We introduce a spectral reconstruction method to enhance the spectral resolution in a static modulated Fourier-transform spectrometer. The optical-path difference and the interferogram in the focal plane, as well as the relationship of the interferogram and the spectrum, are discussed. Additionally, for better spectral reconstruction, applications of phase-error correction and apodization are considered. As a result, the transfer function of the spectrometer is calculated, and then the spectrum is reconstructed based on the relationship between the transfer function and the interferogram. The spectrometer comprises a modified Sagnac interferometer. The spectral reconstruction is conducted with a source with central wave number of 6,451 cm-1 and spectral width of 337 cm-1. In a conventional Fourier-transform method the best spectral resolution is 27 cm-1, but by means of the spectral reconstruction method the spectral resolution improved to 8.7 cm-1, without changing the interferometric structure. Compared to a conventional Fourier-transform method, the spectral width in the reconstructed spectrum is narrower by 20 cm-1, and closer to the reference spectrum. The proposed method allows high performance for static modulated Fourier-transform spectrometers.
In this paper, a three-key triple data encryption algorithm (TDEA) of a digital cryptosystem based on phase-shifting interferometry is proposed. The encryption for plaintext and the decryption for the ciphertext of a complex digital hologram are performed by three independent keys called a wavelength key k1(λ), a reference distance key k2(dr) and a holographic encryption key k3(x, y), which are represented in the reference beam path of phase-shifting interferometry. The results of numerical simulations show that the minimum wavelength spacing between the neighboring independent wavelength keys is about δλ = 0.007 nm, and the minimum distance between the neighboring reference distance keys is about δdr = 50 nm. For the proposed three-key TDEA, choosing the deviation of the key k1(λ) as δλ = 0.4 nm and the deviation of the key k2(dr) as δdr = 500 nm allows the number of independent keys k1(λ) and k2(dr) to be calculated as N(k1) = 80 for a range of 1,530-1,562 nm and N(dr) = 20,000 for a range of 35-45 mm, respectively. The proposed method provides the feasibility of independent keys with many degrees of freedom, and then these flexible independent keys can provide the cryptosystem with very high security.
The use of stimulated emission depletion (STED) microscopy has significantly improved resolution beyond the limits imposed by diffraction; Furthermore, STED microscopy adopts a 4Pi-geometry to achieve an isotropic improvement in resolution. In isoSTED microscopy, a polarizing beam splitter and retarders are used in a 4Pi cavity to split beams of identical power, generating constructive and destructive interference for lateral and axial resolution improvements, respectively. The precise alignment of the retarders is crucial for optimizing the performance of isoSTED microscopy, because this orientation affects the quality of the depletion focus, necessitating zero intensity at the center. Incomplete destructive interference can lead to unwanted fluorescence inhibition, resulting in degraded resolution and contrast. However, measuring the intensity and polarization state in each optical path of the 4Pi cavity is complex and requires additional devices such as a power meter. Here, we propose a simple and accurate alignment method for the 4Pi cavity in isoSTED microscopy. Our approach demonstrates the equal allocation of power between upper and lower beam paths and achieves complete destructive interference using a polarizing beam displacer and a single CCD camera positioned outside the 4Pi cavity.

An Optical Network-on-Chip(ONoC) based on silicon photonics is one of promising technology for next generation exascale computing architectures. Recent active researches on ONoC focus on improving bandwidth further and avoiding path collisions by using wavelength division multiplexing (WDM). However, the number of wavelengths used for the WDM increases linearly as the number of Processing Element (PE) increases in existing ONoCs which adopt centralized routing architecture. The problem will also arises growing cost of optical devices such as light switches and light sources and limits the scalability of ONoC due to the sinal loss caused by interference of distinct light sources. In this paper, we proposes a distributed routing architecture for ONoC which is based on 2D-mesh structure using WDM technique and present a method that minimize the required number of wavelengths exploiting the connectivity of communication. In comparison with existing centralized routing architectures, results show reduction by 56% of the number of wavelengths and 21% of the number of optical switches in $8{\times}8$ networks.
In this paper, we propose the development of a small $360^{\circ}$ oral scanner lens module. The proposed small $360^{\circ}$ oral scanner lens module consists of a small $360^{\circ}$ high resolution(4MegaPixel) lens optical system, a 15mm image sensor unit, and a small $360^{\circ}$ mouth scanner lens external shape. A small $360^{\circ}$ high resolution lens optical system produces a total of nine lenses, the outer diameter of the lens not less than 15mm for use by children through the ages of adulthood. Light drawn by a small $360^{\circ}$ high resolution lens optical system is $90^{\circ}$ flexion so that image images are delivered to image sensors. The 15mm image sensor unit sends the converted value to the ISP(Image Signal Processor) of the embedded board after an image array through the column and the row address of the image sensor. The small $360^{\circ}$ mouth scanner lens outer shape was designed to fix the race to the developed lens. Results from authorized testing agencies to assess the performance of proposed small $360^{\circ}$ oral scanner lens modules, The optical resolving power of $360^{\circ}$ lens was more than 30% at 150 cycles/mm, $360^{\circ}$ lens angle was $360^{\circ}$ in vertical direction, $42^{\circ}{\sim}85^{\circ}$ in vertical direction, and lens distortion rate was 5% or less. It produced the same result as the world's highest level.
The heat flow characteristics of a high-power optical semiconductor source have been analyzed using a 3D CFD commercial tool, and the thermal resistance values for each of the layers revealed the places for thermal bottlenecks to be improved. As the heat source of a LD (Laser Diode) has a small volume and a narrow surface, the effective thermal cross-sectional area near it is also quite small. It was possible to expand the cross-sectional area effectively by using graphene layers on the TIM (Thermal Interface Material) layers of a LD chip. The effective values of heat resistance for the layers are compared to confirm the improvement effect of the graphene layers before and after, which can be considered to expand the thermal cross section of the heat transfer path.

