The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of attachment with parent and peer on the adolescent's leadership life skills. The subjects were 281 students from three middle schools in Incheon city. The data were analyzed by multiple and hierarchical regression. Major findings of this study were as follows; First, present study suggested that parental attachment, peer attachment, and adolescent's leadership life skills were a moderate level. And, adolescent's leadership life skills were a significant differences on the parental and peer attachment, respectively. In particular, the more amicable communication with parents and peers, the more developed their overall leadership life skills. Focusing on parental and peer attachment relationship, the educational implication for promoting adolescent's leadership life skills were discussed.
Objective: The goal of this study were (1) to examine the type of parental time, (2) to investigate the family's characteristics that affect the parental time types. (3), to identify the differences in time satisfaction and time deficit according to the types of parental time of mothers with preschool children. Methods: The data source for this research was the 2014 Time Use Survey conducted by the Korea National Statistical Office(391 time diaries). Data were analyzed using K-means cluster analysis, multinominal regression, and ANOVA. Results: The results can be summarized as follows. First, parental time was classified into four groups; non-participation, play-centered, physical care-centered, unspecified group. Second, the characteristics of each type depended on children's age, mother's education level, mother's income, and dual earner families. Third, time deficit showed significant differences between play-centered and non-participation type. Conclusion/Implications: Based on the results, implications for policy regarding child care and labor were suggested.
This study was aimed at examining the paths through which family socioeconomic status as indicated by family income and parental education influenced preschool-aged children's socioemotional and cognitive development through the mediating role of parental warmth and the home learning environment. The study made use of data from 1,080 families who participated in the 5th wave of the Panel Study on Korean Children, when their children were approximately 4 years of age. Structural equation modeling analysis revealed that the models, including both parental warmth and the home learning environment did not fit the data well. The effects of warmth on social competence and cognitive development were not statistically significant. The modified models, using the home learning environment as a mediator between family SES and child's developmental outcomes showed that higher level of family income and parental education predicted a more cognitively stimulating home environment, which in turn, predicted a child's greater levels of social competence and positive cognitive development. The social competence of preschool-aged children again significantly predicted their cognitive development. The mediating effects of the home learning environment were statistically supported.
The recent type of dysfunctional family is caused not only by the loss of a family member, which is the traditional type of dysfunction, but also by the absence of a functional aspect. In order for a family to function healthily, it is necessary to have the right child rearing by the parents and the right parental role. Accordingly, this study is to identify the difference in stress from child rearing and the parental role in dysfunctional families, which have been increasing enormously in recent times. With this aim, 45 persons from dysfunctional families owing to divorce, 51 persons from other dysfunctional families, and 48 persons from general families were subject to a test about stress from child rearing and the parental role. As a result, for stress from child rearing, mothers in dysfunctional families perceived stress from child rearing more highly than ones in general families; and also for parental role, the level of parental role was proven lower for mothers in dysfunctional families than ones in general families.
This study examines the relationship between mothers' parental intelligence, parenting stress and the perception of parents regarding their children's very early extra-curricula education. A total of 436 mothers, whose children were enrolled in seven private kindergarten and child-care centers in Seoul, responded to the questionnaire. The results of this study show that the mothers who participated generally have high parental intelligence scores, but the scores of their parenting stress were low. They also tend to view their very young children's extracurricular education in a positive light. These three variables also appear to be significantly different based on the educational level and family income of the mothers. Finally, a significant relationship is shown to exist between the mothers' parental intelligence and their parenting stress, although the mothers' parental intelligence does not seem to be significantly related to their perceptions of very early extracurricular education for their children. However, the study suggests that the parenting stress of mothers is significantly related to their perception regarding very early extracurricular education.
Purpose: The purpose of the study was to identify degrees of parenting stress, parenting efficacy, parenting behavior and parental satisfaction, and to identify factors influencing parenting satisfaction of mothers who had preschool children. Methods: The research participants were 176 mothers. All of mothers had preschool children, aged 2 to 6 years old, and attended one of 3 day care centers or 2 Kindergartens located in J city. Data were collected by convenience sampling using self-report questionnaires which contained items on general characteristics, parenting stress, parenting efficacy, parenting behavior, and parenting satisfaction. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, correlation, and multiple regression. Results: The average level of parenting satisfaction of mothers with preschool children was $5.38{\pm}0.79$. Positive parenting behavior and affective parenting efficacy were verified factors influencing parental satisfaction. These factors accounted for 41.4% of parental satisfaction. Conclusion: The results indicate that positive parenting behavior and affective parenting efficacy have the biggest impact on parental satisfaction. The results of this study provide the basic data for the development of parental education program aimed at improving parental satisfaction of mothers who have preschool children.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships between female adolescents's relationships with their parents, psychological well-being, and attitudes towards eating. General characteristics of the subjects such as their school grades, and religion, and their parents' level of educational, marital status, and income were also analyzed in relation with the three major variables. Female adolescents' psychological well-being consisted of two indices: self-esteem and depression. The sample of this study consisted of 419 female students from 4 middle schools and 2 high schools located in Jeollabuk-Do province and the data were collected by using the method of self-administered questionnaires. The results of the analyses showed that there were significant differences in the level of parental attachment across parents' marital status, father's education level, and family income. Participants' psychological well-being levels were also different according to their grades, parents' marital status, and father's education level and income; and the level of eating attitude was different according to their school grades. The correlation analyses results indicated that parental attachment was positively related to self-esteem but negatively to a depressive mood. In addition, female students' eating attitudes were negatively associated with parental attachment and self-esteem, but positively with a depressive mood. Finally, multiple regression analysis found that a negative eating attitude was strongly influenced by a depressive mood, while parental attachment seemed to influence eating attitude indirectly through a depressive mood.
The purpose of this study was to contribute to maternal nursing in early postpartum stage and to neonatal nursing. Data were collected through self-report questionnaires which were constructed to include parental role stress scale, state-trait anxiety scale, and perception of the newborn scale. The subjects consisted of 100 mothers in the early postpartum stage at three hospitals in the Kyoung-In area, from November 8 to December 26, 1997. The data were analyzed by an SPSS program. The results are as follows ; 1. The mean of parental role stress of mothers in the early postpartum stage was 10.70$\pm$2.63. The means of state anxiety and trait anxiety of mothers were 36.29$\pm$8.45 and 38.53$\pm$8.36. The mean of perception of the newborn was 2.65$\pm$5.05, and 59% of mothers rated their newborn as better than the average newborn. 2. The level of parental role stress correlated to the level of state anxiety and trait anxiety. The level of state anxiety and trait anxiety were also related. The level of perception of the newborn was related to the level of state anxiety and trait anxiety. 3. Mothers who did not want the pregnancy, whose newborns were girls, and who already had one child had higher state anxiety than those who did not. Mothers who already had one child, and whose newborn had no specific signs had higher trait anxiety than those who did not. Mothers who professed a religions had a higher perception of the newborn than those who did not. The above findings indicate that the levels of parental role stress, state anxiety, trait anxiety and perception of the newborn of mothers in early postpartum stage were correlated. Therefore nursing intervention for reducing stress and anxiety, and improving perception of the newborn should be provided for mothers in early postpartum stage.
