고밀도 디스크 드라이브의 서보트랙 기록오차 보정 알고리즘 (A New Correction Algorithm of Servo Track Writing Error in High-Density Disk Drives)

  • The servo tracks of disk drives are constructed at the time of manufacture with the equipment of servo track writer. Because of the imperfection of servo track writer, disk vibrations and head fluctuations during servo track writing process, the constructed servo tracks might deviate from perfect circles and take eccentric shapes. The servo track writing error should be corrected because it might cause interference with adjacent tracks and irrecoverable operation error of disk drives. The servo track writing error is repeated every disk rotation and so is periodic time function. In this paper, we propose a new correction algorithm of servo track writing error based on iterative teaming approach. Our correction algorithm can learn iteratively the servo track writing error as accurately as is desired. Furthermore, our algorithm is robust to system model errors, is computationally simple, and has fast convergence rate. In order to demonstrate the generality and practical use of our work, we present the convergence analysis of our correction algorithm and some simulation results.

Innovative Writing Assignments in Engineering to Enhance Learning, Thinking and Motivation

  • Three benefits of incorporating writing in engineering curricula are presented. The first benefit is in improving the communication skills which are essential for engineers and are attained through practice. The second benefit is in enhancing learning and is achieved by utilizing the complex process of writing to heighten the level of understanding. The third benefit, though difficult to recognize and even more difficult to promote in a society (and educational institutes) steeped in the behaviorist tradition, is in promoting meaningful learning by cultivating motivation internal to students themselves. The boundaries of writing activities are broadened to include that of stating a paragraph or even one complete sentence such that it may be incorporated in engineering without undue strain. A two-year trial of incorporating four types of writing assignments in six different courses (a total of 12 classes) at Michigan Technological University shows that writing assignments can be designed to achieve different degrees of the three aforementioned benefits. It is found that different types of writing activities need to be assigned depending on the status of course (elective vs. required) and on the composition of the students taking the course (upper division vs. lower division; majors vs. non-majors).

창의적 글쓰기를 활용한 읽기와 쓰기 통합지도용 학습독서 전략 개발 (Development of Reading Strategies to Learn for Integrating Reading and Writing through Creative Writing)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 학교도서관에서 읽기와 쓰기를 통합 지도 할 수 있는 학습독서 전략을 개발하여 제안하는 것이다. 읽기와 쓰기 전략은 인지과정에 기반을 둔 절차와 관련된 간접전략과, 절차의 성공적 수행을 도와주는 직접전략으로 나눌 수 있다. 따라서 읽기와 쓰기를 통합한 학습독서 전략을 교수설계모형에 해당하는 간접전략과 모형의 각 단계별 구체적인 실행 방안을 담은 직접전략으로 구성하였다. 본 연구에서는 학습독서가 프로그램 형태로 운영될 수 있는 상황을 고려하여 간접전략인 기본 모형을 준비-설계-운영-평가와 같이 4단계로 설정하였다. 그리고 읽기와 쓰기를 통합 지도하는 학습독서 운영 단계는 '주제정하기-목차쓰기-탐구하기-집필하기-수정하기-출판하기'와 같이 6단계로 구성하였다. 또한 각 운영 단계별로 읽기와 쓰기 활동을 구체적으로 도와줄 수 있는 직접전략을 제시하였다.

유창성 실어증 환자의 구어와 문어 문장산출 능력 비교 (A Comparative Study of Spoken and Written Sentence Production in Adults with Fluent Aphasia)

  • Traditionally it has been assumed that written abilities are completely dependent on phonology. Therefore spoken and written language skills in aphasic patients have been known to exhibit similar types of impairment. However, a number of latest studies have reported the findings that support the orthographic autonomy hypothesis. The purpose of this study was to examine whether fluent aphasic patients have discrepancy between speaking and writing skills, thereby identifying whether the two skills are realized through independent processes. To this end, this study compared the K-FAST speaking and writing tasks of 30 aphasia patients. In addition, 16 aphasia patients, who were capable of producing sentences not only in speaking but also in writing, were compared in their performances at each phase of the sentence production process. As a result, the subjects exhibited different performances between speaking and writing, along with statistically significant differences between the two language skills at positional and phonological encoding phases of the sentence production process. Therefore, the study's results suggest that written language is more likely to be produced via independent routes without the mediation of the process of spoken language production, beginning from a certain phase of the sentence production process.

