임상간호사의 성격특성이 직무스트레스와 조직유효성에 미치는 영향 (The effect of clinical nurse's personality on job stress and organizational effectiveness)

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of clinical nurse's locus of control of personality on job stress and job satisfaction and organizational commitment out of organizational effectiveness. Methods : The subjects were 463 staff nurses, who were employed in four university hospitals located in Seoul, Pusan and Kyungki-do. Data was collected from October 4th to October 14th in 2000 by a self-report questionnaire. Data was analyzed by the SAS for the general characteristics of the subjects, descriptive statistics, test for reliability and correlations. The effect of variables were tested using the Lisrel 8.12(a) program. Results : With the findings from this study, the internal-external locus of control affects job stress directly. Also it affects job satisfaction directly and via job stress indirectly. But it affects organizational commitment only via job stress and job satisfaction indirectly. Direct effect of locus of control to organizational commitment is not significant. Job stress affects job satisfaction and organizational commitment out of organizational effectiveness directly. Finally, job satisfaction was direct predictor of organizational commitment. Conclusion : Therefore, nursing managers ought to develop social learning programs to change the perception of individual personality and job stress management programs in order to improve organizational effectiveness.

상급종합병원 간호사가 지각한 긍정 간호조직문화와 조직 커뮤니케이션 만족이 직무열의에 미치는 영향 (The Impact of Perceived Positive Nursing Organizational Culture and Organizational Communication Satisfaction on Work Engagement among Nurses in Tertiary Hospitals)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to examine the relationships between positive nursing organizational culture, organizational communication satisfaction, and the level of work engagement among nurses working in tertiary hospitals, as well as to identify influencing factors on work engagement. Methods: This study used a descriptive research design. Data were collected from 184 general nurses working in four tertiary hospitals in Seoul using self-report questionnaires from March 13 to 30, 2023. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffé test, Pearson correlation, and hierarchical regression. Results: In the hierarchical regression analysis, the variables that significantly influenced work engagement in Model 1 were marital status (β=.26, p=.002), graduate or higher degree (β=.41, p<.001), more than 1 year and less than 3 years (β=.18, p=.030) and 3 years or more but less than 5 years of clinical experience in present hospital (β=.17, p=.023), and satisfaction (β=.27, p=.002) and moderate satisfaction with pay (β=.18, p=.033). In model 2, adding the subdomains of positive nursing organizational culture and organizational communication satisfaction to the Model 1, the variables that had a significant effect on work engagement were trust-based organizational relationships (β=.50, p<.001) and organizational communication satisfaction (β=.25, p=.005). Conclusion: The results suggest that education level, clinical experience, and satisfaction with pay should be considered to improve nurses' work engagement. In addition, it was identified that organizational relationship based on trust and organizational communication satisfaction are the main influencing factors for improving work engagement.

  • Objectives : The aim of this study was to examined the mediating role of empowerment in relations to job and organizational factors, and job satisfaction and organizational commitment in hospital organizations. Methods : Job variety, clarity, significance, and fitness were examined as the job factors, and security, reward justice, and organizational support as the organizational factors. Data were collected from 8 national university hospitals with 1,289 data points used for the final analysis. Results : All the job factors were found to positively influence empowerment, as were all the organizational factors, with the exception of reward justice . As hypothesized, empowerment had significant effects on both job satisfaction and organizational commitment, and was the most influential variable of all those examined. Conclusions : In the relations to job satisfaction, empowerment completely mediated job significance, security and organizational support, and partially mediated all other variables, with the exception of reward justice. In the relations to organizational commitment, empowerment completely mediated job variety and job fitness, and partially mediated all other variables, with the exception of reward justice. The theoretical and practical implications of these results have been discussed.

