  • We consider the problem of scheduling n jobs on m machines with the objective of minimizing makespan. Each job cannot be eligible to all the machines but to its consecutively eligible set of machines. For this problem, a 2-approximation algorithm, MFFH, is developed. In addition, an example is presented to show the tightness of the algorithm.

  • Until now, Industrial robotic sa(ety problems are not considered as a indust rial safety problems. In order to reduce industrial robotic safety problem, analyzing problem, risk control, and developing industrial robotic standard s are necessary. In this study, SAFEMIR(Safety Management for Industrial Robotic) is developed for preventing mul-function in industrial robotics. This system is consisted of Da ta Base Management System Module and Expert System Module which Is a part of Articial In telligence. Borland C++ and Foxpro 2.0 are used for implementing this system.

  • A space-time finite element method was presented for time dependent problem. The method which treat both the space and time unformly were proposed and numerically tested. The weighted residual process was used to formulate a finite element method in a space-time domain based upon continuous Galerkin method. This method leads to a conditional stabie high-order accurate solver.

  • In construction industries, the problem areas in safety are different to those of manufacturing. For instance, construction safety efforts must strongly emphasize fall prevention, whereas caught-in/ between incidents and electrical shocks are common in manufacturing. This paper reports an analysis of fall incidents that lead to fatalities in 1999 and in 2000. It also provides a safety plan for fall prevention by analyzing the origins of fall incidents by their trades and locations of concern. The findings of this study are expected to contribute toward reducing fall incidents in construction industry.

  • A theory of continuum damage mechanics based on the theory of materials of type N was developed and its nonlinear finite element approximation and numerical simulation was carried out. To solve the finite elastoplasticity problems, reasonable kinematics of large deformed solids was introduced and constitutive relations based on the theory of materials of type-N were derived. These highly nonlinear equations were reduced to the incremental weak formulation and approximated by the theory of nonlinear finite element method. Two types of problems, compression moulding problem and pure bending problem, were solved for aluminum 2024.

  • Numerical methods for solving the state feedback control problem of linear time invariant system are presented in this paper. The methods are based on Haar wavelet approximation. The properties of Haar wavelet are first presented. The operational matrix of integration and its inverse matrix are then utilized to reduce the state feedback control problem to the solution of algebraic matrix equations. The proposed methods reduce the computation time remarkably. Finally a numerical example is illustrated to demonstrate the validity and applicability of the proposed methods.

  • We propose methods for detecting influential observations that have a large influence on the likelihood ratio test statistic for the multivariate Behrens-Fisher problem. For this purpose we derive the influence curve and the derivative influence of the likelihood ratio test statistic. An illustrative example is given to show the effectiveness of the proposed methods on the identification of influential observations.

  • In this study, the problem of torsion of bars with open cross section surrounded by corrugated boundaries is analyzed. An approximate analytical solution is given using perturbation technique. First, the stress analysis for circular open cross-section for arbitrary opening angle is formulated and the problem is analytically solved. Second, the open cross-section with corrugated cross section is analyzed using perturbation method. First order contributions to the stresses and the torques have been added. The results have been exemplified and compared by considering special examples.

  • Bayesian approach using nonhomogeneous Poisson process is considered for modelling software reliability problem. The usefulness of the iterative sampling-based method increases greatly as the dimension of a problem increases. Maximum likelihood estimator and Gibbs estimator are derived. Model selection based on a predictive likelihood is studied. A numerical example is given.
