This study was to performed to investigate the effect of horseradish powder and mushroom waste in fattening pig diet on odorous compound concentration from slurry. Twenty fattening boars [Landrace${\times}$Yorkshire) ${\times}$ Duroc] weighing an average body weight of $78.4{\pm}8.88$ kg were randomly assigned to one of 4 treatments (control, horseradish 0.03%, mushroom waste 0.5%, and combination; horseradish 0.03% + mushroom waste 0.5%). This experiment was a randomized complete block (RCB) design using 5 pigs per treatment with 1 pig per metabolizable cage. Pigs were fed experimental diet (amount proportional to 3% of their body weight) twice a day (09:00 and 16:00) for 7 d after having 14 d adaptation period. Experimental diets were mixed with water by 1:2.5 v/v. Odorous compounds in slurry including acetate, propionate, butyrate, trans fatty acid isomers were not different (P>0.05) among treatments. There was no difference (P>0.05) in the levels of phenol compounds including phenol and p-cresol in slurry among treatments. Concentration of indole was lower (P<0.05) in horseradish group compared with others. Skatole level was highest in control and horseradish group, middle in mushroom waste group, and lowest in combination group (P<0.05). Concentration of indole compounds was lowest (P<0.05) in combination group. Data from our current study suggest that indole compounds in slurry can be reduced by administrating pigs with 0.03% horseradish powder and 0.5% mushroom waste in their diet.

BACKGROUND: Disposal of slurry animal manure produced by an anaerobic slurry-type barn method is not easy since the animal slurry contain high moisture content which makes solid-liquid separation a difficult process. However, recently, the interest about anaerobic digestion process as an environment-friendly waste disposal method has gained a wide interest because it can treat highly organic matter contained by the piggery slurry, decrease the odor after treatment, and enable the effective recovery of the methane gas which is a valuable energy resource. The objectives of this study were to identify the solubilization characteristics and to improve the anaerobic digestion efficiency of piggery slurry through full-scale anaerobic digestion experiments. METHODS AND RESULTS: In a full-scale continuous anaerobic digestion operation, the adaptability of single anaerobic digestion and its digestion efficiency were also evaluated in the farm field. The actual pH range and alkalinity concentration of piggery slurry used during the operation were comparatively higher than the concentrations of pH and alkalinity in the digestion tank which were stable at 7.5~8.0, 4,008 mg/L (as$CaCO_3$), respectively. The removal efficiency of organic matter (TCOD) by anaerobic digestion was 75~90% and methane gas production amount was at 0.33 L/L/day, a little higher than that of ordinary animal manure. CONCLUSION(s): Our findings showed higher recovery of highly purified methane and greater efficiency of anaerobic tank digestion since its methane gas content was at 65~70%.
Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of biogas slurry application on biomass production and the silage quality of corn. Methods: A field experiment was conducted in which corn was grown using different biogas slurry application rates. The effect of 25% to 500% biogas slurry nitrogen replacement (T1 to T14) on the yield and quality indices of corn were studied by field plot experiments. Results: The results revealed that biogas slurry application improved the stem diameter and relative feed value of corn silage in treatments T13 and T11. Moreover, the fermentation quality of corn silage was improved due to an increase in lactic acid content; in comparison with the chemical synthetic fertilizer (CF) group. The crude protein contents of corn silage had no obvious change with increasing biogas slurry application. However, the forage quality index of acid detergent fiber was decreased (p<0.05) in the T11 group compared with the CF group. In addition, higher (p<0.05) 30 h in vitro dry matter digestibility and 30 h in vitro neutral detergent fiber digestibility were observed in the T11 and T13 groups than in the CF group. Conclusion: Based on these results, it was concluded that the optimum biogas slurry application rate for corn was approximately 350% to 450% biogas slurry nitrogen replacement under the present experimental conditions.

Chemical mechanical polishing of aluminum and photoresist using colloidal silica-based slurry was experimented. The effects of slurry pH, silica concentration, and oxidizer ($H_2O_2$) concentration on surface roughness and removal rate were studied. The optimum slurry conditions for reduction of micro-scratch were investigated. The optimum chemical mechanical polishing with the colloidal silica-based slurry was compared with conventional chemical mechanical polishing with alumina-based slurry. Chemical mechanical polishing of the aluminum with the colloidal silica-based slurry showed improved result but chemical mechanical polishing of the photoresist did not. The improved result was comparative with that of chemical mechanical polishing with filtered alumina-based slurry which one of desirable methods to reduce the micro-scratch.
This study aimed to investigate the effect of amino acid additives to weaned piglet diets on the pH and volatile fatty acids of pig slurries. A total of 135 weaned 22 -day-old piglets (Yorkshire x Landrace x Duroc) were used in this 56-d study. The three dietary treatments were as follows: (1) Control as a basal diet, (2) 1% amino acid additive and (3) 2% amino acid additive. Both pH and acetic acid values at 71 and 78 days were significantly different in all treatment groups (p<0.05). In addition, significant differences in propionic acid values were observed among treatment groups at 64 and 78 days (p<0.05). However, pH, acetic acid, and propionic acid values did not differ between 1% and 2% amino acid treatment groups. In conclusion, adding 1% and 2% amino acid to weaned piglet diets reduced the pH, acetic acid and propionic acid contents of pig slurries by acting as a probiotic. This may help formulate increase management strategies for improving the pig housing environment.
The effect of Ba2+ ion dissolution with different pH and amount of PAA on microstructural changes of green and sintered bodies and its electrical properties was studied in aqueous nano-size BaTiO3 slurry system. The dissolution of Ba2+ was least at strong base, pH 10.8 and by addition of amount of 0.15 wt% PAA. The green body with the lowest of dissolution of Ba2+ at pH 10.8 and 0.15 wt% PAA had minimum values of average pore size, 40nm and shown high increase of sintered density. The compact sintered at 125$0^{\circ}C$ for 2 hr with highest Ba2+ dissolution had low density and dielectric constant due to abnormal grian growth. However, the sintered body with the lowest Ba2+ dissolution had high sintered density and then shown high dielectric constant.

