For battery-powered device applications, which grow rapidly in the electronic market today, low-power becomes one of the most important design issues of CMOS VLSI circuits. A multi-VDD system, which uses more than one power-supply voltage in the same system, is an effective way to reduce the power consumption without degrading operating speed. However, in the multi-VDD system, level converters should be inserted to prevent a large static current flow for the low-to-high conversion. The insertion of the level converters induces the overheads of power consumption, delay, and area. In this paper, we propose a new level converter which can provide the level up/down conversions for the various input and output voltages. Since the proposed level converter uses only one power-supply voltage, it has an advantage of reducing the complexity in physical design. In addition, the proposed level converter provides lower power and higher speed, compared to existing level converters.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is one of the main enablers for situation awareness needed in accomplishing smart cities. IoT devices, especially for monitoring purposes, have stringent timing requirements which may not be met by cloud computing. This deficiency of cloud computing can be overcome by fog computing for which fog nodes are placed close to IoT devices. Because of low capabilities of fog nodes compared to cloud data centers, fog nodes may not be deployed with all the services required by IoT devices. Thus, in this article, we focus on the issue of fog service placement and present the recent research trends in this issue. Most of the literature on fog service placement deals with determining an appropriate fog node satisfying the various requirements like delay from the perspective of one or more service requests. In this article, we aim to effectively place fog services in accordance with the pre-obtained service demands, which may have been collected during the prior time interval, instead of on-demand service placement for one or more service requests. The concept of the logical fog network is newly presented for the sake of the scalability of fog service placement in a large-scale smart city. The logical fog network is formed in a tree topology rooted at the cloud data center. Based on the logical fog network, a service placement approach is proposed so that services can be placed on fog nodes in a resource-effective way.

본 연구는 기존 정주기식 신호제어로 인하여 비효율적으로 운영되고 있는 3지 교차로의 문제점을 보완하는 방안으로써 반감응 신호제어를 기본으로 하고 보행자작동신호기를 사용하는 신호운영방식의 효율성을 분석하였다. 반감응 신호제어의 경우 부도로에 교통량이 적을 때 주도로의 교통소통을 원활히 하여 교차로 내 지체를 감소시킬 수 있으며, 보행자작동신호기는 보행자가 없음에도 불구하고 보행자 신호를 작동시켜 발생하는 불필요한 대기시간을 줄일 수 있는 장점을 가지고 있다. 위의 두 가지의 장점을 모았을 경우 기존의 정주기식 신호제어와 반감응식 신호제어에 비하여 얼마나 효과가 있는지 미시적 시뮬레이션 프로그램인 VISSIM을 사용하여 정량화된 차량당 평균지체 감소의 정도를 분석하고자 하였다. 본 연구는 인천의 1개 3지 교차로를 대상으로 현장조사를 실시하였고 각각의 신호제어 방식에 따라서 보행자 교통량을 변화시켜 민감도 분석을 실시하였다. 시나리오 별 분석을 통하여 차량당 평균지체시간을 비교한 결과, 대상교차로는 정주기식 신호제어에 비하여 보행자작동신호기를 이용한 신호제어방식이 최소 3.7초(10%), 최대 6초(16%)의 감소효과를 나타내었으며 반감응식 신호제어와의 비교에서는 보행자교통량이 측정교통량의 20% 이하일때보다 효율적인 것으로 나타났다.

VoD(Video on Demand)나 IP 텔레폰, 화상채팅과 같은 멀티미디어 서비스는 일정한 대역폭의 자원을 요구하고 지터, 전송 지연에 매우 민감한 데이터이다. 멀티미디어 서비스의 QoS 보장과 TCP와 형평성을 위하여 TFRC, RAP, TLFC 와 같은 흐름제어 기법이 사용되고 있다. 하지만 흐름제어 기법에서 네트워크 판단을 위해서 사용하고 있는 RTT값은 서버와 클라이언트 사이의 왕복 전송 지연시간을 측정한 값으로써 클라이언트에서 서버로 전송되는 피드백 정보의 전송 지연시간에 따라서 오차가 발생한다. 본 논문에서는 서버에서 클라이언트로 단방향으로 데이터가 전송되는 특징을 가진 스트리밍 서비스를 위하여 RTP/RTCP를 이용한 단방향 전송 지연 측정을 제안한다.

In Electro-Luminescence Display making process, it is necessary to do high molecule patterning effectively. Recently, one of the most effective way is the patterning method using Ink-Jet head controller. To maximize the effect, it is needed to control each channel of Ink-Jet head and develop that controller. Thus, we implement the Ink-Jet Head Controller which can control the parameters of 128 fire pulses independently, improve the accuracy of patterns more than 100 times previous ones, and apply random patterns.

Various technologies for the reduction of atmospheric pollution have been developed. One of which is to inject fine-water droplets directly on the flame. This way decreases the formation of thermal NOx due to the temperature drop during evaporation of droplets. There is another effect of reducing prompt NOx, which is resulted from delay of response time and the flow of droplets. In this experiment, it has been investigated the effects of changes of water droplets size and flow rate on temperature and formations of NOx at the counterflow diffusion flame.

One objective in developing the next generation of wireless communication systems is to increase data rates and reliability. A promising way to achieve this is to combine multiple-input and multiple-output signal processing with a space-time coding scheme, which offers higher coding and diversity gains and improves the spectrum efficiency and reliability of a wireless communication system. It is noted, however, that time delay differences and phase differences among different channels increase symbol interference and degrade system performance. In this letter, we investigate phase differences and their effects on multiple-input and multiple-output systems, and propose a compensation algorithm for the Rayleigh fading model to minimize their effects.

Industrialization and urbanization occurred-traffic delay, traffic accident and parking problem etc.-variety of transportation problems. Parking problem is one of the transportation problem then transportation engineers would get involved in trying to solve parking problem. A way to overcome a variety of parking problems needs preliminary data for conditions of parking but it lacks the preliminary data to do so. Thus this study analyzed a characteristic of a parking through a field survey for parking in Daegu Metropolitan City. This study analyzed parking characteristic of parking operation method. This study result reveals difference between a toll parking and a no charge parking characteristic. Thus a close examination for a toll parking characteristic and a no charge parking characteristic is a prerequisite for a rational parking policy.

IEEE 802.16 WirelessMAN aiming to broadband wireless access (BWA) is evolving to 4G mobile communication system through the standardization of IEEE 802.16e supporting mobility on existing fixed WirelessMAN system. It is necessary for hand-over to provide seamless data service while MS (Mobile Station) moves to another BS (Base Station). Because the performance of handover affects packet loss or delay of any communications, it must consider low latency handover mechanism in packet based network. In this paper, we describes handover scheme of IEEE 802.16e with the cell edge interference problem and shows the way to solve the problem in frequency reuse one deployment. Our scheme reduces the handover latency and packet loss probability.

본 논문은 향후에 구축될 BcN망을 통해 제공될 멀티미디어 서비스를 위한 QoS를 보장하기 위해 서비스를 분류하고 풀질기준과 측정방법을 분석한다. 현재의 서비스 및 향후 BcN에서 제공될 서비스를 분류하였고, 종단간 품질기준을 살펴보고, 종단간 품질측정을 위한 측정방안으로서 호성공률, 패킷손실율, 단방향지연, 지터, R-값 등의 측정방법을 소개하였다.
