The phase-shifted version of the multichannel quantum-defect theory (MQDT) was reformulated by disentangling the interloper spectrum from the perturbed dense Rydberg series for a systems involving 2 closed and more than 1 open channel. The theory was applied successfully to Martins and Zimmermann's photoionization spectra of the Rydberg series Cu I $3d^9\;4s(^1D_2)\;nd^2G_{9/2}$ perturbed by the interloper, $3d^9\;4p^2\;^4F_{9/2}$, for which Cohen's 4 channel QDT had failed. The zero surface graphic of the perturbed Fano's asymmetry parameter q of the autoionization spectrum of dense Rydberg series by the interloper was determined by only two parameters for this system. It was used as a map to trace the transformation route of the 3 channel autoionization spectra to the 4 channel spectra when the channel coupling of the closed channels with a newly added open channel was turned on progressively.

We investigate the multiplicity of the nontrivial periodic solutions for a class of the system of the nonlinear suspension bridge equations with Dirichlet boundary condition and periodic condition. We show that the system has at least two nontrivial periodic solutions by the abstract version of the critical point theory on the manifold with boundary. We investigate the geometry of the sublevel sets of the corresponding functional of the system and the topology of the sublevel sets. Since the functional is strongly indefinite, we use the notion of the suitable version of the Palais-Smale condition.

This paper is concerned with the following Kirchhoff-Schrödinger-Poisson system $$\begin{cases} -(a+b{\displaystyle\smashmargin{2}\int\nolimits_{\mathbb{R}^3}}{\mid}{\nabla}u{\mid}^2dx){\Delta}u+V(x)u+{\mu}{\phi}u={\lambda}f(x){\mid}u{\mid}^{p-2}u+g(x){\mid}u{\mid}^{p-2}u,&{\text{ in }}{\mathbb{R}}^3,\\-{\Delta}{\phi}={\mu}{\mid}u{\mid}^2,&{\text{ in }}{\mathbb{R}}^3, \end{cases}$$ where a > 0, b, µ ≥ 0, p ∈ (1, 2), q ∈ [4, 6) and λ > 0 is a parameter. Under some suitable assumptions on V (x), f(x) and g(x), we prove that the above system has at least two different nontrivial solutions via the Ekeland's variational principle and the Mountain Pass Theorem in critical point theory. Some recent results from the literature are improved and extended.

This paper proposed the p-q-r coordinate system where the instantaneous active power p, and the two instantaneous reactive powers qq, qr were defined. The three power components are linearly independent, so the compensation for the two instantaneous reactive powers leads to control the two components of the current space vector. With the theory, the neutral current of a three-phase four-wire system can be eliminated by only compensating the instantaneous reactive power using no energy storge element.

The problem of disjunctive causal factors is generalized as follows. Suppose that there are no factors of the kind considered so far that need to be held fixed in background contexts. Nevertheless, it is still possible that within the background contexts, each disjunct of a disjunctive causal factor X v W confers a different probability on an effect factor in Question. So a problem arises of how we identify a single causally significant probability of the effect factor in the presence of the disjunctive causal factor, assuming that each disjunct of the disjunctive causal factor confers a different probability on the effect factor. In this paper, I first introduce an experiment in which disjunctive causal factors seem to pose a problem for the theory of probabilistic causation. Second, I show how Eells' solution to the problem of disjunctive causal factors meets the problem that arises in the experiment. Third, I examine Hitchcock's arguments against Eells' solution, arguing that Hitchcock misconstrues Eells' solution, and disregards the feature of the theory of probabilistic causation such that a factor is a causal factor for another factor relative to a population P of a population type Q.

Most of the low-voltage feeder are designed with approximately balanced and connected at the three phase four wire systems. However, Most of the power distribution systems' load which is composed of single or three phase are unbalanced by generating load unbalance. Unbalanced current will draw a highly unbalanced voltage. The power factor of an induction motor at rated operation is between 25 and 90%, depending on the size and speed of the motor. However, many induction motors operate below the nominal rating, resulting in poor power factor. This condition needs power factor improvement. Addition of power capacitor at the motor terminal may draw to stress due to voltage unbalance. This paper presents operation characteristics on steady states of a three-phase induction motor under unbalanced voltages with power capacitor. The existence of voltage unbalance have an effect on stress of power capacitor.

