This was designed to identify the relationship of perceived stress, ways of coping, and stress response in student nurses. The subjects of this study were 320 student nurses from two universities and three junior colleges located in Seoul. The data were collected from November 28 to December 10, 1997 by a questionnaire survey method. The instruments for this study were the perceived stress scale developed by Levenstein(1993), ways of coping scale developed by lazarus & Folkman (1984), and the stress response scale developed by Choi(1991). The data were analyzed by SAS program, using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficient, and ANOVA. The results are summarized as follows : 1. The mean score for the level of perceived stress was 2.55. 2. The mean score for the level of problem oriented coping was 1.61 and the mean score for the level of emotional oriented coping was 1.37. 3. The mean score for the level of stress response was 3.74. Stress was classified into nine factors and the order of scoring for the most frequent was ; assignments(3.98), as a nurse(3.97), interpersonal relationship(3.88). 4. The relationship between perceived stress and stress response revealed a positive significant correlation(r=0.23, p=0.0001) 5. The relationship between emotional oriented coping and stress response revealed a positive significant correlation(r=0.22, p=0.0001). 6. The relationship between perceived stress and emotional oriented coping revealed a positive significant correlation(r=0.13, p=0.020). In conclusion, this study revealed that the level of perceived stress and ways of coping were important factors influencing the stress response of student nurses. Therefore, in consideration of perceived stress, ways of coping should be included in the development of a stress management program for student nurses. Further research with an expanded area and subjects is recommended.
The purpose of this study is to empirically examine the customers' perceived service quality and response in the field of hotel industry. The subjects of survey for this empirical analyses are limited to the customers of deluxe hotels in Korea; data are collected from the 16 deluxe hotels amongst 27 of its kind in the Seoul, Pusan, Cheju and Kyongju area. SAS package is used for Simple Regression, Multiple Regression and the results are as follows: First, the perceived service quality shows significantly positive effect upon the customers' satisfaction; Second, the customers' perceived service quality shows significantly positive with respect to the customers' response; Third, the customers' satisfaction shows significantly positive regarding the customers' response, and the customers' satisfaction have greater influence upon the customers' response than the customers' perceived service quality; On the basis of the above empirical analyses, I propose the management implication as follows: First, the hotel management staffs should have a close relation with their customers through the customers' positive, and eventually be concemed about improving service quality and customers' satisfaction to maximize the enterprise's performance; Second, the hotel management staffs, to induce and build up the positive customers' response, should have interest in serving high-quality products and service and enforcing the proper price policy.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to examine the effects of a yoga program on perceived stress, stress response and heart rate variability in professionals. Methods: The research design was a quasi-experimental intervention study. The participants were 47 adults with professional jobs consisting of an experimental group with 23 adults and a control group with 24 adults. The duration of the yoga program was eight weeks from July 4 to August 30, 2012. Results: There were significant decreases in the stress response score after the yoga program. No significant changes in perceived stress and heart rate variability were observed between the experimental group and control group. However, there were significant decreases in perceived stress, stress response scale, and heart rate variability for some participants whose stress levels were high. Conclusion: An eight-week-long yoga program could be considered as an intervention to decrease the stress response of professionals even though it might not reduce their perceived stress and heart rate variability. To further analyze the effects of a yoga program in professionals, changes in intervention strength (such as longer periods and frequency) and the development of physiological measures, which would show the co-relationship between perceived stress and physiological response, are necessary in future studies.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between perceived stress. self respect & stress response of high school students to provide the basic data for nursing intervention programs in order to manage stress in students. The subject of this study was 279 students (male; 179. female; 100) in high school. Seoul. Korea. during the period from July. 2000. The instruments for this study was a stress management scale developed by Park Young Ae(l996), a self respect scale by Coopersmith (1967) and a physical. emotional response scale to stress by Ro, Jae Hak(1991). The data was analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test. Pearson correlation coefficient. The results of analysis were as follows: 1) Total perceived stress between males & females didn't show a significant difference but subgroups of stress, 'parent' & 'friend' showed significant differences. Male students were experienced in 'parent' stress than females and female students were more experienced in 'friend' stress than males. 2) A significant negative correlation was revealed between perceived stress & self respect. 3) A significant positive correlation was revealed between self respect & stress response. The result of this study lead us to the suggestion that for high school students. the development of stress management methods for improving self respect should be expanded.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate how college students' perceived stress, cognitive stress, and somatization affect their heart rate variability (HRV). Methods: This study is a cross-sectional survey research on 191 university students, registered at the G University. The perceived stress scale (PSS) and cognitive stress response scale, were used to assess level of stress. The somatization symptom scale of the Symptom Check List 90 (SCL-90), was used to assess level of somatization caused by stress. To assess heart rate variability (HRV), we conducted a five-minute test using a pulse wave analyzer, to analyze short-term HRV. Results: The SCL-90 somatization score had relatively high positive correlation (p< .001) with cognitive stress, but low positive correlation (p< .001) with perceived stress. Cognitive stress response had low negative correlation (p< .001) with 1nSDNN and 1nRMSSD among HRV parameters. Perceived stress was not correlated with HRV. Multiple regression analysis showed that variables of perceived stress, cognitive stress, and somatization symptoms, could not explain HRV. By contrast, one of the HRV indicators, 1nSDNN, was affected by age, gender, and aggressive-hostile thought, the latter being a subscale of the cognitive stress response scale. Conclusion: This study suggests that stress evaluation for people in early adulthood will be more effective, if the evaluation examines cognitive stress and heart rate variability.