과정중심 수학 동시 쓰기가 학생들의 수학 학업성취도와 수학적 태도에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of the Process-based Mathematics Children's Verse Writing Activities on Mathematics Achievements and Attitudes)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 수학수업에 동시를 도입하여 과정중심 수학 동시 쓰기활동 프로그램을 개발하여 적용한 후 이 프로그램이 수학 학업성취도와 수학적 태도에 미치는 효과를 알아보는 데 있다. 본 연구를 위해 서울시 노원구의 Y초등학교 4, 5, 6학년 각각에 실험반과 비교반을 선정하여 128명의 학생들에게 개발한 프로그램을 2개월 동안 적용하였다. 개발한 과정중심 수학 동시 쓰기활동 프로그램은 아이디어 생성하기, 아이디어 선택 적용하기, 아이디어 정리하기, 작품화하기의 4단계로 구성하여 수업에 적용하였다. 사전 사후 검사는 통계프로그램인 I-Statistics을 이용하여 독립표본 t-검정과 종속표본 t-검정을 실시하였고, 수업에 대한 학생들의 생각이나 느낌을 좀 더 구체적으로 알아보기 위해 단원의 모든 차시 수업이 끝난 후 수업 반응에 대하여 설문지를 작성하도록 하여 분석하였다. 연구 결과 도형 영역에서의 과정중심 수학 동시 쓰기활동은 4학년과 5학년 학생들의 수학 학업성취도에 유의미한 차이가 나타나지 않았지만, 6학년에서는 유의미한 차이를 보였고, 모든 학년에서 수학적 태도 개선에 긍정적인 영향을 주었다. 후속연구로 수학 동시를 활용한 다양한 수업 자료의 개발과 효과적인 다양한 수학 수업을 위한 지속적인 연구가 필요함을 제안하였다.

Writing education using Characteristics at hypertext

  • This paper focuses on how the latest progress in digital media and technology affects the writing education environment. In the contemporary era, collecting numerous pices of information online, and arranging them to create new knowledge is important. There is also a need to seek new methods for writing education to stay in tune with the times. To that end, this paper suggests an open writing model using hypertexts. This writing model consists of a total of five stages, which are use of information, compilation of information, open mutual discussion, search of additional information and writing to recreate knowledge. The final outcome of such writing is writing using footnotes. By describing the gist of the keyword and adding numerous footnotes, such writing opens up an infinite possibility of re-creating information into new knowledge. This method can help university students who are accustomed to the digital society to proactively use information and improve multi-disciplinary communication skills required today. This author applied such a model to university writing education and found that more than 82% of the students were satisfied. Through the process of collaboration and recreation of knowledge in writing, learners found distinct benefits and noted their horizons had broadened. Given this effect, the open writing model using hypertexts is meaningful in that it forms a learning community that goes beyond a one-way feedback from instructor to student and instead nudges students to realize collective intellect. Moreover, it is meaningful in that it moves away from a top-down approach of the instructors passing down knowledge about writing and its rules, and towards a more proactive involvement by students in creating knowledge.

