Reverse Parking Guidance System with the Path Prediction (경로 예측 방식의 후진 주차 가이드 시스템 개발)

  • Reverse parking guidance system help driver's safe reverse parking with display of the expected reverse path of the car on portable navigation device or rear-view camera display. In this paper, we suggest a reverse path prediction method of vehicle which reflect the differences in steering angle according to various types of vehicles and calibrate easily the distance error according to the property and the installation position of rear-view camera and we developed reverse parking guidance system with the our reverse path prediction method. This system can be applied to various types of vehicles, a variety of characteristics and installation of rear-view camera and navigation support systems, or portable devices are compatible and easily detachable, can be configured easily.

  • A multi-channel digital GPS receiver has been developed including a RF-to-IF engine (engine 1), a digital signal processing engine (engine 2) with a microprocessor interfacing, and a navigation software. A high speed SiGe heterojunction bipolar transistor (HBT) as a active device has been mounted on chip-on-board (COB) type hybrid ICs such as LNA, mixer, and VCO in RF front-end of the engine 1 board. A 6-channel digital correlator together with a real-time clock and a microprocessor interface has been realized using an Altera Flex 10K FPGA as well as ASIC technology. Navigation software controlling the correlator for GPS signal tracking, retrieval and storing a message retrieval, and position calculation has been implemented. The GPS receiver was tested using a single channel STR2770 simulator. Successful navigation message retrieval and position determination was confirmed.

  • In progress to ubiquitous intelligent society, there are emerging technologies such smart wear related researches as wearable computer, smart fiber and smart fashion. In this paper, wearable 3D information acquisition device which improved both advanced in convenience and portable is implemented. 3D information input system is basically grouped of some modules; Gyro sensor for acquisition of 3D space coordinate, RF transmitter/receiver, and signal processing module etc. To testify the validity of designed system, some experiments are performed using lest board with respect to the communication distance, easiness of wearable and operation sensibility.

  • The u-health service is using portable device such as smart device and it consists of small computing device. The u-health service carry out same performance with desktop computer. We designed message structure based on Bluetooth HDP. This message structure is used to transmit patient's biometric data on the smart device of medical team, patient and family over the mobile network environment. ISO/IEEE 11073 PHD standard was defined based on the method of communication between the agent and the manager. And We are confirmed the reliable transmission of biometric data at the smart device by implementing the android OS based patient information monitoring application to check the status of patient for medical team, patient and family.

  • In this paper, we suggest Location Recognition System using Sensor Network; it distinguishes locations. Furthermore, this paper proposes Intelligent Navigation System which presents the proper route for the user. INS evaluates the user's preference, tendency and environmental state using Sensor Network Module and current driving information. This system also uses Soft-computing method to learn and infer the person’s preference and tendency. This paper defines Intelligent Assistance Module (IAM) which is a connector in between a user and a robot; it is portable. All in all, we created a basic intelligent robot, Location Recognition System, and Environment Sensor Modules; we verified the proposed algorithm through computer simulations.

The Research for Remote-indicating Magnetic Compass(I) (원격지시식 자기 compass 에 관한 연구(I))

  • Self-contained portable remote-indicating magnetic compass was designed and tested. Its sensing part consists of main scale disk of rotary encoder with photo-etched 180, oopaque slits and three pairs of light sources and detectors seperated by a transparent index scale, so that any angular deflection of main scale disk against the bowl may be detected optically. The outputs from the sensing part are transformed into digital ship's course indication by electronics unit which consists of operational amplifier, phase discriminator, up-down counter and counting starter circuit. The results from testign the above compass with turntable at variable rate of turn are as following : 1) The main scale disk deflection against the bowl can be detected without any disturbing influence to the freedom of its north-seeking function. 2) The digital indication resolution is found to be $\circ \pm$1 degree. 3) Misrepresenting indication can be avoided by ensuring dimension uniformity and arrangement accuracy of slits on main and index scale disks and by centering pivot in the encoder disk. 4) Indication resolution should be improved by modifying the signal processing and by doubling the number of slits on compass card. 5) Further study should be made on developing non-conductive compass liquid, analogue repeater driving system and more compact processing element.

  • This paper studied the feasibility for utilization of the automatic fishing information recording system, which stores and manages navigational information and fish catch results of a fishing vessel in a portable storing device, in order to help promote the systematic management of fishing information by offshore and coastal fishing vessels. Position accuracy was within 10 meters on the position accuracy experiment using GPS module. Characteristics of navigation according to the navigation, anchoring and fishing operation showed the difference of navigation track information for GPS, and fishing possibility of fishing boat could be estimated through the analysis as the utilization result of system for the large pair trawl and large purse seiners. In particular, it is impossible to provide false positional information by arbitrarily operating the system, and it may be possible to present the factual results of fish catch by date, fishing ground, and fish species by comparing the fishing information with fish catch. Such contents are considered to be useful as basic data for the management of fisheries resources.

  • According to expansion of wireless communication system and mobile device, interest has been growing in personal navigation system integrated with wireless system. In portable consumer electronics, such as cellular phones, GPS and PDA, one of major design factors is the power consumption. Solutions of reducing the power dissipation are low voltage, low system clock power management and so on. This paper develops a GPS receiver based on the advanced power management algorithm that achieves very low average power consumption.   • This paper proposes an improved scheme of pedestrian position information system using neural network theory in a GPS-disabled area. Through a learning/obtaining gait pattern and step distance about walk, run, duck walk, crab walk and crawl, the position estimation error could be minimized by rejecting the inertial navigation drift. A portable hardware module was implemented to evaluate the performance of the proposed system. The performance and effectiveness of the suggested algorithm was verified by experiments indoors.