Light management technology is very important for thin film solar cells, which can reduce optical reflection from the surface of thin film solar cells or enhance optical path, increasing the absorption of the incident solar light. Using proper light trapping structures in hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si:H) solar cells, the thickness of absorber layers can be reduced. Instead, the internal electric field in the absorber can be strengthened, which helps to collect photon generated carriers very effectively and to reduce light-induced loss under long-term light exposure. In this work, we introduced a chemical etching technology to make honey-comb textures on glass substrates and analyzed the optical properties for the textured surface such as transmission, reflection and scattering effects. Using ray optics and finite difference time domain method (FDTD) we represented the behaviors of light waves near the etched surfaces of the glass substrates and discussed to obtain haze parameters for the different honey-comb structures. The simulation results showed that high haze values were maintained up to the long wavelength range over 700 nm, and with the proper design of the honey-comb structure, reflection or transmission of the glass substrates can be enhanced, which will be very useful for the multi-junction (tandem or triple junction) thin film a-Si:H solar cells.

Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (NIRS) was investigated aiming at the identification of falsified drugs. The identification is based on comparison of the NIR spectrum of a sample with a typical spectra of an authentic drug using multivariate modelling and classification algorithms (PCA/SIMCA). Two spectrophotometers (Brimrose - Luminar 2000 and 2030), based on acoustic-optical filter (AOTF) technology, sharing the same controlling computer, software (Brimrose - Snap 2.03) and the data acquisition electronics, were employed. The Luminar 2000 scans the range 850 1800 nm and was employed for transmitance/absorbance measurements of liquids with a transflectance optical bundle probe with total optical path of 5 mm and a circular area of 0.5 $\textrm{cm}^2$. Model 2030 scans the rage 1100 2400 nm and was employed for reflectance measurement of solids drugs. 300 spectra, acquired in about 20 s, were averaged for each sample. Chemometric treatment of the spectral data, modelling and classification were performed by using the Unscrambler 7.5 software (CAMO Norway). This package provides the Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and SIMCA algorithms, used for modelling and classification, respectively. Initially, NIRS was evaluated for spectrum acquisition of various drugs, selected in order to accomplish the diversity of physico-chemical characteristics found among commercial products. Parameters which could affect the spectra of a given drug (especially if presented as solid tablets) were investigated and the results showed that the first derivative can minimize spectral changes associated with tablet geometry, physical differences in their faces and position in relation to the probe beam. The effect of ambient humidity and temperature were also investigated. The first factor needs to be controlled for model construction because the ambient humidity can cause spectral alterations that should cause the wrong classification of a real drug if the factor is not considered by the model.

In this paper, we numerically investigated the optimum pump light power resulting best compensation of pulse distortion due to both chromatic dispersion and self phase modulation (SPM) in long-haul 3×40 Gbps wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) systems. We used mid-span spectral inversion (MSSI) method with path-averaged intensity approximation (PAIA) as compensation approach, which have highly nonlinear dispersion shifted fiber (HNL-DSF) as nonlinear medium of optical phase conjugator (OPC) in the mid-way of total transmission line. We confirmed that HNL-DSF is an useful nonlinear medium in OPC for wideband WDM transmission, and in order to achieve the excellent compensation the pump light power is selected to equal the conjugated light power into the latter half fiber section with the input light power of WDM channel depending on total transmission length. Also we confirmed that compensation degree of WDM channel with small conversion efficiency is improved by using pump light power increasing power conversion ratio upper than 1.

An optical payload needs to be validated its image performance after launched into orbit. The image performance was validated by observing star because ground site contains uncertainties caused by atmosphere, time of the year, and weather. Time Delayed and Integration(TDI) technique, which is mostly used to observe the ground, is going to be used to observe the selected stars. A satellite attitude scenario was also developed to observe the selected stars. The scenario is created to enable TDI to operate. Rotation angles of optical payload are determined in order for the selected stars to properly be passed at a desired angular velocity about rotation axis. The result of this research can be utilized to validate the quality of optical payload of a satellite in orbit. In addition, a quaternion for pointing selected stars is calculated minimizing the path from a given arbitrary attitude of satellite.
