  • Electrical impedance tomography(EIT) is a relatively new imaging modality in which the internal impedivity distribution is reconstructed based on the known sets of injected currents and measured voltages on the surface of the object. In this paper, an effective dynamic EIT imaging scheme is presented based on the projection filtering to estimate the unknown resistivity distribution. In particular, pre-integration (pre-grouping) technique is employed to stabilize the inverse algorithm. We carried out computer simulations with synthetic data to illustrate the reconstruction performance of the proposed algorithm.

  • Purpose : In this paper we proposed cascade feature filter and projection method for rapid human face recognition for the large-scale high-dimensional face database. Materials and Methods : The relevant features are selected from the large feature set using Fast Correlation-Based Filter method. After feature selection, project them into discriminant using Principal Component Analysis or Linear Discriminant Analysis. Their cascade method reduces the time-complexity without significant degradation of the performance. Results : In our experiments, the ORL database and the extended Yale face database b were used for evaluation. On the ORL database, the processing time was approximately 30-times faster than typical approach with recognition rate 94.22% and on the extended Yale face database b, the processing time was approximately 300-times faster than typical approach with recognition rate 98.74 %. Conclusion : The recognition rate and time-complexity of the proposed method is suitable for real-time face recognition system on the large-scale high-dimensional face database.

  • In this paper, we propose an adaptive histogram projection technique for dynamic range compression and an efficient detail enhancement method which is enhancing strong edge while reducing noise. First, The high dynamic range image is divided into low-pass component and high-pass component by applying 'guided image filtering'. After applying 'guided filter' to high dynamic range image, second, the low-pass component of the image is compressed into 8-bit with the adaptive histogram projection technique which is using global standard deviation value of whole image. Third, the high-pass component of the image adaptively reduces noise and intensifies the strong edges using standard deviation value in local path of the guided filter. Lastly, the monitor display image is summed up with the compressed low-pass component and the edge-intensified high-pass component. At the end of this paper, the experimental result show that the suggested technique can be applied properly to the IR images of various scenes.

  • We propose a phase contrast filter using photopolymer, for the phase contrast projection display. The photopolymer has high photosensitivity such that its optically induced refractive index change has a linear dependency on the illuminating light intensity. We implemented a phase contrast projection display using photopolymer as a phase contrast filter. By controlling the refractive index change of the photopolymer, we successfully convert an input phase image into a high contrast intensity image. We also investigated the effect of the photopolymer illumination condition on the quality of the displayed intensity image. As a projector, we achieved 82% phase to intensity conversion efficiency, which implies that the proposed method can potentially have much higher light efficiency than conventional projection display.

  • The reconstruction problem in a low dose case requires some compromise of resolution and noise artifacts, and also some modification of filter kernels depending on the signal-to-noise ratio of projection data. In this paper, ail algorithm for the reconstruction of an image function from noisy projection data is suggested, based on minimum-mean-square error criterion. Modification of the falter kernel is made from information (statistics) obtained from the projection data. The simulation study Proves that this algorithm, based on the Wiener falter approach, provides substantially improved image with reduction of noise as well as improvement of the resolution. An approximate method was also studied which leads to the possible use of a recursive filter in the convolution process of image reconstruction.

  • In the radio communication, such as echo cancellation and channel equalization, adaptive filtering is very practical. Its convergence behavior that is used for updating the weights depends on the correlation of the input signal and length of adaptive filter. Highly correlated input and long length of adaptive filter deteriorate the convergence behavior. To solve this problem, recently, subband affine projection algorithm which pre-whiten the correlation of the input and update the weights in subband structure has been presented. This paper presents convergence analysis method of multiple constrained subband affine projection algorithm.

  • This paper presents a statistical analysis of the MSE of adaptation for the MPDSAP (Maximally polyphase decomposed Subband Affine Projection) algorithm for the an autoregressive (AR) inputs with P order. In subband structure, the Affine Projection (AP) algorithm is transformed to the Normalized Least Mean Square (NLMS) algorithm by applying the polyphase decomposition and the noble identity to the adaptive filter. And also, AR input can be pre-whitened by subband filtering with the Orthonormal Analysis Filters(OAF). In the subband structure, the pre-whitening of the AR(P) inputs provides simple and valid approximations for a statistical analysis of the MSE behaviors for the SAP adaptive filter.
