Development of Fuzzy Travel Time Estimator for Interrupted Traffic Flow (단속류 퍼지 통행시간 추정기의 개발)

  • Two fuzzy travel time estimators for interrupted traffic flow were developed based on field survey data and simulation data 7hat is collected from DETSIM, which is microscopic traffic simulation model that car-following theory is applied. One is FETTOS(Fuzzy Estimator of Travel Time using Occupancy and Spot speed) and the other is FETTOS(Fuzzy Estimator of Travel Speed using Volume and Occupancy). Fuzzy logic controller was applied to the estimators to deal with non-linear relationship between traffic variables and travel time. According to results of simulation and field survey. estimation of travel time can be modeled by using percent occupancy better than any other traffic variables. Detector location from storyline and signal timing Plan of intersection are affected to estimate travel time. With a few findings, the estimator was constructed and its performance was tested for observed travel time data and simulated data. FETTOS which needs signal timing plan and detector location estimates travel time with accurate better than FETSVO does. However. FETSVO has excellent transferability because the estimator needs set of input data only; volume and time mean speed.

  • Currently, the demand for vehicles from one family is increasing in many countries at home and abroad, reducing the number of people on the vehicle and increasing the number of vehicles on the road. The multi-passenger lane system, which is available to solve the problem of traffic congestion, is being implemented. The system allows police to monitor fast-moving vehicles with their own eyes to crack down on illegal vehicles, which is less accurate and accompanied by the risk of accidents. To address these problems, applying deep learning object recognition techniques using images from road sites will solve the aforementioned problems. Therefore, in this paper, we compare and analyze the performance of existing deep learning models, select a deep learning model that can identify real-time vehicle occupants through video, and propose a vehicle occupancy detection algorithm that complements the object-ident model's problems.

  • As the world becomes an aging society due to a decrease in the birth rate and an increase in life expectancy, a system for health management of the elderly population is needed. Among them, various studies on occupancy and activity types are being conducted for smart home care services for indoor health management. In this paper, we propose a random forest model that classifies activity type as well as occupancy status through indoor temperature and humidity, CO2, fine dust values and UWB radar positioning for smart home care service. The experiment measures indoor environment and occupant positioning data at 2-second intervals using three sensors that measure indoor temperature and humidity, CO2, and fine dust and two UWB radars. The measured data is divided into 80% training set data and 20% test set data after correcting outliers and missing values, and the random forest model is applied to evaluate the list of important variables, accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity.

  • This study aims to improve the Evacuation Performance o( the I)inc()unto-store in underground that is rapidly new shopping store in Korea. In this paper, The architectural properties of the floor plan and section was reviewed with egress focus, occupant load density of the Discount-store was surveyed and the procedure and method of performance based egress design for this occupancy was analysed with SIMULEX model and calculation method. As a result of modeling, more longer available safe egress time (ASET) is expected than required safe egress time (RSET)in underground discount-store. In order to improve the Evacuation Performance for this type occupancy, egress capacity including escape stair, aisle width, escape door is calculated with based on occupant load density and review of shopping cart's structure and size and maximum escape capacity of the cash counter.

  • Promotion of the line no.2 in Seoul Metro was changing from the existing signaling facilities for ATS(Automatic Train Stop) vehicles to the up-to-date signaling facilities for ATO(Automatic Train Operation). But, in consequence of conducting a trial run after being equipped with the ATO signaling facilities, the matter related to mix-operation with the existing ATS signaling facilities appeared. The operation of the existing ATS signaling system in combination with the ATO signaling system has made improper working related to frequency recognition of the ATS On-board Computerized Equipment. This obstructs operation of a working ATS vehicle. That is, as barring operation of an ATS vehicle that should proceed, it may make the proceeding ATS vehicle stop suddenly and after all, it will cause safety concerns. In this paper, we designed a wayside track occupancy detector that previously prevents improper working related to frequency recognition of the ATS On-board Computerized Equipment by gripping classification and working processes of operating trains throughout transmission of local signaling information from the existing facilities, which does not need to change or replace the existing signaling facilities. Furthermore, we described general characteristics of the wayside track occupancy detector and modeled the IFC(InterFace Contrivance) device and the logical circuit recognizing signal information. Then, we made an application program of PLC(programmable Logic Computer) based on the stated model. We, in relation to data transfer method, used the frame in TCP/IP transfer mode as the standard, and we demonstrated that ATO transmission frequency is intercepted.

Fano Decoding with Timeout: Queuing Analysis

  • In mobile communications, a class of variable-complexity algorithms for convolutional decoding known as sequential decoding algorithms is of interest since they have a computational time that could vary with changing channel conditions. The Fano algorithm is one well-known version of a sequential decoding algorithm. Since the decoding time of a Fano decoder follows the Pareto distribution, which is a heavy-tailed distribution parameterized by the channel signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), buffers are required to absorb the variable decoding delays of Fano decoders. Furthermore, since the decoding time drawn by a certain Pareto distribution can become unbounded, a maximum limit is often employed by a practical decoder to limit the worst-case decoding time. In this paper, we investigate the relations between buffer occupancy, decoding time, and channel conditions in a system where the Fano decoder is not allowed to run with unbounded decoding time. A timeout limit is thus imposed so that the decoding will be terminated if the decoding time reaches the limit. We use discrete-time semi-Markov models to describe such a Fano decoding system with timeout limits. Our queuing analysis provides expressions characterizing the average buffer occupancy as a function of channel conditions and timeout limits. Both numerical and simulation results are provided to validate the analytical results.

