  • The object of this study is form finding, stress-strain analysis and cutting pattern analysis of membrane structures under the following assumptions : (1) material is linearly elastic (2) stress state is plane stress. The cable and membrane structures undergo large deformation because of its highly flexibility, therefore, we must take account of its geometric nonlinearity. The analysis procedure is consisted of three steps considering geometric nonlinearity unlike any other structures. First step is the form finding analysis to determine the initial equilibrium shape. Second step is the stress-strain analysis to investigate the behaviors of structures under various external loads. Once a stationary shape has been fount a cutting pattern based on the form finding analysis may be generated for manufacturing procedure. In this paper, form finding, stress-strain analysis and cutting pattern analysis is carried out for applying to Seoguipo worldcup soccer stadium roof structures and optimal cutting pattern analysis technique is proposed.

  • The demand for coverall-type protective clothing are increasing in many industrial fields; however, it is impossible to evaluate the wearers' apparel fit because there is no commercialized pattern in the market. This study produces a manual for the process of acquiring patterns by separating PPE products into pieces to provide information on acquiring patterns. The analysis was on coverall-type non woven protective clothing in the domestic market, and 4 panels examined the validity, reliability, and efficiency of various possible methods on each step of process. Five steps were conducted to acquire patterns removing wrinkles, marking seams lines, separating seams, and pattern completing. The process of converting these into pattern files was designed through three procedures of digitizing, editing, and exporting and detailed stages. Fitting tests were undertaken, real patterns by actual modeling and pattern files by virtual modeling; all showed similar forms with outfits wearing ready-made protective coveralls. This study sought the most efficient and objective method of virtual modeling and proposed it as a manual. It is expected for the pattern reverse-designing manual through products analysis presented in this study that would be a helpful addition of information to the pattern tracing of pattern-less clothing products.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a slacks pattern drafting method for the fatty women of 40∼55 aged Korean women who are more than 1.5 Rohrer's index on the basis of their physical characteristics. The study was composed as follows; 1. Body measurement and statistical analysis: One hundred and thirty women between the ages of 40∼55 over 1.5 Rohrer's index were measured on 21 items. Mean, standard deviation, variance, maximum, minimum, range were computed. 2. 4 types of conventional slacks pattern were collected. The most accepted conventional slacks pattern was decided through wearing test. The new pattern was based onthe most accepted conventional pattern, and developed through wearing tests. 3. Evaluation of the new pattern drafting method: The sensory evaluation was applied to evaluate the new pattern by comparing is with the most accepted conventional pattern. According to the statistical analysis of the result of the 12 items, all the items showed significant differences (α 0.01) between the two, with the new pattern having higher scores.

  • The objectives of this study were to investigate the perceptions of Korean female university students for clothing pattern tendency and structural element of clothing pattern image dimension and to find how individual personality type influence the preferred clothing pattern characteristics. For this study, a questionnaire was designed and sent to 600 female university students of Daejeon, Seoul and metropolitan area. The tool used in this study was MBTI(The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) Form G Korean version and for the analysis of data SPSS 10.0 package were used. 10 representative patterns for this study were floral, dot, stripe, check, animal, abstract & artistic, geometric, vegetable & leaf, paisely, patchwork pattern. The data were analyzed by factor analysis, arithmetic mean, One-Way ANOVA, x²-test. The major findings were as follows: Clothing pattern image dimension perceived by Korean female university students for 10 representative patterns were basic form, deluxe, specialty, and cultural dimension. Among them, basic form and deluxe dimension were major dimensions. In basic form dimension, dot pattern score was high indicating female students perceive it as light, comfortable, clean, cool and simple pattern image. In deluxe dimension, floral pattern scored high and in specialty dimension, abstract and artistic pattern scored high among other pattern image. In cultural dimension, geometric pattern and check pattern scored high. Based on other detailed analysis results, It is concluded that the personality type greatly influence clothing pattern evaluation. For example, in case of color combination of patchwork pattern, there was a difference in color preference depend on a personality type such as sensing(S) or intuition(N). Therefore, sensing personality type preferred adjacent color combination than contrast color combination. Detailed marketing strategy is necessary in planning textile design of merchandise plan.

  • The purpose of this study is to discover the context and pattern of turnover social workers have experienced. To achieve this purpose, researchers collected data from in-depth interviews with seven social workers who have experiences of turnover and analysed the data using context-pattern analysis method. Research findings are composed of individual context-pattern analysis and integrated context-pattern analysis. In individual context-pattern analysis, researchers mixed time-dimension(before turnover/on the process/after turnover) and level-dimension(experienced phenomenon/meaning of experiences/context connected with phenomenon and meaning) and analysed the context of every stages and serial pattern. Also, we connected with each contexts and patterns and integrated the context-pattern of turnover. Integrated context-pattern structure is divided for four areas; organization before turnover, organization after turnover, social worker as a stakeholder of turnover, and network of social worker. Based on the results of the study, administrative recommendations were suggested in order to manage the turnover of social workers in social work fields.

  • In longitudinal studies missing data are common and require a complicated analysis. There are two popular modeling frameworks, pattern mixture model (PMM) and selection models (SM) to analyze the missing data. We focus on the PMM and we also propose Bayesian pattern mixture models using generalized linear mixed models (GLMMs) for longitudinal binary data. Sensitivity analysis is used under the missing not at random assumption.

  • The purpose of the study was to survey the distribution patterns of inorganic elements of PM-10 in the various indoor environments and analyze the pollution patterns of aerosol in various places of indoor environment using a pattern recognition method based on cluster analysis and disjoint principal component analysis. A total of 40 samples in the indoor had been collected using mini-vol portable samplers. These samples were analyzed for their 19 bulk inorganic compounds such as B, Na, Mg, Al, K, Ca, Ti, V, Cr, Fe, Ni, Cu, Zn, As, Se, Cd, Ba, Ce, and Pb by using an ICP-MS. By applying a disjoint principal component analysis, four patterns of the indoor air pollutions were distinguished. The first pattern was identified as a group with high concentrations of PM-10, Na, Mg, and Ca. The second pattern was identified as a group with high concentrations B, Mg, At, Ca, Fe, Cu, and Ba. The third pattern was a group of sites with high concentrations of K, Zn. Cd. The fourth pattern was a group with low concentrations PM-10 and all inorganic elements. This methodology was found to be helpful enough to set the criteria standard of indoor air quality, corresponding pollutants, and classification of indoor environment categories when making an indoor air quality law.

  • The Auto Regressive Parameter Estimation and Pattern Classification of EKG Signal for Automatic Diagnosis. This paper presents the results from pattern discriminant analysis of an AR (auto regressive) model parameter group, which represents the HRV (heart rate variability) that is being considered as time series data. HRV data was extracted using the correct R-point of the EKG wave that was A/D converted from the I/O port both by hardware and software functions. Data number (N) and optimal (P), which were used for analysis, were determined by using Burg's maximum entropy method and Akaike's Information Criteria test. The representative values were extracted from the distribution of the results. In turn, these values were used as the index for determining the range o( pattern discriminant analysis. By carrying out pattern discriminant analysis, the performance of clustering was checked, creating the text pattern, where the clustering was optimum. The analysis results showed first that the HRV data were considered sufficient to ensure the stationarity of the data; next, that the patern discrimimant analysis was able to discriminate even though the optimal order of each syndrome was dissimilar.