Copper has attractive properties as a multi-level interconnection material due to lower resistivity and higher electromigration resistance as compared with Alumina and its alloy with Copper(0.5%). Among a variety of agents in Copper CMP slurry, $H_2O_2$ has commonly been used as the oxidizer However. $H_2O_2$ is so unstable that it requires stabilization to use as oxidizer Hence, stabilization of $H_2O_2$ is a vital process to get better yield in practical CMP process. In this article the stability of Hydrogen Peroxide as oxidizer of Copper CMP slurry has been investigated. When alumina abrasive was used, $\gamma$-particle Alumina C had a better stability than $\alpha$-particle abrasive. As adding KOH as pH buffering agent, $H_2O_2$ stability in slurry decreased. Urea hydrogen peroxide was used as oxidizer, an enhanced stability was gotten. When $H_3PO_4$ as $H_2O_2$ stabilizer was added, the decrease of $H_2O_2$ concentration in slurry became slower. Even though adding $H_2O_2$ in slurry after bead milling lead to better stability than in advance of bead milling, it had a lower dispersibility.
This study was carried out to determine the effect of chemical fertilizer and two fermented types of pig slurry on the total dry matter yield and quality of sorghum $\times$ sudangrass hybrid (Sorghum bicolor L. Moench) and chemical properties of soil after harvest in Jeju area. Three treatments consisted of chemical fertilizer (CF) 200kg 7kg Nha $^1$, aerobic fermented pig slurry (PS)200kg 7kg Nha $^1$, and aerobic fermented pig slurry treated with probiotics (PS+P) 200kg 7kg Nha $^1$were arranged in a randomized block design with three replications. The results obtained are summarized as follows. The heights of plant applied fermented pig slurry were slightly taller than those of plants applied chemical fertilizer during early growing stage, but there was no difference among treatments when the plants were harvested. The total forage dry matter yields were in the range of 14,848~ 15,42kg/ha, but they were not significantly different. Also, CP, NDF, ADF and mineral contents in the forage(% of DM basis) did not differ among treatments. The pH of soil was ranged from 5.35 to 5.63, but it was not significantly different. However, the content of available $P_2O_5$ of soil was higher(P<0.05) in chemical fertilizer treatment than that of soil in fermented pig slurry treatments. The content of K was higher(p<0.05) when ffrrmented pig slurry treated with probiotics was applied after the 1st harvest. but it was not different among treatments after the and harvest.
The sedimentation characteristics of ceramic fiber were analyzed when viscosity of the slurry for ceramic paper formation was varied and zeta potential change and degree of dispersion with pH were studied as well. The proper viscosity of the slurry for dispersion of fibers was between 28 and 31 cps. Zeta potential of the slurry was sensitively changed with pH adjustment and showed maximum value of -35~-36 mV at ph 7.5~9.5, which indicated better dispersion of ceramic fiber as zeta potential of the slurry was increased. The sedimentation rate of ceramic fiber in a slurry was reported minimum at the maximum zeta potential. Water content of the casted paper should be lower than 83% after vacuum dehydration for retention of binder and lower than 62% after press rolling for wet paper handling. The obtained ceramic paper had tensile strength and basis weight, $102 kgf/cm^2$ and $98 g/m^2$, respectively.

To investigate the effects of slurry temperature on the chemical mechanical polishing(CMP) performance of oxide film with silica and ceria slurries, we have studied slurry properties as a function of different slurry temperature. Also, the effects of each input parameter of slurry on the oxide CMP characteristics were investigated. The pH showed a slight tendency of decrease, the conductivity in slurries showed an increased tendency, the mean particle size in slurry decreased, and the zeta potential of slurry decreased with temperature. The removal rates significantly increased and maintained at the specific levels over 4$0^{\circ}C$. The better surface morphology of oxide films could be obtained at 40 $^{\circ}C$ of silica slurry and at 90 $^{\circ}C$ of ceria slurry. It is found that the CMP performance of oxide film could be significantly improved or controlled by change of slurry temperature.
