  • In this paper, a meshfree-enriched finite element method (ME-FEM) is introduced for the large deformation analysis of nonlinear path-dependent problems involving contact. In linear ME-FEM, the element formulation is established by introducing a meshfree convex approximation into the linear triangular element in 2D and linear tetrahedron element in 3D along with an enriched meshfree node. In nonlinear formulation, the area-weighted smoothing scheme for deformation gradient is then developed in conjunction with the meshfree-enriched element interpolation functions to yield a discrete divergence-free property at the integration points, which is essential to enhance the stress calculation in the stage of plastic deformation. A modified variational formulation using the smoothed deformation gradient is developed for path-dependent material analysis. In the industrial metal forming problems, the mortar contact algorithm is implemented in the explicit formulation. Since the meshfree-enriched element shape functions are constructed using the meshfree convex approximation, they pose the desired Kronecker-delta property at the element edge thus requires no special treatments in the enforcement of essential boundary condition as well as the contact conditions. As a result, this approach can be easily incorporated into a conventional displacement-based finite element code. Two elasto-plastic problems are studied and the numerical results indicated that ME-FEM is capable of delivering a volumetric locking-free and pressure oscillation-free solutions for the large deformation problems in metal forming analysis.

  • To achieve the required services in the next-generation cellular telephone systems, the size of the cell become smaller and/or is of mixed macrocells and microcells. For more efficient system control, We make use of the mobile position and velocity information, provided that the mobility information is relatively accurate. In this paper, we propose an improved version of path-loss measurement algorithm introduced in literature[11]. The microcellular structure with severe multipath fading, reflection and refraction make mobile position and velocity estimation very difficult. In the proposed method, the pre-recorded path-loss informations, called the discrete position data base, are searched to estimate the position. Velocity estimation is obtained as a difference of the position values with respect to the time difference. Moving average filter is applied to smooth the estimated velocity and to reduce the error in the estimates. We also propose a method to simplify system implementation by reducing search area for discrete area database.

  • In this paper we implemented various image processing filtering using the format converter. This design method is based on realized the large processor-per-pixel array by integrated circuit technology. These two types of integrated structure are can be classify associative parallel processor and parallel process DRAM (or SRAM) cell. Layout pitch of one-bit-wide logic is Identical memory cell pitch to array high density PEs in integrate structure. This format converter design has control path implementation efficiently, and can be utilize the high technology without complicated controller hardware. Sequence of array instruction are generated by host computer before process start, and instructions are saved on unit controller. Host computer is executed the pixel-parallel operation starting at saved instructions after processing start. As a result, we obtained three result that 1) simple smoothing suppresses higher spatial frequencies, reducing noise but also blurring edges, 2) a smoothing and segmentation process reduces noise while preserving sharp edges, and 3) median filtering may be applied to reduce image noise. Median filtering eliminates spikes while maintaining sharp edges and preserving monotonic variations in pixel values.

  • TCS Data imply characteristics of traffic conditions. However, there are outliers in TCS data, which can not represent the travel time of the pertinent section, if these outliers are not eliminated, travel time may be distorted owing to these outliers. Various travel time can be distributed under the same section and time because the variation of the travel time is increase as the section distance is increase, which make difficult to calculate the representative of travel time. Accordingly, it is important to grasp travel time characteristics in order to compute the representative of travel time using TCS Data. In this study, after analyzing the variation ratio of the travel time according to the link distance and the level of congestion, the outlier elimination model and the smoothing model for TCS data were proposed. The results show that the proposed model can be utilized for estimating a reliable travel time for a long-distance path in which there are a variation of travel times from the same departure time, the intervals are large and the change in the representative travel time is irregular for a short period.

  • This study introduces a smoothed finite-element implementation into the phase-field framework. In recent years, the phase-field method has recieved considerable attention in crack initiation and propagation since the method needs no further treatment to express the crack growth path. In the phase-field method, high strain-energy accuracy is needed to capture the complex crack growth path; thus, it is obtained in the framework of the smoothed finite-element method. The salient feature of the smoothed finite-element method is that the finite element cells are divided into sub-cells and each sub-cell is rebuilt as a smoothing domain where smoothed strain energy is calculated. An adaptive quadtree refinement is also employed in the present framework to avoid the computational burden. Numerical experiments are performed to investigate the performance of the proposed approach, compared with that of the finite-element method and the reference solutions.