Organizational Justice, Job Satisfaction and Organizational Citizenship Behavior in Higher Education Institutions: A Research Proposition in Vietnam

  • Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) are place contributing to the intellectual advancement of the nation, quality human resource, and to a number of socio-economic improvements for society and organizations. Despite facilitators and staffs are the bare-bone of HEIs, there is a scarcity of research, both conceptual and empirical, focusing on their organizational citizenship behaviors (OCB). To attempt to fill this gap, this article develops a conceptual model of OCB under influencing of organizational justice and job satisfaction. The prospective respondents were chosen randomly from HEIs (public and private). Individuals have been employed at least one year and above will be the unit of analysis in which the experimental test of the proposed model will be conducted. The results suggest that organizational citizenship behavior is one of the most important factor influence the organizational performance. Furthermore, the performance of HEIs does not affect only the national human resources, but also impact on national economy. In this context, a conceptual framework is proposed to study the determinants of organizational citizenship behavior in the form of organizational justice and job satisfaction. Additionally, the ultimate benefits of OCB through perceived organizational justice with job satisfaction as mediator is enlightened. Finally, the authors discuss the managerial implications of their research.

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to examine the mediating effect of empowerment in the relationship of nurse managers' authentic leadership, with nurses' organizational commitment and job satisfaction. Methods: The participants in this study were 273 registered nurses working in five University hospitals located in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. The measurements included the Authentic Leadership Questionnaire, Condition of Work Effectiveness Questionnaire-II, Organizational Commitment Questionnaire and Korea-Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire. Data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, $Scheff{\acute{e}}$ test, Pearson correlation coefficients, simple and multiple regression techniques with the SPSS 18.0 program. Mediation analysis was performed according to the Baron and Kenny method and Sobel test. Results: There were significant correlations among authentic leadership, empowerment, organizational commitment and job satisfaction. Empowerment showed perfect mediating effects in the relationship between authentic leadership and organizational commitment. It had partial mediating effects in the relationship between authentic leadership and job satisfaction. Conclusion: In this study, nurse managers' authentic leadership had significant influences on nurses organizational commitment and job satisfaction via empowerment. Therefore, to enhance nurses' organizational commitment and job satisfaction, it is necessary to build effective strategies to enhance nurse manager's authentic leadership and to develop empowering education programs for nurses.

절차공정성이 조직몰입에 미치는 영향 : 임금만족 매개효과 (An Effect of Procedural Justice on Organizational Commitment : The Mediating Effect of Pay Satisfaction)

  • The purpose of this study is to verify the mediating effect of pay satisfaction on the relation between procedural justice and organizational commitment. A survey was conducted to examine the mediating effect of pay satisfaction on the responses of 529 employees. The study chose sex, age, education, position, job type and career as control variable, and the regression model which treated procedural justice as independent variable and organizational commitment as criterion variables were set. A pay satisfaction was supposed as mediating variable of these relationships. The data analysis was conducted by SAS 9.4ver and LISREL 8.80. The results of this study confirm underneath the followings. First, the relation of procedural justice and organizational commitment are significantly unique. Second, procedural justice are positively related to pay satisfaction. Third, pay satisfaction is significantly positively related to organizational commitment. Fourth, the pay satisfaction is partially mediated on the relationship between procedural justice and organizational commitment. This means that the pay satisfaction mediates the relation of procedural justice and organizational commitment. These results are different from the prior researches which had treated pay satisfaction as mediating variable of procedural justice and organizational commitment. Based on the findings of the study, this study presented managerial implications and suggestions for future studies.

