  • Let C be a projective plane curve of degree d whose singularities are all isolated. Suppose C is not concurrent lines. P loski proved that the Milnor number of an isolated singlar point of C is less than or equal to $(d-1)^2-{\lfloor}\frac{d}{2}{\rfloor}$. In this paper, we prove that the Milnor sum of C is also less than or equal to $(d-1)^2-{\lfloor}\frac{d}{2}{\rfloor}$ and the equality holds if and only if C is a P loski curve. Furthermore, we find a bound for the Milnor sum of projective plane curves in terms of GIT.

  • The primary objective of this study is to summarize results from previous experimental tests on laboratory specimens of RC/steel frames with masonry infills, in order to develop fragility functions that permit the estimation of damage in typical non-structural components of RC frame buildings, as a function of attained peak interstory drift. The secondary objective is to derive loss functions for such non-structural components, which provide information on the probability of experiencing a certain level of monetary loss when a given damage state is attained. Fragility curves and loss function developed in this study can be directly used within the FEMA P-58 framework for the seismic performance assessment of RC frame buildings with masonry infills.

These kinds structures used stainless steel sheets are commonly fabricated by using the gas welding. For fatigue design of gas welded joints such as fillet and plug type joint, it is necessary to obtain design information on stress distribution at the weldment as well as fatigue strength of gas welded joints. And also, the influence of the geometrical parameters of gas welded joints on stress distribution and fatigue strength must be evaluated. the ${\Delta}P-N_f$ curves were obtained by fatigue tests. Using these results, ${\Delta}P-N_f$ curves were rearranged in the ${\sigma}-N_f$ relation with the maximum stress at the edge of fillet welded joint.

  • Correlation between the tumorigenic dose (TD) and the maximum tolerated dose (MTD) was examined to search for the most relevant TD values related to the MTD. Using benzo(a)pyrene (B(a)P) 2-yr bioassay data, correlation coefficients between values of $TD_{1-}$50/ and the MTD were estimated from linearized or non-linearlized dose-response curves. The highest correlation coefficients (0.9966-1.0000) were obtained from T $D_{1-}$10/ in linearized dose-response curves while the highest (0.9966-1.0000) were estimated from $TD _{5-}$10/ in non-linearized dose-response eurves. These data suggest that TDs-lo were more closely related to the MTD than the ,$TD_{5-}$10/ in B(a)P 2-yr bioassay and that in lieu of the $TD_{50}$ they could be efficiently applicable to risk assessment and management.ent.

  • Experiments were carried out to measure the corrosion potential and current density variations in the polarization curves of polypropylene. In particular, the results were examined to identify those influences affecting the corrosion potential, such as temperature, pH, salt, and oxygen. The Tafel slope for the anodic dissolution was determined based on the polarization effect under various conditions. Furthermore, the optimum conditions for the most rapid transformation were establish based on a variety of conditions, including temperature, pH, corrosion rate, and resistance of corrosion potential. The second anodic current density peak and maximum passive current density were designated as the critical corrosion sensitivity(I(sub)r/I(sub)f). This I(sub)r/I(sub)f value was then used to measure the critical corrosion sensitivity of polypropylene. The potentiodynamic parameters of corrosion were obtained using a Tafel plot.

  • Let $C_d$ be the rational curve of degree d in $P_k ^3$ given parametrically by $x_0 = u^d, X_1 = u^{d - 1}t, X_2 = ut^{d - 1}, X_3 = t^d (d \geq 4)$. Then the defining ideal of $C_d$ can be minimally generated by d polynomials $F_1, F_2, \ldots, F_d$ such that $degF_1 = 2, degF_2 = \cdots = degF_d = d - 1$ and $C_d$ is a set-theoretically complete intersection on $F_2 = X_1^{d-1} - X_2X_0^{d-2}$ for every field k of characteristic p > 0. For the proofs we will use the notion of Grobner basis.

  • An approximation scheme utilizing Bezier curves is considered for solving time-delayed optimal control problems with terminal inequality constraints. First, the problem is transformed, using a $P{\acute{a}}de$ approximation, to one without a time-delayed argument. Terminal inequality constraints, if they exist, are converted to equality constraints. A computational method based on Bezier curves in the time domain is then proposed for solving the obtained non-delay optimal control problem. Numerical examples are introduced to verify the efficiency and accuracy of the proposed technique. The findings demonstrate that the proposed method is accurate and easy to implement.

  • Archimedes determined the center of gravity of a parabolic section as follows. For a parabolic section between a parabola and any chord AB on the parabola, let us denote by P the point on the parabola where the tangent is parallel to AB and by V the point where the line through P parallel to the axis of the parabola meets the chord AB. Then the center G of gravity of the section lies on PV called the axis of the parabolic section with $PG=\frac{3}{5}PV$. In this paper, we study strictly locally convex plane curves satisfying the above center of gravity properties. As a result, we prove that among strictly locally convex plane curves, those properties characterize parabolas.
