In natural dyeing, a number of supplementary methods have been practiced since deep shades of the dyed fabrics are not developed satisfactorily. The methods include using the mordants effectively or subjecting the fabrics to reiterated dyeing processes. In this study, we obtained deep shades in the dyeing of fabrics using Rhusjara ica as the dyestuff and applied chitosan to the fabric specimens in order to diversify the colors. Silk fibers and PET(polyethylene terephthalate) fibers were pretreated using chitosan, and subsequently dyed using different types of mordants. As the mordanting agents, Al, Sn, and Fe were employed. Various shades have been resulted in since the interactions of the mordants are different toward the silk fibers and PET fibers. In this study, we investigated the effect of the chitosan treatment along with the change of the mordanting agents on the color change for the silk and PET fibers.

ITO/Ag/ITO conductive films on PET (polyethylene terephthalate) was etched by a Q-switched diode-pumped neodymiun-doped yttrium vanadate (Nd:YVO4, ${\lambda}=1064nm$) laser. During the laser direct etching, the laser beam was incident on the two different directions of PET and the etching patterns were investigated and analyzed. At a lower repetition rate of laser pulse, the larger laser etched patterns were obtained by laser beam incident on reverse side of PET substrate. On the contrary, at a higher repetition rate, it was possible to find the larger etched patterns in case of the laser beam incidence on forward side of PET substrate. For the laser beam incidence on reverse side, the laser beam is expected to be transferred and scattered through the PET substrate and the laser beam energy is thought to be dependent on the etch laser pulse beam energy.
Stick type ignition coil is new development that connect directly with ECU(Electronic control unit), without needing a spark plug cable and distributor. Glass-fiber reinforced ploymeric composites provide the desirable properties of high stiffness and strength as well as low specific weight. Stick type ignition coil jacket is using PBT CF30 resin. PBT CF30 resin is a kind of electric insulation which is a superior engineering plastic that is used to prevent the leakage of the electrical current. If PET receive a mistake of design or excessive force when HV terminal oppress on jacket, it can happen to crack. Local stress concentrations occurring on the contact surface, the contact phenomenon becomes a direct cause to the wear and failure of mechanical structures. When it is cracked, it can allow a leakage of the electrical current. So, in this study, we analyze the contact stress to PBT jacket using ANSYS program, when HV terminal oppress on jacket. We suppose PBT to be Jacket and we analyzed contact stress that happens in PET like PBT analysis method. We compared the use of PBT and PET.
The objective of this study was to determine the extent to which acetaldehyde (AA) and formaldehyde (FA) migrated from polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles into mineral water during storage at 25 and 35$^{\circ}C$ for 240 days. Generally, AA and FA were observed to migrate more at 35$^{\circ}C$ than at 25$^{\circ}C$. The amount of FA in the samples irradiated under UV lamps was higher than in those stored in the dark over the storage period and vice versa for AA. Using a triangular test, the sensory panels distinguished a difference between one sample and the other two mineral water samples that had been exposed to UV lamps after 60 days of storage at 35$^{\circ}C$ (p<0.05). At this time, FA and AA concentrations were measured at 267.4 and 515.3 g/L, respectively. After 120 days, an independent mineral water sample from the other two samples in all treatments could be distinguished by the panel members at a significance level of p<0.001.