치과위생사의 감정부조화와 직무만족도 간의 관계에서 소진의 매개효과와 조직적 지지의 조절효과 (Mediating effects of burnout and moderating effects of organizational support on the relationship between emotional dissonance and job satisfaction in dental hygienists)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the mediating effects of burnout and to identify the moderating effects of individual factors and organizational factors on the relationship between emotional dissonance and job satisfaction. Methods: This cross-sectional study included 270 dental hygienists working full-time at dental care facilities. The data on the socio-demographic characteristics, emotional dissonance, burnout, job satisfaction, and individual and organizational factors were collected. The individual (self-efficacy and ego resilience) and organizational (social support, organizational support and wage satisfaction) factors were considered as the moderating variable. For statistical analyses, t-test, one-way ANOVA and multiple linear regression were used. Results: Burnout was found to be a significant mediator on the relationship between emotional dissonance and job satisfaction(p<0.001). The variables moderating the relationship between emotional dissonance and burnout were identified as social support, organizational support and wage satisfaction (p<0.05), while the variables moderating the relationship between burnout and job satisfaction were wage satisfaction and ego resilience (p<0.05). Conclusions: To prevent the decrease in job satisfaction due to emotional dissonance, the management of dental care facilities should have a better understanding of burnout in dental hygienists, which requires individual and organizational efforts to be moderated. In addition, as organizational support has been identified as the factor mitigating the negative effects of emotional dissonance, it is highly necessary to adopt the preceptor system, improve communication systems and expand welfare policies of organizations.

미용서비스업 종사원의 직무스트레스가 직무만족 및 조직몰입에 미치는 영향 (The effect of job stress on job satisfaction and organizational commitment in the beauty service industry)

  • This study examines the effects of job stress on employees in the beauty service industry and the consequences on job satisfaction and organizational commitment. Based on the analysis of the job stress of beauty employees, the purpose of the study is to identify the beauty service industry's problems and present marketing implications. First, it was found that employees' job stress in the beauty service industry harmed job satisfaction. Beauty workers with a high job satisfaction increase the quality of service for customers, which can increase the customer's store loyalty, helping the beauty service industry's work performance, thereby further increasing job satisfaction by reducing job stress. Second, it was found that employees' job stress in the beauty service industry harmed organizational commitment. The higher the organizational commitment is, the more sense of belonging is created, which in turn can improve the work performance of the beauty industry workers and reduce the turnover rate. Therefore, it is necessary to find a way to increase organizational commitment by reducing beauty workers' job stress. Third, it was found that employees' job satisfaction in the beauty service industry had a positive effect on organizational commitment. These results show that the higher the job satisfaction related to the beauty worker's current job satisfaction, current salary satisfaction, satisfaction with the boss, satisfaction with the work environment, and passion for the job, the higher the organizational commitment.

간호사의 학습 관련 자기주도성과 직무만족 및 조직몰입과의 관계 (A Study on the Relationship of Self-directed Learning with Job Satisfaction and Organizational Commitment of Nurses)

  • Purpose: This study was to identify of the relationship of self-directed learning with job satisfaction and organizational commitment of nurses. Method: The subjects were 247 nurses who were working for the 5 of hospitals in Seoul, Daejeon and Kyong Ki. This study was conducted from Sep to Dec 2006. The data was collected by questionnaires and were analyzed using descriptive statistics, pearson correlation coefficients. Result: The self-directed learning was influenced significantly by the last school career, married state and job career. The job satisfaction was influenced significantly by job career. The organizational commitment was influenced significantly by age and job career. The self-directed learning is related with job satisfaction and organizational commitment of nurses. Conclusion: The findings indicated that the self-directed learning of nurses is important factor for improving job satisfaction and organizational commitment. Therefore it may be necessary further to develop the self-directed learning training program for efficiently nurse's education.

판매원의 임파워먼트가 직무만족과 조직몰입 및 서비스품질에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of empowerment on job satisfaction, organizational commitment and Service Quality)

  • The purposes of this study were to investigate the impacts of empowerment, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment on service quality. So, this research attempted to test the hypothesized relationships between service quality and its determinants such as job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and customer orientation. To measure these hypotheses, total 200 questionnaires were handed out and 185 were collected. Finally 163 questionnaires were used for the analysis, while 22 were found to be invalid. The frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis, and multiple regression were conducted after coding and cleaning by SPSS 18.0 The result of this study are as follow. As a result of multiple regression, it shows that empowerment have an effect on job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and service quality. And it shows that job satisfaction and organizational commitment have an effect on service quality.
