The fixed ends beam is analyzed by the s d 0 f system with the rigid-plastic model. And the safety criteria of the fixed ends beam to the Impulsive loads are established with the peak-load ratio to the static collapse load and impulse ratio to the ideal impulse producing the critical displacement. It is shown that the impulse and the peak-load of the impulsive loads are the important factors for the damage of the structures. It is also shown that the damage curves with the peak-load and impulse ratio are useful method to estimate the damage of the structures due to the emphasis on the equivalent dynamic loads rather than the equivalent static loads in the process of deriving the curve.

Electric load forecasting is essential for effective power system planning and operation. Complex and nonlinear relationships exist between the electric loads and their exogenous factors. In addition, time-series load data has non-stationary characteristics, such as trend, seasonality and anomalous day effects, making it difficult to predict the future loads. This paper proposes a locally-weighted polynomial neural network (LWPNN), which is a combination of a polynomial neural network (PNN) and locally-weighted regression (LWR) for daily shortterm peak load forecasting. Model over-fitting problems can be prevented effectively because PNN has an automatic structure identification mechanism for nonlinear system modeling. LWR applied to optimize the regression coefficients of LWPNN only uses the locally-weighted learning data points located in the neighborhood of the current query point instead of using all data points. LWPNN is very effective and suitable for predicting an electric load series with nonlinear and non-stationary characteristics. To confirm the effectiveness, the proposed LWPNN, standard PNN, support vector regression and artificial neural network are applied to a real world daily peak load dataset in Korea. The proposed LWPNN shows significantly good prediction accuracy compared to the other methods.

The safety criteria for the simple beam with a rigid-plastic model under the impulsive loadings are established with the peak-load ratio to the static collapse load and impulse ratio to the ideal impulse producing the plastic hinge at the mid-span. It is shown that the impulse and peak-load of the impulsive loadings are the important factors for the damage of the structures. It is also shown that the damage curves with the peak-load and impulse ratio may be useful method to estimate the damage of the structures due to the emphasis on the equivalent dynamic loads rather than the equivalent static loads in the process of deriving the curve.

This study is focused on the root mean square and peak-to-valley based on the injection conditions of the f-theta lens, one of the main components of laser printers and laser scanning systems. The f-theta lens of an aspherical plastic lens requires ultra-preaction. Injection molding is typically used for the mass production of aspherical plastic lenses. In the injection-molding method, the resin in the lens shape is filled with the resin after melting the plastic pellets at a constant temperature and then cooled. It is necessary to maintain a uniform injection molding system to produce high-quality lenses. These injection-molding systems are influenced by different factors, such as pressure, speed, temperature, mold, and cooling. It is possible to obtain a lens that exhibits the optical characteristics required to achieve harmony. We investigated the root mean square and peak-to-valley caused by variations in temperature, a critical parameter in the melting and cooling of plastic resins generated inside and outside the injection mold.
Proton therapy using the Bragg peak is one of the radiation therapies and can deliver its maximum energy to the tumor with giving least energy for normal tissue. A cross-sectional image of the human body taken with the computed tomography (CT) has been used for radiation therapy planning. The HU values change according to the tube voltage, which lead to the change in the boundary and thickness of the anatomical structure on the CT image. This study examined the changes in the Bragg peak of the brain region according to the thickness variation in the head phantom composed of several materials using the Geant4. In the phantom composed of a single material, the Bragg peak according to the type of media and the incident energy of the proton beams were calculated, and the reliability of Geant4 code was verified by the Bragg peak. The variation of the peak in the brain region was examined when each thickness of the head phantom was changed. When the thickness of the soft tissue was changed, there was no change in the peak position, and for the skin the change in the peak was small. The change of the peak position was mainly changed when the bone thickness. In particular, when the bone was changed only or the bone was changed together with other tissues, the amount of change in the peak position was the same. It is considered that measurement of the accurate bone thickness in CT images is one of the key factors in depth-dose distribution of the radiation therapy planning.
In recent year, the coat layer drops and the rebar rust of bridge parapets, which caused the structural performance degradation. In order to achieve the comprehensive rehabilitation, ultra high performance cementitious composites is proposed to existing RC parapet rehabilitation. The influence factors of UHPCC rehabilitation includes two parts, i.e., internal factors related with material, such as UHPCC layer thickness, corrosion ratio of rebars, fiber volume fraction, and external factors related with the load, such as impact speeds, impact angles, vehicle mass. The influence of the factors was analyzed in this paper based on the nonlinear finite element. The analysis results of the maximum dynamic deformation and the peak impact load of parapets revealed the influence of the internal factors and the external factors on anti-collision performance and degree degradation. This research may provide a reference for the comprehensive multifunctional rehabilitation of existing bridge parapets.
Many factors affect foot and ankle biomechanics during walking, including gait speed and anthropometric characteristics. However, speed has not been taken into account in foot kinematics and kinetics during walking. This study examined the effect of walking speed on foot joint motion and peak plantar pressure during the walking phase. Eighty healthy subjects (40 men, 40 women) were recruited. Maximal dorsiflexion and excursion were measured at the first metatarsophalangeal joints during walking phase at three different cadences (80, 100, and 120 step/min) using a three dimensional motion analysis system (CMS70P). At the same time, peak plantar pressure was investigated using pressure distribution platforms (MatScan system) under the hallux heads of the first, second, and third metatarsal bones and heel. Maximal dorsiflexion and excursion and excursion at the ankle joint decreased significantly with increasing walking speed. Peak plantar pressure increased significantly under the heads of the first of the first, second, and third metatarsal bones, and heel with increasing walking speed: three was no change under the hallux. There were no significant changes in maximal dorsiflexion or excursion at the first metatarsophalangeal joint. The results show that walking speed should be considered when comparing gait parameters. The results also suggest that slow walking speeds may decrease forefoot peak plantar pressure in patients with peripheral neuropathy who have a high risk of skin breakdown under the forefoot.
In this study, the $CaSO_4:Eu$ TLDs are fabricated and their trap parameters are determined. The optimum concentration of Eu for fabrication of the $CaSO_4:Eu$ TLD is 0.5 mol% and optimum temperature is $600^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours sintering in air. The glow curve of $CaSO_4:Eu$ consists of two glow peaks and these peaks are isolated by thermal bleaching method. Trap parameters of two glow peaks are measured using the initial rise, the peak shape, the heating rate and the least square curve fitting methods. The activation energies of the glow peak I and II are 1.00 eV and 1.09 eV, and the frequency factors are $7.04{\times}10^{11}\;s^{-1}$ and $5.12{\times}10^{11}\;s^{-1}$ and the kinetic orders are 1.11 and 1.33, respectively.

