This paper presents a new method for redistributing effectively the first orders of each lens element to achromatize and athermalize an optical system, by introducing a novel method for adjusting the slope of an achromatic and athermal line. This line is specified by connecting the housing, equivalent single lens, and aberration-corrected point on a glass map composed of available plastic and glass materials for molding. Thus, if a specific lens is replaced with the material characterized by the chromatic and thermal powers of an aberration-corrected point, we obtain an achromatic and athermal system. First, we identify two materials that yield the minimum and maximum slopes of the line from a housing coordinate, which specifies the slope range of the line spanning the available materials on a glass map. Next, redistributing the optical first orders (optical powers and paraxial ray heights) of lens elements by moving the achromatic and athermal line into the available slope range of materials yields a good achromatic and athermal design. Applying this concept to design a mobile-phone camera lens, we efficiently obtain an achromatic and athermal system with cost-effective material selection, over the specified temperature and waveband ranges.
In this paper, we examine the traditional culture features of Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand and above this we try to find out the evidences that traditional culture features are shown up through the Constitutions of three countries. First, for Vietnam, unlike the other two countries, we could find out the traditional culture feature of strong resistance and struggle against the foreign powers like China throughout the history. Also, the loyalty for the community and country could be added as the traditional culture features as well. In contrast, for Cambodia and Thailand, we could see other aspects of traditional culture features, such as the promotion and protection of Buddhism, historically sustained Kingship and respect for the King, the opportunistic foreign policy for the foreign powers to national survive. Furthermore, we could find out the evidences that these traditional culture features are shown implicitly or explicitly in the Constitutions of the three countries in all. Although three countries have different historical backgrounds, experiences, cultures, and value systems, we could see that the Constitution of the three countries show that the traditional culture features are vigorously alive in it. Thus, we can say that this proves that the flow of traditional culture features are not easily changed or stopped by an era or ideology and still alive in the heart of the people.
This study delves into the geopolitical tensions surrounding Ukraine throughout modern European history, aiming to shed light on its significance in geopolitical discourse. Since the 19th century, European powers, particularly the Anglo-Saxons and Germans, have formulated distinct geopolitical strategies concerning the Eurasian continent, with Ukraine at its focal point. The Crimean War and the German-Soviet War serve as key events to analyze these powers' geopolitical ambitions and interests. The British Empire, driven by its doctrine of thwarting land powers with sea power, intervened in the Crimean War against Russia. Its objective was to disrupt Russian dominance over Ukraine, thereby hindering Russian expansion into the Black Sea and Central Europe. On the other hand, the Third Reich of Germany, fixated on creating a European sphere exclusive from Anglo-Saxon sea powers and the Russian land power, initiated the German-Soviet War. This move aimed to secure a vast territory, including Ukraine, to facilitate expansion into the Caucasus and establish a buffer zone against the Soviet Union. Three key insights emerge from this analysis. Firstly, the absence of a dominant power rooted in Ukraine since the fall of the Principality of Kiev made geopolitical clashes inevitable. Secondly, these clashes ultimately result in a hollow victory for all involved parties, signifying the high costs and minimal gains of such confrontations. Lastly, the root cause of these clashes lies in the discord between exclusive geopolitical visions that fail to accommodate sustainable coexistence among diverse geopolitical spheres. In essence, the study underscores Ukraine's pivotal role in shaping European geopolitics and highlights the recurring clashes driven by competing visions of dominance and control over its territory. From the Crimean War to the German-Soviet War, the struggle for influence over Ukraine reflects broader geopolitical dynamics and the pursuit of strategic advantage by major powers. Ultimately, the study emphasizes the enduring significance of Ukraine in European geopolitics and the complexities inherent in managing its geopolitical tensions.

The objective of this study is to develop a model which can design an optimal pipe network system of least cost while satisfying all the design constraints including hydraulic constraints using a genetic algorithm technique. Hydraulic constraints interfaced with the simulation program(KYPIPE) checked feasible solution region. Genetic algorithm(GA) technique is a relatively new optimization technique. The GA is known as a very powerful search and optimization technique especially when solving nonlinear programming problems. The model developed in this study selects optimal pipe diameters in the form of commercial discrete sizes using the pipe diameters and the pumping powers as decision variables. The model not only determines the optimal diameters and pumping powers of pipe network system but also satisfies the discharge and pressure requirements at demanding nodes. The model has been applied to an imaginary and an existing pipe network systems. One system is adopted from journal papers which has been used as an example network by many other researchers. Comparison of the results shows compatibility of the model developed in this study. The model is also applied to a system in Goyang city in order to check the model applicability to finding of optimal pumping powers. It has been found that the developed model can be successfully applied to optimal design of pipe network systems in a relatively simple manner.