  • The positioning accuracy of the Global Positioning System (GPS) has been improved considerably during the past two decades. The main error sources such as ionospheric refraction, orbital uncertainty, antenna phase center variation, signal multipath, and tropospheric delay have been reduced substantially, if not eliminated. In this study, the GPS data collected by the GPS receivers that were established as continuously operating reference stations by International GNSS Service (IGS), Ministry of the Interior (MOl), Central Weather Bureau (CWB), and Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) Of Taiwan are utilized to investigate the impact of atmospheric water vapor on GPS positioning determination. The surface meteorological measurements that were concurrently acquired by instruments co-located with the GPS receivers include temperature, pressure and humidity data. To obtain the influence of the GPS height on the proposed impact study. A hydrodynamic ocean tide model (GOTOO.2 model) and solid earth tide were used to improve the GPS height. The surface meteorological data (pressure, temperature and humidity) were introduced to the data processing with 24 troposphere parameters. The results from the studies associated with different GPS height were compared for the cases with and without a priori knowledge of surface meteorological measurements. The finding based on the measurements in 2003 is that the surface meteorological measurements have an impact on the GPS height. The associated daily maximum of the differences is 1.07 cm for the KDNM station. The impact is reduced due to smoothing when the average of the GPS height for the whole year is considered.

  • In order to visualize participating media in 3D space, they usually calculate the incoming radiance by subdividing the ray path into small subintervals, and accumulating their respective light energy due to direct illumination, scattering, absorption, and emission. Among these light phenomena, scattering behaves in very complicated manner in 3D space, often requiring a great deal of simulation efforts. To effectively simulate the light scattering effect, several approximation techniques have been proposed. Volume photon mapping takes a simple approach where the light scattering phenomenon is represented in volume photon map through a stochastic simulation, and the stored information is explored in the rendering stage. While effective, this method has a problem that the number of necessary photons increases very fast when a higher variance reduction is needed. In an attempt to resolve such problem, we propose a different approach for rendering particle-based volume data where kernel smoothing, one of several density estimation methods, is explored to represent and reconstruct the light in-scattering effect. The effectiveness of the presented technique is demonstrated with several examples of volume data.

  • In grid system, Task scheduling based on list scheduling models has showed low complexity and high efficiency in fully connected processor set environment. However, earlier schemes did not consider sufficiently the communication cost among tasks and the composition process of lightpath for communication in optical gird environment. In this thesis, we propose LSOG (Leveling Selection in Optical Grid) which sets task priority after forming a hierarchical directed acyclic graph (DAG) that is optimized in optical grid environment. To determine priorities of task assignment in the same level, proposed algorithm executes the task with biggest communication cost between itself and its predecessor. Then, it considers the shortest route for communication between tasks. This process improves communication cost in scheduling process through optimizing link resource usage in optical grid environment. We compared LSOG algorithm with conventional ELSA (Extended List Scheduling Algorithm) and SCP (Scheduled Critical Path) algorithm. We could see the enhancement in overall scheduling performance through increment in CCR value and smoothing network environment.

  • A signal passed through multi-path channel suffers ISI(Inter-Symbol Interference) and severe distortions caused by channel delay spread and noise components at the SC-FDE(Single Carrier with Frequency Domain Equalizer) transmission. Conventional UW(Unique-Word) based SC-FDE iterative channel estimation improves channel estimation performance by smoothing estimated CIR(Channel Impulse Response) of the noise components outside the channel length at time domain and restoring the broken cyclic property through UW reconstruction. In this paper, we propose channel estimation scheme through noise suppression within channel length. To suppress the noise, we estimate noise standard deviation as estimated CIR of the noise components outside the channel length and make criteria of the noise standard deviation gain that doesn't affect the original signal samples. When estimated CIR samples within channel length are less than the criteria value using the noise standard deviation and gain, the noise components are removed. Simulation results show that the proposed channel estimation scheme brings good channel MSE(Mean Square Error) and good BER(Bit Error Rate) performance.