  • 몰입형 비디오 부호화를 위한 MIV(MPEG Immersive Video) 표준은 제한된 3D 공간의 다양한 위치의 뷰(view)들을 효율적으로 압축하여 사용자에게 임의의 위치 및 방향에 대한 6 자유도(6DoF)의 몰입감을 제공한다. MIV 의 참조 소프트웨어인 TMIV(Test Model for Immersive Video)에서는 복수의 뷰 간 중복되는 영역을 제거하여 전송할 화소수를 줄이기 때문에 복호화기에서 렌더링(rendering)을 위해서 각 화소의 점유(occupancy) 정보도 전송되어야 한다. TMIV 는 점유맵을 깊이(depth) 아틀라스(atlas)에 포함하여 압축 전송하고, 부호화 오류로 인한 점유 정보 손실을 방지하기 위해 깊이값 표현을 위한 동적 범위의 일부를 보호대역(guard band)으로 할당한다. 이 보호대역을 줄여서 더 넓은 깊이값의 동적 범위를 사용하면 렌더링 화질을 개선시킬 수 있다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 현재 TMIV 의 점유 정보 오류 분석을 바탕으로 이를 보정하는 기법을 제시하고, 깊이 동적 범위 확장에 따른 부호화 성능을 분석한다. 제안기법은 기존의 TMIV 와 비교하여 평균 1.3%의 BD-rate 성능 향상을 보여준다.

Evaluating Comfort of Indoor Environment Based on Residents' Responses (신도시 아파트 거주자의 실내환경 쾌적성 평가)

  • The purpose of this study is to propose a model for evaluating comfort of indoor environment based on residents' subjective respones. The questionnaire survey was given to the residents at apartment complex located in Ilsan, Kyunggi-Do. The following are the results obtained in this thesis. The results of path analysis on comfort revealed that direct effects to comfort were the satisfaction on thermal environment, indoor air environment and sound environment, and the cognition on indoor air environment and sound environment. An evaluation formula of comfort by the factors of direct effects was given. This formula is recommended to evaluate comfort for pp.O.E(post occupancy evaluation)by residents.

A Study on the Optimal Service Level of Exclusive Container Terminals (컨테이너 전용부두의 최적 서비스 수준에 관한 연구)

  • This study analyzes the optimal service levels of exclusive container terminals in terms of the optimal berth occupancy rate and the ships' waiting ratios, based on the number of berths. We develop a simulation model using berth throughput data from pier P, Busan New Port, a representative port in Korea, and apply the simulation results to different numbers of berths. In addition to the above results, we analyze the financial data and costs of delayed ships and delayed cargoes for the past three years from the viewpoints of the terminal operation company (TOC), shipping companies, and shippers to identify the optimal service level for berth occupancy rates that generate the highest net profit. The results show that the optimal levels in the container terminal are a 63.4% berth occupancy rate and 10.6% ship waiting ratio in berth 4,66.0% and 9.6% in berth 5, and 69.0% and 8.5% in berth 6. However, the results of the 2013 study by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries showed significantly different optimal service levels: a 57.1% berth occupancy rate and 7.4% ship waiting ratio in berth 4; 63.4% and 6.6% in berth 5; and 66.6% and 5.6% in berth 6. This suggests that optimal service level could change depending on when the analysis is performed. In other words, factors affecting the optimal service levels include exchange rates, revenue, cost per TEU, inventory cost per TEU, and the oil price. Thus, optimal service levels can never be fixed. Therefore, the optimal service levels for container terminals need to be able to change relatively quickly, depending on factors such as fluctuations in the economy, the oil price, and exchange rates.

Computational Prediction of Solvation Free Energies of Amino Acids with Genetic Algorithm

  • We propose an improved solvent contact model to estimate the solvation free energies of amino acids from individual atomic contributions. The modification of the solvation model involves the optimization of three kinds of parameters in the solvation free energy function: atomic fragmental volume, maximum atomic occupancy, and atomic solvation parameters. All of these atomic parameters for 17 atom types are developed by the operation of a standard genetic algorithm in such a way to minimize the difference between experimental and calculated solvation free energies. The present solvation model is able to predict the experimental solvation free energies of amino acids with the squared correlation coefficients of 0.94 and 0.93 for the parameterization with Gaussian and screened Coulomb potential as the envelope functions, respectively. This result indicates that the improved solvent contact model with the newly developed atomic parameters would be a useful tool for the estimation of the molecular solvation free energy of a protein in aqueous solution.