Purpose: To assess the reliability for measuring the back vertex power of soft contact lenses by dry blotting and wet cell method using an auto-lensmeter. Methods: The soft contact lenses used for measurement were 5 types that were distributed in Korea, and 4 back vertex powers (-1.50D, -3.00D, -6.00D, -9.00D) were used. and repeatability and reproducibility were evaluated by measuring them with an auto-lensmeter by two examiners. Results: Measured powers by dry blotting method were ranged in mean differences from 0.03D to 0.18D for overall lenses, 0.10D to 0.18D for silicone hydrogel lenses, 0.03D to 0.08D for hydrogel lenses. The mean differences between two examiners were less than 0.10D, and the inter-examiner reproducibility was good for dry blotting method. The mean difference between powers determined by wet cell method were 0.09D to 0.69D, the mean differences between two examiners were 0.02D to 0.59D. The reliability of measurements and inter-examiner reproducibility were less than dry blotting method. Conclusions: The reliability of measurements for all materials was better in dry blotting than wet cell method, the re liability of measurements for silicone hydrogel lenses was low in both methods. In clinical practical which requires quick checking of back vertex power using an auto-lensmeter. dry blotting method is thought to be more efficient than wet cell one.
We are witnessing the growing maritime tension on the East Asian sea these days. Each naval powers in the region are competing each other to acquire more advanced naval capabilities. Based upon the rapid economic development, China is actively beefing up its naval capabilities and expand its boundary of naval activities all over the East Asian region. Chinese Navy already unveiled its expansive naval strategy replacing the traditional concept of 'Near-Sea Defense' with the new concept of 'Far-Sea Defense' strategy. In response to potential rival's naval build up, the U.S. is redeploying its naval forces focusing on the Asia-Pacific region. The U.S. enhances its joint naval exercises with the countries in the region, such as Japan, India, Australia and so on. In addition, Washington is devising new naval strategy under the concept of 'Air-Sea Battle' to deter Peking's so-called 'Anti-Access/ Area Denial(A2AD)' strategy. As a close ally of the U.S., Japan also disclosed its clear intention to strengthen the Maritime Self Defense Force(MSDF)'s capabilities by introducing the new concept of 'Dynamic Defense Force' in 2011. Under the new concept, JMSDF is pursuing the additional acquisition of submarines, quasi-aircraft carriers, Aegis-equipped destroyers, etc. Under the new president's strong leadership, Russia is also invigorating the naval build-up. Especially, Russia is fortifying the Pacific Fleet's naval assets by deploying new-type of naval ships such as the Mistral which was imported from France. In the midst of competitive naval build-up among the major naval powers in the region, we are observing the growing maritime conflicts on the East China Sea as well as South China Sea. Those naval conflicts can pose severe threats to our national interests. Maritime conflicts on the East or South China Sea can imperil our sea lanes which will be indispensible for national economic development. Neighboring countries' maritime conflicts also will cast an uncertainty on the path to mobilize international cooperation to resolve the North Korean issues. We should contribute to ease the maritime tension in the region by various ways. First, we should actively galvanize the bilateral maritime dialogue among the major naval powers in the region. Second, we also should take the lead to form a multilateral maritime cooperation mechanism in the region. Above all, we should set the aim to be a peaceful maritime power who can contribute to a building of stable maritime order in the region with a considerable naval power.

