effects of various factors on smartphone addiction according to types of risk groups among middle school students. Methods: Data of 223 students were collected from February 1st to 22nd of 2020. The collected data were analyzed through t-test, χ2 test, correlaton coefficients, and multiple regression analysis. The smartphone addiction scale was used to classify the participants into two groups; 18.8% (n=42) of the total respondents were categorized as the addiction risk group and 81.2% (n=181) were categorized as the general population group. Results: The factors associated with the students in the high risk group were grade (t=3.89, p=.036) and religion (F=3.79, p=.044). In the high risk group, psychological anxiety (β=.39, p=.005) and relapse of internet addiction (β=.38, p=.006) explained 46.0% of smartphone addiction, while in the normal risk group, relapse of internet addiction (β=.42, p<.001), psychological anxiety (β=.22, p=.004), tolerance of internet addiction (β=.17, p=.007), and academic stress (β=.14, p=.027) explained 51.0% of smartphone addiction. Conclusion: In order to prevent smartphone addiction in middle school students, a more specific nursing intervention is needed that can reduce psychological anxiety and relapse of internet addiction. It is clear that urgent measures need to be taken for the highly addicted students such as academic counseling.

The results of confirmatory factor analysis in deriving food selection type identified four categories, a safety seeking type, a food exploratory type, a habitual seeking type, and a rational type, and the cognition types on health information were classified into physical cognition and psychological cognition. The need for healing, which was the investigated factor, was found to have a high correlation between questionnaire items with high reliable consistency. The results of this study were as follows. First, the food selection types of safety seeking type and habitual food seeking type had significant positive effects on the cognitive level of physical health information, and food exploratory type and habitual seeking type had significant positive effects on the cognitive level of psychological health information. In addition, it was shown that food exploratory type and rational type had significant positive effects on healing needs. As a result of this study, it was found that the cognition level of physical and psychological information was different according to food selection type, and the higher the cognitive level, the higher the healing needs. In particular, the result that the level of psychological health information significantly affected healing needs signifies that there is a demand to develop programs and menus that satisfy various needs related to healing and recovery from fatigue. In addition, further interest and study on the health and healing of night workers are required.

  • This study was conducted with the purpose of exploring the relationship dynamics of couples who experienced dating violence. For this purpose, interviews were conducted with 15 couples who experienced dating violence. The collected data was analyzed using the consensual qualitative research(CQR) method. As a result, 3 domains, 13 categories, and 30 subcategories were derived. Domain 1 was about "the direction of the dynamics of perpetration and victimization, types of violence, and experience level," and found that the dynamics of perpetration and victimization are bidirectional, and that there are situational and controlling types of violence. For domain 2, we explored "major conflict themes, unique perceptions, and psychological dynamics of violence" and identified "other and communication issues" and "interference and personality issues" as major conflict themes, "gender stereotypes" and "violence permissive beliefs" as unique perceptions, and "attribution styles," "major emotions," and "coping styles" as psychological dynamics of violence. For domain 3, we looked into the 'changes in commitment and satisfaction as well as relationship maintenance factors' and presented changes in commitment and satisfaction, and found that the relationship maintenance factors were divided into positive and negative factors. These results are significant in that dating violence consists of mutual abuse and that it empirically revealed the detailed elements of the psychological dynamics of male and female. This was compared and analyzed with previous studies, and limitations and future research were also presented.

  • In this paper, we propose that college counselors be more knowledgable of adult ADHD symptoms and develop better understandings of subtypes of the disorder. The findings in this study show that college students with different subtypes of ADHD symptoms experience different types of psychological maladjustment as well as different levels of psychological distress. Specifically, combined-type trait group show the highest levels of each of subscale of SCL-90-R among the other groups (i.e., normal, predominant inattentive subtype, hyperactive-impulsive type). Furthermore, combined typed trait group show significantly higher levels of animosity and paranoid ideation than the others. Therefore, college counselors need to provide effective interventions addressing intense emotion and cognitive distortion among college students with ADHD combined symptoms.

  • The present study analyzed the KOCCA's Game Immersion data to explore the relationship between psychological traits and game immersion. Psychological traits were classified into four categories; emotional stability, self-esteem, willpower, and happiness. These were put into the multiple regression analysis as the dependent variables with age, sex (dummy), economic status of the homes, variety of leisure activities, friend and family relationship, and time to play games. Four types of immersion (psychological unstability, bad relationship, interrupted daily lives, and failure to control game time and desire) were put into the multiple regression analysis as the independent variables. The multiple regression analysis indicated that the dependent variables predicted the game immersion. Among the psychological traits emotional stability was the strongest factor (negative) that influences the game immersion. Next powerful indicator (negative) among the psychological traits was self-esteem. Based on the findings, measures to alleviate the problems of game immersion and ideas for further research were suggested.
