  • Fire hazard and risk analysis at Nuclear Power Plants is implemented on the basis of the normal operational configuration. This steady configuration, however, can be changed due to the temporary displacement of equipment, electric cable and irregular movement of workers through the fire compartments when the on-line maintenance is processed during the power operation mode or the scheduled outage mode for the refueling. With the consequence of this configuration change, the fire analysis condition and the evaluation result will be different from those that were analyzed based on the steady configuration. In this context, at this paper, the general items for the reassessment are categorized when the configuration has changed. The contemporary zone models for the detail fire analysis are also illustrated for their application for each classified condition.

  • The Configuration Management(CM) of Nuclear Power Plant(NPP) is an activity that maintains consistency among the design requirement, facility configuration information and physical configuration. It is a systematic approach to performing various engineering tasks such as change management by identifying, documenting the characteristics of plant Structures, Systems and Component(SSC). The first activity that should be performed the configuration baseline setting at the start of project. The configuration baseline of the NPP construction phase is the status of the SSC of the plant at a specified process and time, and the actual configuration changes depending on the condition of plant. In this paper, I have studied the current status of configuration baseline used in the software industry and general plant industry, method of establishment for the configuration baseline which was first applied to the construction of NPP.

  • In [30] the author finds a graded minimal free resolution of the 2-nd order symbolic power of a star configuration in ℙn of any codimension r. In this paper, we find that of any m-th order symbolic power of a star configuration in ℙn of codimension 2, which generalizes the result of Galetto, Geramita, Shin, and Van Tuyl in [15, Theorem 5.3]. Furthermore, we extend it to the m-th order symbolic power of a star configuration in ℙn of any codimension r for m = 3, 4, which also generalizes the result of Biermann et al. in [1, Corollaries 4.6 and 5.7]. We also suggest how to find a graded minimal free resolution of the m-th order symbolic power of a star configuration in ℙn of any codimension r for m ≥ 5.

  • The auxiliary transformers or start-up/stand-by transformer(s) are installed against the start-up and shut-down of generator and emergency status in fossil power plant. The on-site power supply configuration using these transformers must be determined, considering configuration requirements, site characteristics, reliability and availability severely because it is remarkably important for safety and ecfonomy of plant. The auxiliary or start-up/stand-by power supply configuration has been determined considering only safety requirements and construction cost until now in Korea. This paper presents general theorems for the reliability estimation and proposes 2-unit based 4 alternatives for the start-up power supply stystem of 500㎿ standardized fossil power plant. The reliability and unavailability of equipment, system and configuration are determined using minimal cut-set methodology. The optimized plan of 4 alternatives is determined based on this ultimate reliability and unavailability.

  • Induction cooking application with multiple loads need high power inverters and appropriate control techniques. This paper proposes an inverter configuration with buck-boost converter for multiple load induction cooking application with independent control of each load. It uses one half-bridge for each load. For a given dc supply of $V_{DC}$, one more $V_{DC}$ is derived using buck-boost converter giving $2V_{DC}$ as the input to each half-bridge inverter. Series resonant loads are connected between the centre point of $2V_{DC}$ and each half-bridge. The output voltage across each load is like that of a full-bridge inverter. In the proposed configuration, half of the output power is supplied to each load directly from the source and remaining half of the output power is supplied to each load through buck-boost converter. With buck-boost converter, each half-bridge inverter output power is increased to a full-bridge inverter output power level. Each half-bridge is operated with constant and same switching frequency with asymmetrical duty cycle (ADC) control technique. By ADC, output power of each load is independently controlled. This configuration also offers reduced component count. The proposed inverter configuration is simulated and experimentally verified with two loads. Simulation and experimental results are in good agreement. This configuration can be extended to multiple loads.

  • In [9], Geramita, Harbourne, and Migliore find a graded minimal free resolution of the 2nd order symbolic power of the ideal of a linear star configuration in ${\mathbb{P}}^n$ n of any codimension r. In [8], Geramita, Galetto, Shin, and Van Tuyl extend the result on a general star configuration in ${\mathbb{P}}^n$ but for codimension 2. In this paper, we find a graded minimal free resolution of the 2nd order symbolic power of the ideal of a general star configuration in ${\mathbb{P}}^n$ of any codimension r using a matroid configuration in [10]. This generalizes both the result on a linear star configuration in ${\mathbb{P}}^n$ of codimension r in [9] and the result on a general star configuration in ${\mathbb{P}}^n$ of codimension 2 in [8].

  • In this paper input Series-Output Parallel connected converter configuration for high voltage power conversion applications is proposed and a control method to solve the problems of Input Series-Output Paralles connected converter configuration is introduced. In this configuration snubber circuit or voltage balancing controller that is necessary for the series connection of switching devices is not needed. The effectiveness of this proposed configuration is verified by simulation.

I study various reliability estimating methods for the prediction of availability, and estimate the unavailability for the start-up power supply system of two 1,000㎿ unclear power plants. I also detemine the reliability and unavailability and unavailavility of equipment, system and configuration using FTA method.

  • There have been several nuclear accidents at home and abroad so far, and there have been major and small damages. Overseas, in order to reduce such accidents, the safety and reliability of nuclear power plant operations have been improved by introducing a technology called Configuration Management. Through basic information on Configuration Management and successful cases of introducing Configuration Management from overseas nuclear power plants, this paper checks the technical parts applicable to Korea and examines whether they can be newly applied by supplementing them for domestic nuclear power plants.
