  • This paper develops a mathematical model which searches an optimum lot size of a press line, and applies this model to the scheduling of the press line. This mathematical model is not a widely studied cost model but a model which considers the utilization of the press line under a lean production system. In this paper, the optimum lot size is a minimum lot size which does not exceed the total work time of the press line. A production volume and the priority of the production in the press line are adjusted using this optimum lot size. A mathematical model developed in this paper will allow determining the optimum lot size easily in case of variable production environments such as an introduction of a new product and a fluctuation of production volume of each item. Therefore, our model will make a better scheduling of the press line and will enhance the utilization of it.

  • Optimum lot size calculation for real world manufacturing environment has been focused since last few decades. Several extensions have been made to the basic economic order and production order quantity models to realize the possible practical situations in industry. However, focus on work-in-process inventory has been ignored relatively. This paper provides a comprehensive review of the models developed for group technology based manufacturing environment focusing on work-in-process inventory. Models have been extended from a perfect manufacturing conditions to an imperfect manufacturing situation considering rework, rejection and inspection. Optimum lot size has been evaluated using a simple algebraic optimization approach. Significant parameters are highlighted using sensitivity analysis for the developed models. Numerical example is used to illustrate the utilization of such models in day-to-day production setups and the impact of significant factors' variation on total cost and optimum lot size.

  • In IMT-2000 systems, the outer loop dynamically adjusts the target SIR so that adequate performance in terms of the frame error rate(FER) and the true quality measure is achieved. This paper utilizes an analytic model lot outer loop power control(OLPC) adjusting the target SIR in IMT-2000. The analytic model is based on the discrete-time Markov chain as voice traffic SIR. It is described that the model can be used to find the optimum step size in voice traffic for fast fading environments. The optimum step size influences the performance of OLPC: As the step size decreases, the average target SIR increases and average FER decreases.

  • Earth has been used as a building material not only our country but also many foreign countries in the world. In foreign countries, we can often find the high-storied earthen houses which have been maintained for over several hundred years, which means the fact that earth differs in durability according to the methods of utilizing earth. So, the purpose of this study is to progress the fundamental research for utilizing earth as a wall material. Also, the another purpose of this study is to utilize the optimum micro-filler effect which adjusts the grain size of earth and the lime composite which promotes chemical combining power, and so examine whether earth material ensures its high compressive strength. This study applied both of rammed earth method and pour earth method among earth architecture methods. This study investigated compressive strength, slump, and air content according to unit binder weight. On the basis of such experimental results, this study derived the following conclusions. 1) Optimum micro-filler mixtures reduce a lot of fine particles contained in earth. If optimum micro-filler mixtures are used as aggregates, they develop lower W/B and relatively higher strength than general earth. 2) In this study, which uses optimum micro-filler earth mixtures and lime composite, rammed earth method develops 29MPa and pour earth method develops 28MPa in 28 days compressive strength. Such strengths can be utilized in building walls.

  • In this paper accelerated life testing is incorporated in quality control technique of acceptance sampling plan to induce early failures in high reliability products.Stress under accelerated condition can be applied in constant-stress, step-stress and progressive-stress or combination of such loadings. A ramp-stress results when stress is increased linearly (from zero) with time. In this paper optimum failure-censored ramp-stress accelerated life test sampling plan for log-logistic distribution has been formulated with cost considerations. The log-logistic distribution has been found appropriate for insulating materials. The optimal plans consist in finding optimum sample size, sample proportion allocated to each stress, and stress rate factor such that producer's and consumer's interests are safeguarded. Variance optimality criterion is used when expected cost per lot is not taken into consideration, and bilevel programming approach is used in cost optimization problems. The methods developed have been illustrated using some numerical examples, and sensitivity analyses carried out in the context of ramp-stress ALTSP based on variable SSP for proportion nonconforming.