In this paper, we study the existence of positive solutions for singular impulsive differential equations with integral boundary conditions $$\{u^{{\prime}{\prime}}(t)+q(t)f(t,u(t),u^{\prime}(t))=0,\;t{\in}\mathbb{J}^{\prime},\\{\Delta}u(t_k)=I_k(u(t_k),u^{\prime}(t_k)),\;k=1,2,{\cdots},p,\\{\Delta}u^{\prime}(t_k)=-L_k(u(t_k),u^{\prime}(t_k)),\;k=1,2,{\cdots},p,\\u=(0)={\int}_{0}^{1}g(t)u(t)dt,\;u^{\prime}=0,$$) where the nonlinearity f(t, u, v) may be singular at v = 0. The proof is based on the theory of Leray-Schauder degree, together with a truncation technique. Some recent results in the literature are generalized and improved.

The main object of this paper is to present a transformation formula for a finite series involving $_3F_2$ and some identities associated with the binomial coefficients by making use of the theory of Legendre polynomials $P_{n}$(x) and some summation theorems for hypergeometric functions $_pF_q$. Some integral formulas are also considered.

Purpose: This study develops a health literacy instrument for Alzheimer's disease. Methods: Items were drawn from The Korean version of the Alzheimer's Disease Knowledge Scale (ADKS) and the Korean version of European Health Literacy Survey Questionnaire (HLS-EU-Q47 & HLS-EU-Q16). Content validity was tested by experts. To further refine the questionnaires and test their reliability and validity, data were collected from 324 older adults in the community. Results: Five significant items in the two subscales were derived from the factor analysis. The subscales were named access and understanding. Reliability was good at Cronbach's ⍺ .79, and validity through exploratory factor analysis was KMO .897, p<.001, which was found to be high and significant. Conclusion: The instrument demonstrated high reliability and validity. Therefore, this instrument can contribute to the evaluation of health literacy for Alzheimer's Disease in older adults and to any subsequent intervention, as well as to develop a theory for health literacy for Alzheimer's Disease.

The generalized noncommutative torus $T_{\rho}^d$ of rank m was defined in [2]. Assume that for the completely irrational noncommutative subtorus $A_{\rho}$ of rank m of $T_{\rho}^d$ there is no integer q > 1 such that $tr(K_0(A_{\rho}))=\frac{1}{q}{\cdot}tr(K_0(A_{\rho^{\prime}}))$ for $A_{\rho^{\prime}}$ a completely irrational noncommutative torus of rank m. All $C^*$-algebras ${\Gamma}({\eta})$ of sections of locally trivial $C^*$-algebra bundles ${\eta}$ over $M=\prod_{i=1}^{e}S^{2k_i}{\times}\prod_{i=1}^{s}S^{2n_i+1}$, $\prod_{i=1}^{s}\mathbb{PR}_{2n_i}$, or $\prod_{i=1}^{s}L_{k_i}(n_i)$ with fibres $T_{\rho}^d{\otimes}M_c(\mathbb{C})$ were constructed in [6, 7, 8]. We prove that ${\Gamma}({\eta}){\otimes}M_{p^{\infty}}$ is isomorphic to $C(M){\otimes}A_{\rho}{\otimes}M_{cd}(\mathbb{C}){\otimes}M_{p^{\infty}}$ if and only if the set of prime factors of cd is a subset of the set of prime factors of p, that $\mathcal{O}_{2u}{\otimes}{\Gamma}({\eta})$ is isomorphic to $\mathcal{O}_{2u}{\otimes}C(M){\otimes}A_{\rho}{\otimes}M_{cd}(\mathbb{C})$ if and only if cd and 2u - 1 are relatively prime, and that $\mathcal{O}_{\infty}{\otimes}{\Gamma}({\eta})$ is not isomorphic to $\mathcal{O}_{\infty}{\otimes}C(M){\otimes}A_{\rho}{\otimes}M_{cd}(\mathbb{C})$ if cd > 1 when no non-trivial matrix algebra can be ${\Gamma}({\eta})$.
