  • The modern convenient life formed by industrial development becomes lack of exercise and takes an interest in diet. Specially, professional walking shoes is developed as people take an interest in jogging, Those shoes, professional walking shoes or Dietshoes, increase exercise effects by change of heel types. Therefore, this study investigated motility effects by EMG experiment in order to measure Muscle Activities (MA) while wearing diet shoes (backless). Experiment was conducted by EMG measurement, from calf (gastrocnemius muscle), thigh (vastus muscle) and waist (erector spinae muscle), of 12 high school students. Exercise effects between the two shoes were analyzed by EMG (MF; Median Frequency, MPF; Mean Power Frequency, ZCR; Zero Crossing Rate). Results showed that the Dietshoes(MF: 48.21Hz, MPF: 65.0Hz, ZCR: 100.6Hz) had larger EMG value than that of Normal shoes(MF: 40.47Hz, MPF: 58.04Hz, ZCR: 82.09Hz). Also, in MA, the highest activities are showed in the calf, the second one is in waist, and last one is in thigh during gate. ANOVA between shoes in measurement parts showed significant effects in MF (gastrocnemius: p-value=.022, vastus laterals: p-value=.037, erector spinae: p-value=.082), MPF (gastrocnemius: p-value=.032, vastus laterals: p-value=.046, erector spinae: p-value=.090), and ZCR (gastrocnemius: p-value=.000, vastus laterals: p-value=.004, erector spinae: p-value=.134). And MA of Dietshoes is higher than that of Normal shoes, and decreasing rate of MA in Dietshoes is less than that of Normal shoes. Thus, this study validates exercise effects of Dietshoes.

  • The aim of this study were to establish the clinical references and guidelines for the maximum standardized uptake ($SUV_{max}$) value of pancreatic cancer, pancreatitis, and normal pancreas in $^{18}F-FDG$ PET-CT examinations for pancreatic disease. For this purpose, we performed the statistical analysis on the descriptive statistics, percentiles and inter quartiles range (IQR), normal distribution, and using the probability density function for pancreatic cancer, pancreatitis, and normal pancreas. As a result, the clinical reference of $SUV_{max}$ for the pancreatic cancer, pancreatitis, and normal pancreas was more than 3.45, 1.91 to 2.62, and less than 1.91, respectively. Also, optimal cut-off value for applying the dual time point PET-CT examination was determined to be 2.62. The results of this study are summarized as follows: first, we suggests the clinical reference and guideline for the pancreatic cancer, pancreatitis, and normal pancreas, and second, suggests a scientific approach to improve diagnostic accuracy of pancreatic disease by deviating from an approximate experience approach.

  • The normal stress of TiO2 ER fluid under an electric field showed negative values due to the electrostatic attraction force in the normal direction between particles and the absolute value increased dramatically with electric field strengths. The normal yield stress exhibited E2 dependence similar to the dynamic yield stress, indicating that normal stress can be utilized for evaluating the ER effect. Numerical simulation demonstrated good qualitative agreement with the experimental data and suggested that the decrease in the absolute value of normal stress with increasing shear rates was attributed to the rearrangement of particle configurations under shear.

  • For investigating whether the MARSSIM nonparametric test has sufficient statistical power when a site has a specific contamination distribution before conducting a final status survey (FSS), a novel approach was proposed to predict the release probability of the site. Five distributions were assumed: lognormal distribution, normal distribution, maximum extreme value distribution, minimum extreme value distribution, and uniform distribution. Hypothetical radioactivity populations were generated for each distribution, and Sign tests were performed to predict the release probabilities after extracting samples using Monte Carlo simulations. The designed Type I error (0.01, 0.05, and 0.1) was always satisfied for all distributions, while the designed Type II error (0.01, 0.05, and 0.1) was not always met for the uniform, maximum extreme value, and lognormal distributions. Through detailed analyses for lognormal and normal distributions which are often found for contaminants in actual environmental or soil samples, it was found that a greater statistical power was obtained from survey units with normal distribution than with lognormal distribution. This study is expected to contribute to achieving the designed decision error when the contamination distribution of a survey unit is identified, by predicting whether the survey unit passes the statistical test before undertaking the FSS according to MARSSIM.

