  • This paper is concerned with the application of perturbation method to the dynamic analysis of space structure floating in space. In dealing with the dynamics of space structure, the use of Lagrange's equations of motion in terms of quasi-coordinates were suggested to derive hybrid equations of motion for rigid-body translations and elastic vibrations. The perturbation method is then applied to the hybrid equations of motion along with discretization by means of admissible functions. This process is very tiresome. Recently, a new approach that applies the perturbation method to the Lagrange's equations directly was proposed and applied to the two-dimensional floating structure. In this paper, we propose the application of the perturbation method to the Lagrange's equations of motion in terms of quasi-coordinates. Theoretical derivations show the efficacy of the proposed method.

  • Integro-differential equations arise in modeling various physical and engineering problems. Several numerical and analytical methods have been developed to solving such equations. We introduce the NHPM for solving nonlinear integro-differential equations. Several examples for solving integro-differential equations are presented to illustrate the efficiency of the proposed NHPM.

  • This paper is concerned with the application of perturbation method to the dynamic analysis of free-free beam. In general, the rigid-body motions and elastic vibrations are analyzed separately. However, the rigid-body motions cause vibrations and elastic vibrations also affect rigid-body motions in turn, which indicates that the rigid-body motions and elastic vibrations are coupled in nature. The resulting equations of motion are hybrid and nonlinear. We can discretize the equations of motion by means of admissible functions but still we have to cope with nonlinear equations. In this paper, we propose the use of perturbation method to the coupled equations of motion. The resulting equations consist of zero-order equations of motion which depict the rigid-body motions and first-order equations of motion which depict the perturbed rigid-body motions and elastic vibrations. Numerical results show the efficacy of the proposed method.

  • In this paper, we introduce and studied a system of nonlinear projection equations with perturbation in Hilbert spaces. By using the fixed point theorem, we prove an existence of solution for this system of nonlinear projection equations. We construct an algorithm for approximating the solution of the system of nonlinear projection equations with perturbation and show that the iterative sequence generated by the algorithm converges to the solution of the system of nonlinear projection equations with perturbation under some suitable conditions.

  • In this study, the nonlinear vibrations of stepped beams having different boundary conditions were investigated. The equations of motions were obtained using Hamilton's principle and made non dimensional. The stretching effect induced non-linear terms to the equations. Forcing and damping terms were also included in the equations. The dimensionless equations were solved for six different set of boundary conditions. A perturbation method was applied to the equations of motions. The first terms of the perturbation series lead to the linear problem. Natural frequencies for the linear problem were calculated exactly for different boundary conditions. Second order non-linear terms of the perturbation series behave as corrections to the linear problem. Amplitude and phase modulation equations were obtained. Non-linear free and forced vibrations were investigated in detail. The effects of the position and magnitude of the step, as well as effects of different boundary conditions on the vibrations, were determined.

In the previous paper, we proposed the use of perturbation method to the coupled equations of motion and derived zero-order and first-order equations of motion. The derivation process was lengthy and tedious. Hence, in this paper, we propose a new approach to the same problem by applying the perturbation method to the Lagrange's equations, thus providing a systematic approach to the addressed problem. Theoretical derivations show the efficacy of the proposed method.

  • The purpose of this paper is to derive a perturbation theory of evolution systems of the hyperbolic second order hyperbolic equations. We give an example of a partial functional equation as an application of the preceding result in case of the mixed problems for hyperbolic equations of second order with unbounded principal operators.

  • In this paper, we apply Homotopy perturbation transform method (HPTM) for solving singular fourth order parabolic partial differential equations with variable coefficients. This method is the combination of the Laplace transform method and Homotopy perturbation method. The nonlinear terms can be easily handled by the use of He's polynomials. The aim of using the Laplace transform is to overcome the deficiency that is mainly caused by unsatisfied conditions in other semi-analytical methods such as Homotopy perturbation method (HPM), Variational iteration method (VIM) and Adomain Decomposition method (ADM). The proposed scheme finds the solutions without any discretization or restrictive assumptions and avoids the round-off errors. The comparison shows a precise agreement between the results and introduces this method as an applicable one which it needs fewer computations and is much easier and more convenient than others, so it can be widely used in engineering too.