  • A lot of researches about dye-sensitized solar cell (DSC) are recently being conducted. Because DSC has several advantages to pass the limits of silicon solar cells such as a low manufacturing expense, a simple manufacturing process and its transparency. But most researches on DSC are still conducted about the unit cell and laboratory-centered. That is, present researches on DSC are not practical. Therefore, researches about large area cells and modules have to be prerequisites for DSC to have the practicality. Characteristics of large area DSC are so different from those of small area DSC in aspect of fill factor and efficiency. In this study, we made an experiment on finding suitable size of DSC that has the most effective power according to the variation of active area. In detail, the experiment was conducted about the optimum ratio of length to width and we introduced the ratio of active area to non-active area to find the active area which has the best output. Because small DSC doesn‘t have the best output in comparison with total area of cell although the smaller DSC has the better efficiency. As a result, we achieved the optimum ratio of length to width of 8:3 and active area of $8cm^2$ as the optimum size for upscaling DSC.

  • Nowadays, circulation industry is taking charge of important role in improvement of competitive power on the manufacturing industry and public welfare increase of consumer, price stabilization, employment creation and so on. A lot of research have been progressing for formation of total circulation complex, but decision making for selection of location on some facility is only calculated the optimum value when correct data values are inserted. However, a lot of decision making is accomplished in situation that have little knowledge of objective and constraints and as real world is also evaluated inclusive of analyst's subjectivity about variable, indefinite and fuzzy part, so it is decreasing a reliability on evaluation result and complicating objective evaluation on various effect and negative impact. Accordingly, from under like this situation, this study is to develop location decision model of circulation complex using fuzzy theory from the intention for the most reasonable decision making in fuzzy situation based on decision making problem on conventional location and size decision that did to be satisfactory constraints necessarily.

  • In the post-Cold War era, acquisition technique of high-resolution satellite imagery (HRSI) has begun to commercialize. IKONOS-2 satellite imaging data is supplied for the first time in the 21st century. Many researchers testified mapping possibility of the HRSI data instead of aerial photography. It is easy to renew and automate a topographical map because HRSI not only can be more taken widely and periodically than aerial photography, but also can be directly supplied as digital image. In this study matching size of IKONOS Geo-level stereo image is presented lot production of digital elevation model (DEM). We applied area based matching method using correlation coefficient of pixel brightness value between the two images. After matching line (where "matching line" implies straight line that is approximated to complex non-linear epipolar geometry) is established by exterior orientation parameters (EOPs) to minimize search area, the matching is tarried out based on this line. The experiment on matching size is performed according to land cover property, which is divided off into four areas (water, urban land, forest land and agricultural land). In each of the test areas, window size for the highest correlation coefficient is selected as propel size for matching. As the results of experiment, the proper size was selected as $123{\times}123$ pixels window, $13{\times}13$ pixels window, $129{\times}129$ pixels window and $81{\times}81$ pixels window in the water area, urban land, forest land and agricultural land, respectively. Of course, determination of the matching size by the correlation coefficient may be not absolute appraisal method. Optimum matching size using the geometric accuracy therefore, will be presented by the further work.

  • The purpose of this study was to set and analyze the feasibility and survey of the Hanok(The traditional Korean style house) housing complex project within Seoul metropolitan area. The results of this study were as follows. First of all, a survey was carried out to find out the optimum Hanok style. The survey showed that many people chose a frond and back yard garden as a merit of Hanok and pointed out the weak crime prevention as a weakness of Hanok. The optimum size for a Hanok was from $264m^2$ to $330m^2$ and living space was from $100m^2$ to $132m^2$. And people considered about 120% of what the apartment sells for as the reasonable price of a Hanok. Based on the survey, this study planned a Hanok housing complex on a lot that has competitive price and analysed the feasibility of the housing plan. The result was that Hanok's construction cost per $3.3m^2$ to be a marketable product has to be below about 6 million Won. As a result, the construction cost-saving through the advanced technology and planning to meet the changing customers' needs are needed to vitalize Hanok's supply.