This study was performed to prove the possibility of utilizing short plastic fibers made for recycled polyethylene terephthalate (RPET) as a structural material. In order to verify the capacity of RPET fiber, it was compared with polypropylene (PP) fiber, most widely used short synthetic fiber, for fiber volume fraction of 0%, 0.5%, 0.75%, and 1.0%. To measure material properties such as compressive strength, split tensile strength, appropriate tests were performed. Also, to measure the strength and ductility capacities of reinforced concrete (RC) member casted with RPET fiber added concrete, flexural test was performed on RC beams. The results showed that compressive strength decreased, as fiber volume fraction increased. These trends are similarly observed in the tests of PP fiber added concrete specimens. Split cylinder tensile strength of RPET fiber reinforced concrete increased slightly as fiber volume fraction increased. For structural member performance, ultimate strength, relative ductility and energy absorption of RPET added RC beam are significantly larger than OPC specimen. Also, the results showed that ultimate flexural strength and ductility both increased, as fiber volume fraction increased. These trends are similarly observed in the tests of PP fiber added concrete specimens. The study results indicate that RPET fiber can be used as an effective additional reinforcing material in concrete members.
Currently, since carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRPs) are lightweight and have excellent physical properties, their demand has increased dramatically. Many works have studied the CFRPs based on recycled thermoplastics. In this study, the applicability of recycled composite was evaluated using recycled polyethylene terephthalate (PET). PET was collected from waste materials used in beverage bottles and processed to produce PET films. Optimal thermoforming temperature and time were analyzed by comparing the mechanical properties with forming temperature and time difference for producing PET films. CF mat and PET film were used to determine the suitable parameters for the optimum thermoforming of CF/PET composites. The mechanical properties of each thermoforming condition were verified by bending test. The degree of impregnation of the PET film into the CF mat was evaluated by cross-sectional photographs, whereas the interfacial properties were evaluated by interlaminar shear strength (ILSS). Ultimately, it was confirmed that the thermoforming condition for forming the CF/recycled PET composites yielding the optimal mechanical and interfacial properties was at $270^{\circ}C$ for 5 minutes.
Kochujang(Korean red pepper paste) of 600 g was fermented in the different types of vessels (glass, polypropylene(PP), polyethylene terephthalate(PET), stainless steel and Korean porcelain called onggi) with 627 mL of volume during 4 months. The quality changes were monitored for physical, chemical and microbiological attributes. Onggi which had high porosity in the micro-structure provided kochujang with higher microbial counts of aerobic bacteria, lactic acid bacteria and yeasts than those of the other containers. Compared to kochujang fermented in the other containers, kochujang in Onggi showed higher protease activity, amino type nitrogen, and free amino acid content. The kochujang in Onggi also attained higher acidity, lower pH and higher reducing sugar concentration than those in the other containers. All changes were completed 2 or 3 months. Onggi showed water loss and salt increase of the kochujang comparable to those in the other vessels, which was from gradual clogging of the micropores during storage. All physical, chemical and microbiological changes made the kochujang in Onggi attain the sensory quality significantly better than those fermented in the other vessels.

The device for intervertebral assisted motion (DIAM) is a dynamic implant that consists of a silicone bumper enveloped by a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) fiber sack. Silicone and PET were used because of their biological inertness, but repetitive motion of the spine can cause wear on the implant nonetheless. The purpose of this study is to report a case of foreign body reaction (FBR) against a DIAM. A 72-year-old female patient presented with lower back pain and both legs radiating pain. She had undergone DIAM implantation at L4-5 for spinal stenosis 5 years previously. The intervertebral disc space of L4-5, where the DIAM was inserted, had collapsed and degenerative scoliosis had developed due to left-side collapse. MRI showed L3-4 thecal sac compression and left L4-5 foraminal stenosis. The patient underwent removal of the DIAM and instrumented fusion from L3 to L5. During surgery, fluid and granulation tissue were evident around the DIAM. Histopathology showed scattered wear debris from the DIAM causing chronic inflammation due to the resulting FBR. A FBR due to wear debris of a DIAM can induce a hypersensitivity reaction and bone resorption around the implant, causing it to loosen.

The multivariate statistical analysis methods, using both multiple linear regression(MLR) and partial least square(PLS), have been applied to predict the reactor properties and the product quality of a direct esterification reactor for polyethylene terephthalate(PET) synthesis. On the basis of the set of data including the flow rate of water vapor, the flow rate of EG vapor, the concentration of acid end groups of a product and other operating conditions such as temperature, pressure, reaction times and feed monomer mole ratio, two multi-variable analysis methods have been applied. Their regression and prediction abilities also have been compared. The prediction results are critically compared with the actual plant data and the other mathematical model based results in reliability. This paper shows that PLS method approach can be used for the reasonably accurate prediction of a product quality of a direct esterification reactor in PET synthesis process.

ITO (indium tin oxide) thin films on PET (polyethylene terephthalate) substrate have been deposited by a dc reactive magnetron sputtering without heat treatments such as substrate heater and post heat treatment. Each sputtering parameter during the sputtering deposition is an important factor for the high quality of ITO thin films deposited on polymeric substrate. Particularly, the material, electrical and optical properties of as-deposited ITO oxide films are dominated by the ratio of oxygen partial pressure. As the experimental results, the excellent ITO films are prepared on PET substrate at the operating conditions as follows: operating pressure of 5 mTorr,target-substrate distance of 45 mm, dc power of 20-30 W, and oxygen gas ratio of 10 %. The optical transmittance is above 80 % at 550 nm, and the sheet resistance and resistivity of films are $24\;{\Omega}$/square and $1.5{\times}10^{-3}\;cm$, respectively.