  • There are many people who suffer from simulation sickness when immersing in virtual reality. In this study, we analyzed two photoplethysmogram(PPG) parameters - a second derivative parameter and power spectral density ratios - in order to relate PPG parameters with simulation sickness. 36 young, healthy subjects were participated in the experiment, and each subject was equipped with a PPG electrode during his or her immersion. Simulation sickness section was defined as a 7 - second section which starts from the point where a subject reported simulation sickness, and normal section as a same-length section where no physical stimuli was presented to him or her. We compared the PPG parameters of the simulation sickness sections with the normal sections, - d/a ratio is believed to have lower value during vasodilation and higher value during vasoconstriction, however, we could not find much difference in the parameter between normal and simulation sickness sections. We also compared 1 to 10Hz power spectral density ratios in normal sections with in simulation sickness section, and found that 6 density ratios among them have different value. Therefore, the density ratios might be utilized as parameters to detect simulation sickness of subjects.

  • Extreme value theory concerns the distributional properties of the maximum of a random sample; subsequently, it has been significantly extended to stationary random sequences satisfying weak dependence restrictions. We focus on distributional mixing condition $D(u_n)$ and the Berman condition based on covariance among weak dependence restrictions. The former is assumed for general stationary sequences and the latter for stationary normal processes; however, both imply the same distributional limit of the maximum of the normal process. In this paper $D(u_n)$ condition is shown weaker than Berman's covariance condition. Examples are given where the Berman condition is satisfied but the distributional mixing is not.

  • This study was carried out to investigate fatty liver in Korean black goats. Adult female goats were divided into 3 test groups(A, B and C). Group A and B of goats each received 3 test consecutive daily doses of DL-ethionine at 75mg/kg and 150mg/kg body weight, respectively. Group C of goats was given 3 consecutive doses of the compound every 48 hours at 150mg/kg body weight. The clinical symptoms, hematological values, serum chemical values and histopathological study of the liver were investigated in the test animals. The results obtained are as follows ; 1. Fatty liver were observed in every test animal. 2. Some clinical symptoms( anorexia, depression) were appeared from 1st day to 7th day after administration of the compound in every test animal. In addition to these symptoms, diarrhea and salivation were generally observed in test animals which were given the compound at 150mg/kg body weight. The degree of these symptoms was dose dependent. 3. There was no significant variations in total WBC counts and fibrinogen values in the blood of test goats. The PCV values were significantly increased on 5th day of dosing in group A and B of goats. 4. The total lipid value was not changed but the concentration of NEFA was significantly increased on 3rd day of dosing with the compound and returned to normal value after 10 days hereafter. The value of triglycerides was significantly increased on 1st day and returned to normal value on 3rd day of dosing. The value of cholesterol was significantly decreased on 3rd day and returned to normal value on 10th day after treatment. 5. Total protein level was decreased on 10th day of dosing in the groups of B and C, and billirubin level was significantly increased on 7th day of dosing in every test group and returned to normal level after 13th day of administration. 6. The activity of GGT in serum was not changed while the activities of SDH and AST were significantly increased in every test goat and those values were returned to normal after 10~13th day of trestment. 7 The 35K-protein fraction in serum was not detected by SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, but this protein fraction was detected by the same method after treating the 21st and 22nd fraction which were obtained by column chromatography with Sephadex G-100. 8. The affected liver was congested and swollen on 3rd day, and yellowish brown in color and mottled appearance on 7th day of treatment. Histopathologically, fat droplets were common in the hepatocytes, this change was intensive on 7th day after treatment in group B and C. Hepatic cell necrosis was observed in some livers but this pathological change was disappeared and returned to normal after 13 days of treatment.