문제 해결 방식의 아홉 단계 '쓰기 전' 과정 (A 9-Step Prewriting Process As the Problem Solving Approach)

  • 이 논문에서는 과정 중심의 글쓰기 방법을 문제 해결 방식과 설계 과정의 특성에 비추어 소개하고, 글쓰기 과정의 일부인 '쓰기 전' 과정을 아홉 단계로 구분하고 그 단계들을 적용하는데 필요한 용어들을 정의한다. 그 단계들의 특성을 글의 주제를 정하는 관점에서 살피고, 그 단계들을 적용하는데 필요한 지식과 전략을 종합하고, 아홉 단계의 과정을 문제 해결 및 설계 과정과 비교하며, '쓰기 전' 단계들의 반복 학습 및 과정 중심의 글쓰기 교육에서 텍스트 수준 지식의 학습 방안에 대해서 토의한다. 아홉 단계에 의한 '쓰기 전' 과정이, 공대생들의 글쓰기 배우기와 공대 교수들의 글쓰기 가르치기, 둘 다에 도움이 될 것으로 기대한다.

Fabrication of Periodically Poled Lithium Niobate by Direct Laser-Writing and Its Poling Quality Evaluation

  • We fabricated a periodically poled lithium niobate (PPLN) by direct laser-writing of a quasi-phase-matching (QPM) structure in photolithographic process. Because we do not need to prepare a photomask by electron-beam writing, the "maskless" process shortens the fabrication time and significantly reduces the cost. We evaluated the poling quality of the direct laser-written PPLN by measuring the diffraction noise from the surface relief pattern of the fabricated QPM grating and comparing the results to those from a conventional PPLN made with a photomask. The quality of the PPLN fabricated by direct laser-writing was shown to be equivalent to that fabricated by the conventional method.

  • Line Shaped Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) with multilayered structure has been fabricated via direct-writing process. The cell is electrolyte of Ni-YSZ cermet anode, YSZ electrolyte and LSM cathode. They were processed into pastes for the direct writing process. Syringe filled with each electrode and electrolyte paste was loaded into the computer-controlled robe-dispensing machine and the paste was dispensed through cylindrical nozzle of 0.21 mm in diameter under the air pressure of 0.1 tow onto a moving plate with 1.22 mm/s. First of all, the anode paste was dispensed on the PSZ porous substrate, and then the electrolyte paste was dispensed. The anode/electrolyte and the PSZ substrate were co-fired at $1350^{\circ}C$ in air atmosphere for 3 h. The cathode layer was similarly dispensed and sintered at $1200^{\circ}C$ for 1 h. All the electrode/electrolyte lines were visually aligned during the direct writing process. The effective reaction area of fabricated SOFC was $0.03 cm^2$, and the thickness of anode, electrolyte and cathode was 20 $\mu$m, 15 $\mu$m, and 10 $\mu$m, respectively. The single line-shaped SOFC fabricated by direct-writing process exhibited OCV of 0.95 V and maximum power density of $0.35W/cm^2$ at $810^{\circ}C$.

쓰기를 활용한 수학과 교수-학습 방법에 관한 연구 (A Study on Teaching-Learning Methods of Mathematics with Writing)

  • 제7차 수학과 교육과정에서 강조하는 ‘수학적 힘’을 기르는 초등 수학 교육이 되기 위해서는 학생들에게 사고를 유발시키는 기회의 제공과 함께 사고 과정을 구조화시켜 줄 수 있는 교수-학습 방법이 필요하다. 수학 학습에서 쓰기의 활용은 학생 자신의 생각을 끌어내고 정리하는 사고 과정을 거치게 되므로, 효과적인 의사소통과 수학적 사고 과정의 촉진을 위한 유용한 방법이 된다고 생각한다. 이 연구에서는 6학년 수학 교과서 분석을 통해 수학 쓰기 유형 및 이를 적용한 수업 모형을 구안하고, 수학 쓰기가 학생들의 수학 학습에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 실험 대상을 실험반과 비교반으로 나누어 실험, 조사한 결과, 수학 쓰기 활동을 한 실험반 학생들의 수학 학습 능력과 학업 성취가 더 우수하게 나타났다. 이 연구는 위의 결과를 바탕으로 다양한 수학 쓰기 유형을 활용한 수학과 교수-학습에 대한 논의 및 제언을 담고 있다.