Induction motors play a vital role in aeronautical and automotive industries so that many researchers have studied on developing a fault detection and classification system of an induction motor to minimize economical damage caused by its fault. With this reason, this paper extracts robust feature vectors from the normal/abnormal vibration signals of the induction motor in noise circumstance: partial autocorrelation (PARCOR) coefficient, log spectrum powers (LSP), cepstrum coefficients mean (CCM), and mel-frequency cepstrum coefficient (MFCC). Then, we classified different types of faults of the induction motor by using the extracted feature vectors as inputs of a neural network. To find optimal feature vectors, this paper evaluated classification performance with 2 to 20 different feature vectors. Experimental results showed that five to six features were good enough to give almost 100% classification accuracy except features by CCM. Furthermore, we considered that vibration signals could include noise components caused by surroundings. Thus, we added white Gaussian noise to original vibration signals, and then evaluated classification performance. The evaluation results yielded that LSP was the most robust in noise circumstance, then PARCOR and MFCC followed by LSP, respectively.
We present the morphological evolution at different source powers in the ion-enhanced etching of GaAs(100) in $BCl_3-Cl_2$ plasma. With little ion bombardment at floating potential, the surface develops <110> ridges and {111} facets, as it does in purely chemical etching. Higher source power (900 W) produces well developed crystallographic surfaces while lower source power (100 W) produces poorly developed crystallographic surfaces. This is attributed to the availability of excited reactive species (chlorine atoms) depending on source powers. With more concentration of the reactive species at higher source powers, the surface of GaAs(100) would be a surface that is expected from thermodynamics while the surface morphology would be determined by sputtering in the lack of reactive species. Statistical analysis of the surfaces, based on scaling theory, revealed two spatial exponents: one (smaller than one) is formed by atomic scale mechanisms, the other (larger than one) is formed by larger scale mechanisms which is believed to develop facets. When samples are biased, the surfaces experienced bombardment resulting in suppression of ridge formation at high source power and islands formation at low source power.

The purpose of this study is to compare of learning effects between the inquiry training model and traditional lecture method in the unit of food and nutrition of home economics in the middle school and propose a teaching-learning method of home economics in the middle school. For this study I sampled one hundred students both male and female who were in the first grade students of middle school in Ansan city. The students were divided into two groups each of which was composed of one male class and one female class. One was called the inquiry training model group, which was taught by the inquiry training model, the other the traditional lecture method group, which was taught by traditional lecture method .They learned about food and nutrition unit during the same time. To evaluate the effectiveness of learning, learning achievement degree, instruction interest degree, and the powers of exploration process, a creativity lest by using a Questionnaire was gIven. The resuits of this study are as follows: 1. In the traditional lecture method group between the inquiry training model one, the difference of learning achievement degree was not significant. The score of learning achieve ment degree in the inquiry training group, the female class got higher scores than .the maleone, but the difference was not significant. 2. In the test of instruction interest degree, the traditional lecture method group got higher scores than the inquiry training model one. (p<.001.). In the inquiry training group the male class got higher scores than the f ema Ie one. (p < .001 ) 3. In the test of powers of exploration process, the traditional lecture method group got higher scores than the inquiry training model one.( p< .00 1). In the inquiry training group, the male class got higher scores than the female one, but the difference was not significant. 4. In the test of creativity, the traditional lecture method group got higher scores than the inquiry training one. (p < .00 1). In the inquiry training group, the female class got higher scores than the male one, but the difference was not significant Therefore, the inquiry training model is the more effective instruction model for both male and female students, rather than the traditional lecture method for instruction interest de¬gree, powers of exploration process, creativity and extends instruction interest degree for the male studentsale students.
We report on the development of a passively mode-locked near-infrared femtosecond laser with Cr:YAG crystal that operates near room temperature. The laser wavelength could easily be tuned by using only the internal prism pair over 110 nm from 1400 nm to 1510 nm in cw and over about 30 nm in mode-locked operation, respectively Maximum cw output powers of 810 mW were obtained with $1.5 \%$ output coupler for absorbed pump powers of 7.6 W. For compensation of the internal group velocity dispersion, an IR graded prism pair was used. The Cr:YAG laser delivered nearly Fourier-transform limited pulses with a pulse duration as short as 64 fs at 100 MHz repetition rate. In the mode-locked regime, the laser was operating at 1510 nm with a spectral bandwidth of 44 nm. In order to avoid unstable mode-locking and power instabilities, self-built tubes were inserted into the beam path in the resonator and purged with N2 gas. Finally, output powers of the Cr:YAG laser were optimized to 250 mW fer long time stable mode-locked operation.
