  • The purpose of this study was to explore the effects of parenting behaviors on preschoolers' executive function, focusing on methods of measuring executive function. The subjects of this study were 166 preschoolers who were 3 to 5 years of age, and their parents. Data were collected by various performance-based tests and their parents' reports and analyzed by descriptive statistics and hierarchical linear regression analysis using the SPSS 19.0 program. The major results were as follows: First, maternal autonomous and paternal affective parenting behaviors significantly affected preschoolers' performance-based executive function. Second, maternal affective parenting behaviors significantly affected preschoolers' parent-report executive function. The results suggest the importance of positive parenting practices in the development of preschoolers' executive function.

  • In recent, most'of automobile industries adopt the concept of JIT production. According to the concept, the paternal manufacturers require their suppliers to supply parts just in time, so it is very important for a subcontractor to produce the parts in the appointed time of delivery. This study develops a production information system for Woosin Industry, which is one of such subcontractors of Hyundai Motors Company(HMC). The system is developed for use in Client/Server environment. In this study, the following three modules are developed, i. e., the production scheduling module, the sales management module to deal with the information about orders of HMC, delivery of parts, and bill collecting, and the module for supporting material requirements planning and purchase of material.

  • This current study was designed to explore the meaning of being a mother and a father in contemporary Korean society by examining their roles perceived by mothers and fathers with children at different developmental stages. A total of three hundred and ninety four couples with children aged from one to seventeen years were recruited for the study, and they were asked to complete a set of questionnaires about paternal and maternal roles each. A modified version of Generative Fathering Scales by Lee et al.(1999), was used to measure the roles perceived by fathers and mothers in two areas: (1) parenting responsibilities and (2) involvement in childrearing practices. The parental roles, as expected, were viewed differently by the surveyees with children at different ages: the younger child/ren a father has, the more involvement he emphasizes in childrearing. These results indicate that the roles of mothers and fathers should be considered in the context of developing children.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine grandparents' role to their grandchildren, the role type, and the variables that influence the role. For this purpose, data were collected from 542 grandparents through questionnaire. The main findings are as follows: 1. The most frequent role activity that grandparents perform include 'advising their grandchildren to be successful,' 'encouraging them to study hard,' 'having them help housework,' and 'teaching them how to behave', whereas the least one is 'to teach things such as cooking, paduk, and chess.' 2. Supporting role, educating role and raising role are three types of grandparents' role activity to their grandchildren. 3. One of the significant variables affecting their role level is living arrangement of grandparents. In addition, age, economic level, and educational level are partially effective variables in grandparents' role, along with whether they work or not, how often they meet their grandchildren, and how old their grandchildren are. However, it is not among significant variables whether they are healthy, or whether they are paternal or maternal.

Conclusion: Adolescents who were experiencing maternal rejection/restriction was at significantly increased risk for being perpetrators. Development of preventive and intervention programs with the goal of improving parenting skills may help to reduce adolescent school bullying.

  • During fertilization, morphological and molecular events in male and female chromatin are precisely controlled in time. However, little information is available on onset of pronuclear formation and first S-phase entry in the pig following intracytoplasmic sperm injection. To assess species specific paternal effect on the pronuclear formation and initiation of first S-phase in the pig, we examined time of onset of male and female pronuclear formation and onset of DNA synthesis in the oocytes following pig or mouse sperm injection. • The purpose of the study was to investigate the effects of economic hardship. parents'intro-eatrovert personality, and depression on parenting. The subjects were 487 seventh to ninth grade children and their parents. Data were collected through questionnaires. Children from which family experienced severe income loss perceived fathers'child-rearing attitudes as more warm/nurturant when fathers had extrovert personality. On the other hand, children under the worse paternal working condition perceived mothers'child-rearing attitudes as more warm/nurturant when mothers had introvert personality. The impacts of family income loss on mothers'rejecting/inconsistant child-rearing attitudes were exacerbated by its indirect effect through maternal depression.

  • This primary purpose of this study was to analyze relations between child temperament and parental disciplinary practices. The subjects were 220 mothers and 220 fathers of kindergarten children. Child temperament was assessed using Colorado Childhood Temperament Inventory and parental disciplinary practices were measured by Parenting Scale. Resets indicated that (1) Fathers recognized their male children's temperament as more soothable and less emotional than those of female children whereas mothers recognized their male children's temperament as more active than those of female children. (2) Fathers recognized their children's temperament as more active than did mothers, but mothers recognized their children's temperament as more soothable than did fathers. (3) Children who were more sociable, less emotional, more sootable, and had longer attention span and persistence were related to more effective patemal disciplinary practices. (4) Children who were less emotional and had longer attention span and persistence were related to more effective maternal disciplinary practices. (5) Paternal disciplinary practices were explained by children's emotional temperament, whereas the best predictors of maternal disciplinary practices were children's emotional temperament and attention span and persistence.
