  • This paper describes the design process of a 3-component load cell with a multiple parallel plate structure which may be used to measure transverse forces and twisting moment simultaneously. Also we have derived equations to predict the bending strains on the surface of the beams in the multiple parallel plate structure under transverse force or twisting moment. It reveals that the bending strains calculated from the derived equations are in good agreement with the results from finite element analysis and experiment. Also we have evaluated the rated output and interference error of each component, which can be efficiently used to design a 3-component load cell with a multiple parallel plate structure.

  • In this paper, the exact analysis of the parallel coupled line with open stub is presented. This structure shows LPF characteristics with broad stopband and sharp skirt characteristics. We derived the exact Z-matrix expression of the structure. In order to show the validation of the expression we designed $3^{th}$ order Chebyshev LPF using the structure. The simulated data excellently agreed with the predicted values by the calculation using the derived expression.

  • A parallel processing algorithm for the discrete Kalman filter, which is one of the most commonly used filtering techniques in modern control, signal processing, and communication, is proposed. To decrease the number of computations critical in the Kalman filter, previously proposed parallel algorithms are of the hierarchical structure by distributed processing of measurements, or of the systolic structure to disperse the computational burden. In this paper, a new parallel Kalman filter employing a structure similar to recursive doubling is proposed. Estimated valuse of state variables by the new algorithm converge faster to the true values because the new algorithm can process data twice faster than the conventional Kalman filter. Moreover, it maintains the optimality of the conventional Kalman filter.

  • In this paper, we propose an optimal design method of Fuzzy-Neural Networks model with parallel structure for complex and nonlinear systems. The proposed model is consists of a multiple number of FNN connected in parallel. The proposed FNNs with parallel structure is based on Yamakawa's FNN and it uses simplified inference as fuzzy inference method and Error Back Propagation Algorithm as learning rules. We use a HCM clustering and GAs to identify the structure and the parameters of the proposed model. Also, a performance index with a weighting factor is presented to achieve a sound balance between approximation and generalization abilities of the model. To evaluate the performance of the proposed model. we use the time series data for gas furnace and the numerical data of nonlinear function.

  • This analyzed a Young's modulus (E), a thermal expansion coefficient (TEC, ${\beta}$) and a thermal conductivity (${\kappa}$) of the material with simple cubic particulate inclusion using two model structures: a parallel structure and a series structure of laminated layers. The derived ${\beta}$ equations were applied to calculate the ${\beta}$ value of the W-MgO system. The accuracy was higher for the series model structure than for the parallel model structure. Young's moduli ($E_c$) of sintered porous alumina compacts were theoretically related to the development of neck growth of grain boundary between sintered two particles and expressed as a function of porosity. The series structure model with cubic pores explained well the increased tendency of $E_c$ with neck growth rather than the parallel structure model. The thermal conductivity of the three phase system of alumina-mullite-pore was calculated by a theoretical equation developed in this research group, and compared with the experimental results. The pores in the sintered composite were treated as one phase. The measured thermal conductivity of the composite with 0.5-25% porosity (open and closed pores) was in accordance with the theoretical prediction based on the parallel structure model.

  • We present experimental demonstrations of electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) structures for the wideband suppression of radiated emissions from a power bus in high-speed printed circuit boards (PCBs). In most of the PCB designs, a parallel plate waveguide (PPW) structure is employed for a power bus. This structure significantly produces the wideband-radiated emissions resulting from parallel plate modes. To suppress the parallel plate modes in the wideband frequency range, the power buses based on the electromagnetic bandgap structure with a defected ground structure (DGS) are presented. DGSs are applied to a metal plane that is connected to a rectangular EBG patch by using a via structure. The use of the DGS increases the characteristic impedance value of a unit cell, thereby substantially improving the suppression bandwidth of the radiated emissions. It is experimentally demonstrated that the DGS-EBG structure significantly mitigates the radiated emissions over the frequency range of 0.5 GHz to 2 GHz as compared to the PPW.

  • In this paper an asynchronous away multiplier with a parallel array structure is introduced. This parallel array structure is used to make the computation time faster with a lower Power consumption. Asymmetric parallel away structure is used to minimize the average computation time in an asynchronous multiplier. Simulation shows that this structure reduces the time needed for computation by 55% as compared to conventional booth encoding array structures and that the multiplier with the proposed away structure shows a reduction of 40% in the computational time with a relatively lower power consumption.

  • In this paper, we applied new analog viterbi decoder to decode PR(1,2,2,1) signal for DVD and analyze the specific and signal characteristics. We implemented the parallel analog viterbi decoder and the convolution digital viterbi decoder(the digital PRML) utilizing the technology of analog parallel processing circuits. The proposed analog viterbi decoder can replace the conventional digital viterbi decoder by a new one. Our circuits design the low distortion and the high accuracy over the previous implementation. Through the parallel structure of the proposed viterbi decoder, we got the achievement of the decoding speed by the multiple times.

  • The operation time of an encoder is one of the critical implementation issues for satisfying the timing requirements of Long Term Evolution (LTE) systems because the encoder is based on binary operations. In this paper, we propose a design and implementation of a latency efficient encoder for LTE systems. By virtue of 8-bit parallel processing of the cyclic redundancy checking attachment, code block (CB) segmentation, and a parallel processor, we are able to construct engines for turbo codings and rate matchings of each CB in a parallel fashion. Experimental results illustrate that although the total area and clock period of the proposed scheme are 19% and 6% larger than those of a conventional method based on a serial scheme, respectively, our parallel structure decreases the latency by about 32% to 65% compared with a serial structure. In particular, our approach is more latency efficient when the encoder processes a number of CBs. In addition, we apply the proposed scheme to a real system based on LTE, so that the timing requirement for ACK/NACK transmission is met by employing the encoder based on the parallel structure.