In this paper, we aimed to examine the flowering dates of cherry blossom and the peak dates of maple leaves in South Korea, by the combination of temperature observation data from ASOS (Automated Surface Observing System) and NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) from MODIS (Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer). The more recent years, the faster the flowering dates and the slower the peak dates. This is because of the impacts of climate change with the increase of air temperature in South Korea. By reflecting the climate change, our statistical models could reasonably predict the plant phenology with the CC (Correlation Coefficient) of 0.870 and the MAE (Mean Absolute Error) of 3.3 days for the flowering dates of cherry blossom, and the CC of 0.805 and the MAE of 3.8 for the peak dates of maple leaves. We could suppose a linear relationship between the plant phenology DOY (day of year) and the environmental factors like temperature and NDVI, which should be inspected in more detail. We found that the flowering date of cherry blossom was closely related to the monthly mean temperature of February and March, and the peak date of maple leaves was much associated with the accumulated temperature. Amore sophisticated future work will be required to examine the plant phenology using higher-resolution satellite images and additional meteorological variables like the diurnal temperature range sensitive to plant phenology. Using meteorological grid can help produce the spatially continuous raster maps for plant phenology.

The present study analyzes T1 TSE and T1 slice sel. IR (dark_fluid) signal strength according to the degree of gadolinium contrast agent dilution and analyzes the turbo factors with regard to changes in the maximum and overall signal strength to study correlations between changes and signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs) and compare peak-to-peak SNR (PSNR) enhancement in order to improve the quality of T1-weighted images. Enhancement TR (600 msec) evaluated to determine the T1 TSE turbo factor and obtain the maximum signal strength, T1WI were used sequentially to experiment with turbo factors_1-4. T1 slice sel. IR (dark-fluid) was used to sequentially test turbo factors_2-5 but not turbo factor_1 at a TR (1500 msec) and compare data at an increase in T1 of 900 msec. The T1 TSE was reduced according to the contrast agent concentration. Phantom signal strength increased, whereas turbo factors_1-4 exhibited maximum signal strength at a concentration of 3 mmol, followed by a gradual decrease. In the turbo factors_2-5, the signal strength increased sharply to maximum signal strength at 0.7 mmol, followed by a reduction. T1 TSE had a greater maximum signal strength than did T1 slice sel. IR (dark_fluid). A comparison of SNR found that T1 TSE imaging was superior (33.3 dB) in turbo factor_1 and T1 slice sel. IR (dark_fluid) was highest (33.9 dB) at turbo factor_5. A PSNR comparison analysis was not sufficient to distinguish between the images obtained with both techniques at 30 dB or higher under all experimental conditions.
