A primary study of Rail Station Selection and Train Operation Management Plan with Transportation Demand (철도수송수요를 고려한 정차역 선정과 열차운행방안 -경부선 서울~조치원구간을 중심으로-)

  • The purposes of this primary study are the selection of rail station and train operation management techniques for express-rail operation service at the convectional railway electrification. For these analyses, we used the KNR statistics and KROIS data of rail stations and train users by rail line. Therefore, we chose the important stations for express-rail operation of Kyongbu conventional rail line (esp. Seoul-Jochiwon section) through the rail transportation demand. and then, suggested primary operational management plan thorough the effects analyses of decreasing total travel time and increasing transportation demand by train speed-up. This study has some bounds and limits for proceeding, as it does, we excluded as followings: the conditionals of fate system, headways and train diagram, economic/financial analysis and technological assessment, and other railway technological infrastructures and a certain railcar specification, etc. . We propose to enlarge this study into a feasibility study of express or skip-stop operation service and compatible vehicle system decision considering with the best possible investment rail line, furthermore. in front of Kyongbu (Seoul-Busan) high-speed rail open in 2004, we have to try to progress the efficiencies of railway operation applying various train operation management plan.

  • The Korean railway system is a mass transit system consisting of a variety of train types such as common trains, high-speed train (KTX) and Metropolitan Express Railway (EMU). Its operation is based on the official timetable and it provides us with safe, accurate, quick and comfortable service. The objective of this study is to propose and prove more practical method for estimating line capacity by considering high-speeding and diversification of trains. In particular, the focus of this study is to reduce the discrepancy between the result of the theoretical line capacity estimation and the real line capacity of the operating agency of the Korean railway. In order to achieve the object, this study introduces a new railway capacity notion by considering TPS of line alignment, the operation type, train control and signaling system, etc. Through a practical schedule diagram exemplification, the result of the proposed method is verified as well.

  • This study was performed to analyze the operation system of transfer crane to improve the reality of yard operation rules in container terminal and present the applicable method of operation rules to apply the operation priority. And we derived the procedure to estimate the maximum number of waiting truck based on the waiting of truck and the occupancy of driving lane in yard, and analyzed the constraint state of space. To solve the space constraint, we provided a multi-job principle to define the space resource and described the solution and sequence diagram for the principle.

  • This paper presents the various application programs for the Distribution Automation System (DAS) of the Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO)'s distribution system. These programs are developed to allow for optimal operation in the areas of feeder automation, relay coordination, loss minimization and so on. They are single line diagram auto creation programs for the feeder, service restoration program, protection coordination program, data error detection program, and optimal network reconfiguration program. The details of these programs are presented for validity and effectiveness.

  • The current electrical safety plan developed for the national electricity system has been playing an important role in handling a variety of electrical accidents. However, it can be more effective to prevent or reduce those accidents if a preventive electrical safety plan is available. In this paper, an approach to developing the safety plan is described. We first discuss the contents that should be included in the plan. Noting that an effective plan requires the system level consideration of all the factors affecting the safety issues, an operation concept document (OCD) is considered. The OCD can allow us to understand the behavior of the safety system based on the operation environment, the system functions, the performance requirements, all at the system level of the safety system. Thus, the OCD can be useful in developing the safety plan. A detailed description then follows on how the OCD is developed for the electrical safety system under study. Finally, we discuss how the developed OCD can be used in deriving the preventive electrical safety plan.

On Crossing Changes for Surface-Knots

  • In this paper, we discuss the crossing change operation along exchangeable double curves of a surface-knot diagram. We show that under certain condition, a finite sequence of Roseman moves preserves the property of those exchangeable double curves. As an application for this result, we also define a numerical invariant for a set of surface-knots called du-exchangeable set.

  • By using the state plane approach, the steady state analysis and design of a half bridge parallel-series (LLC-type) resonant converter (HBPSRC) operating in the continous conduction made is presented. The state-plane diagram representation of the converter response gives good insight into the converter operation. Based on this analysis, a set of steady state characteristic waves for HBPSRC is presented. A simple design procedure is given and design example for a 100watts, 30KHz HBPSRC is presented for illustrative purposes.

  • The Modeling analysis and design of a high frequency LC-type series and LLCC-type parallel resonant converter oprating in the continous conduction is presented. The state-plane diagram representation of the converter response gives and good insight into the converter operation. A set of characterisric frequency are plotted which design parameters can be obtained.

  • This paper presents general concept of DC switch gear(DCSWGR). Normally, DCSWGR consist of Digital protection unit(DPU), High Speed Circuit Breaker(HSCB), Disconnect Switch (DS), Programmable Logic Control(PLC), Auxiliary Relays and etc. Most of the components has its special characteristics and their interface between each others are various and complex. In this paper every constituent general design are preceded and interface between each component are examined. And also DCSWGR operation logic with logical diagram including interlock signal are introduced.

  • Part of the channel in L-shaped tunnel field-effect transistor (LTFET) is very thin and suffers from quantum confinement effect. Role of quantum confinement effect on band-to-band-tunneling (BTBT) of LTFET was investigated using numerical simulation and band diagram analysis. It was found that quantum confinement effect significantly affects the BTBT mechanism of LTFET devices.