Purpose: This study was aimed to evaluate the effect of progressive muscle relaxation training using biofeedback on perceived stress, stress response, immune response and climacteric symptoms, Method: This was a crossover, pre-post test design, The study subjects are 36 middle-aged women who were selected at 2 public health centers, The independent variable was Biofeedback training for 4 weeks, twice a week and home training for 4 weeks, Dependent variables were perceived stress, stress response, immune response, and climacteric symptoms measured with Hildtch's scale (1996), Result: Progressive muscle relaxation training using biofeedback was not effective in reducing perceived stress, but it was shown to be effective in reducing physiological stress responses such as pulse rate and EMG, Though blood pressure and skin conductance were repeatedly down, and skin temperature slowly increased, there were no statistically significant differences. Progressive muscle relaxation training using biofeedback was not effective in reducing serum cortisol, enhancing immune responses, or decreasing climacteric symptoms. Conclusion: The findings point to a pressing need for further, well-controlled and designed research with consideration in selection of subjects and instruments, frequency of measurements, the sampling method, and intervention modalities.

Recently, the tourism industry faced a crisis due to COVID-19. Smart tourism that combines information and communication technology (ICT) is rapidly growing to overcome the crisis in the tourism industry. In order to revitalize the tourism industry after COVID-19, such as non-face-to-face and non-contact, smart tourism incorporating information and communication technology (ICT) is actively encouraged and promoted. The purpose of this study is to empirically verify how perceived pleasure, perceived awakening, and perceived domination, which are three important variables of emotional response theory, affect the intention to continue use through perceived usefulness, expectation, and satisfaction. The survey was conducted for two weeks from November 1 to 15, 2020. A total of 175 surveys were collected during the period and used for analysis. As a result of the study, first, perceived pleasure did not significantly affect perceived usefulness, expectation, satisfaction, and intention to continue use. Second, perceived awakening had a significant effect on expectations, but did not significantly affect perceived usefulness, satisfaction, and continued use intention. Third, perceived domination had a significant effect on perceived usefulness, expectation, and continued use intention. However, it did not significantly affect satisfaction. Fourth, perceived usefulness did not significantly affect satisfaction. Fifth, expectations had a significant effect on perceived usefulness and satisfaction. Sixth, satisfaction had a significant effect on the intention to continue use. Through this, companies and developers that provide online review content for aviation and hotels should know what part of the content is actually focused on and provide it to customers. In addition, content should be provided in consideration of the emotional aspects that aviation and hotel online review users feel while watching videos.
This study attempts to explore factors that influence the perception of importance of information security. Three possible exogenous variables including perceived certainty of punishment, perceived response cost, and acquiescense are suggested that are based on the protectiom motivation theory. As a result, we found followings. First, The perceived punishment certainty has a significant effect on the perceived importance of information security. Also, it influences a negative effect on acquiescence. Second, the response cost has a negative effect on the perceived importance of information security. In addition, the response cost positively effects on acquiescence. Finally, acquiescence negatively influences on the perceived importance of information security. The results show that, in order to increase the perceived importance of information security among employees, it is necessary to make them aware that a security violation can result in certain punishment. At the same time, organizations should also attempt to remove major obstacles accompanying security behaviors of employees. Finally, organizations encourage open communication relating to information security among employees.
This study explores how well parents and their children recognize the social attitudes of one another. Mothers, fathers and youths were asked to state their own opinion on various social issues then predict their children's, fathers' and mothers' responses(attributed attitudes). Empirical evaluation of the possible socialization consequences of actual versus attributed attitudes leads to a series of hypotheses. The data were collected from single students at a university in Seoul and their parents. Included in the seven social attitude were sexuality, educational, economic, political, ecological, religious and family issues. Analysis of the responses 98-110 triads, each consisting a mother, a father and a young adult child showed that both mothers and fathers were limited in their ability to gauge the attitudes of their children. Guided by attribution theory, this study tested several hypothesized relationships between the actual response of mother, the actual response of the father, the perceived response of the mother, the perceived response of the father and the actual response of the child. The theoretical model was tested with AMOS 5.0, utilizing path analysis, which is a form of structural equation modeling with manifest variables. Overall model fit was assessed by examining GFI, NFI, TLI, CFI and RMR. Results of the data analysis can be summarized as follows. First, the children perceived their mothers and fathers to be highly similar in their opinions and the actual responses of the mothers and the fathers were considerably correlated. Second, the fathers' responses whether attributed or actual were more predictive than the mothers' responses to their children's opinions. The alternative model suggests considerable support for the attribution theory. Indeed, within a family, the actual opinions of parents appear to have little direct bearing on the child's orientations, except when the actual orientations are perceived and reinterpreted by the children. It is not what parents think, but what their children think they think that predicts their offsprings' attitudes.
This study proposed a research model that can explain the usage intentions of users and non-users by considering the performance aspects of personal mobility and external environmental factors based on the SOR (Stimulus-Organism-Response) model, A survey was conducted targeting domestic users and non-users, and research models and hypotheses were verified through Partial Least Square (PLS) and Artificial Neural Network (ANN). As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that the users' perceived satisfaction and perceived trust had a positive effect on their intention to use, and that perceived risk and environmental value had a significant relationship with perceived satisfaction and perceived trust. For non-users, it was found that there was a positive correlation between perceived satisfaction and intention to use, and it was verified that perceived risk and environmental value, like users, were significant antecedents of perceived satisfaction and perceived trust. Among the remaining variables, the perceived mobility of users and the perceived ease of use of non-users were respectively presented as important influencing factors on perceived satisfaction.
