The purpose of this study was to find out the ability of coordination of the articulatory motor and the ability of control of the respiration and laryngeal for spastic dysarthria by acoustic analysis. The sustained of vowel /a/ and repetition of syllable /pa/ in 15 normal and 10 spastic dysarthria were measured. Multi-Speech, MDVP, and MSP were used for data recording and analysis. As a result, the mean DDK rate in the spastic group was significantly slower than in the normal. The maximum phonation time in the spastic group ($4.80{\pm}1.94$) was shorter than in the normal ($11.20{\pm}3.72$). The DDKjit in the spastic group was significantly higher than in the normal. The DDKsla was reduced in the spastic group. The mean syllable duration in the spastic group (146.2ms) was significantly longer than in the normal (75.8ms). The mean energy was reduced in the spastic group. The range of Fo was greater than in the normal. The frequency perturbation (jitter, vFo) and amplitude perturbation (shimmer, vAm) were higher than in the normal group. The NHR was higher than in the normal group. The parameters of this were significantly difference between the spastic dysarthria and the normal (p<0.05). Finally, the spastic dysarthria has short respiration, slow speech rate, and voice quality problem. The these results will help to establish a plan and the intervention of treatment.

Purpose Anti-Glutamic acid decarboxylase antibody test (GAD Ab) has been used as a predictor of type 1 diabetes. GAD Ab has also been shown to be highly potent in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) of patients with suspected diabetic peripheral neuropathy. Recently, it has been known that clinical significance of GAD Ab using CSF is useful for the neurological disorders. However, the reference value of anti-GAD Ab has been provided only for serum. In this experiment, we estimated the reference value of anti-GAD antibody for CSF in neurological patients. Materials and Methods A total of 211 neurological patients were enrolled. Serum and CSF were analyzed by radioimmunoassay (RIA) using commercial RIA anti-GAD Ab kit (RSR, London, United Kingdom). Normal saline was used as the normal CSF control because CSF is most similar to 0.9% normal saline. Results The mean value of normal CSF control was 1.97 U/mL, and two standard deviations (2SD) was 1.44 U/mL. Based on this data, the expected reference range of CSF could be estimated from 0.54 U/mL to 3.40 U/mL Conclusion The reference range of normal CSF control using normal saline obtained with Hoffmann's method. However, there will be a need to validate the CSF reference values using human normal CSF.

Purpose: It is very important to establish the appropriate reference range in the laboratory for preventing mistakes like false positive or false negative. Because the reference range in the laboratory is standard of patient test results interpretation. Proinsulin is precursor hormone of insulin, and the importance is increasing for diagnosing diabetes or insulinoma. Proinsulin reagent used in our laboratory is produced in the USA, and the reference range provided by manufacturer was adapted to our reference range after the validation test. But, it is generally recommend for the every laboratory to establish the their own reference range. So, we decided to re-evaluate the reference range with our patients' test results. Materials and Methods: Among 737 patients who had been to health promotion center in our hospital between Dec. $8^{th}$ 2011 and Dec. $21^{st}$ 2011, 563 patients are chosen with exception of diabetics patients and patients showing abnormal test results in Fasting Glucose, HbA1c, Insulin, and C-peptide. The 563 test results (275 males and 288 females) were classified with three groups(entire, male, female), and analysis of normal distribution was performed with aid of SPSS(version 19.0). Because Each group didn't show normal distribution, the reference range was set from the lowest limit of 2.5% to the highest limit of 97.5% with Percentile method used in non-normal distribution. Results: When evaluation values are sorted in ascending order, the entire range is 4.5~52.0 pM and 5.3~51.9 pM for male and 4.5~52.0 pM for female. The calculated reference range with percentile method shows 6.7~26.5 pM for entire group, 6.8~26.5 pM for male and 6.7~26.5 pM for female, respectively. Conclusion: The reference range provided by reagent manufacturer is 6.4~9.4 pM and the one established in this study is 6.7~26.5 pM. This difference might be caused by racial characteristics between Western people and Koreans. So an ideal reference range can be gotten with normal population visiting to every hospital. Our hospital has been using the newly re-establishing reference range under consultation with the department of endocrinology since Aug. $1^{st}$ 2012.

Adhesion in geotechnical engineering is the interaction between cohesive soil and a solid surface which can cause clogging in mechanized tunnelling through clayey formations. Normal piston pull out and modified direct shear tests were performed on clayey soil samples to determine which type of adhesion stress, normal or tangential, could be most effectively measured. Measured values for normal adhesion ranged from 0.9 to 18 kPa. The range of tangential adhesion was 2.4 to 10 kPa. The results indicate normal adhesion results were more accurate than those for the modified direct shear test that measure tangential adhesion. Direct shear test on identical samples did not show any correlation between measured cohesion and normal adhesion values. Normal adhesion values have shown significantly meaningful variation with consistency index and so are compatible with the base of field clogging assessment criteria. But tangential adhesion and cohesion were not compatible with these assessment criteria.
Root canal preparation process is of utmost importance in successful treatment of root canal. Also, one of the most important purpose of the root canal preparation is to enlarge the root canal three dimensionally without changing the curvature of the root canal However as the curvature of the root canal increases, there are many difficulties involved in formation of optimum root canal. Therefore in order to solve the above mentioned problems, new developments in methods of root canal preparation and equipments for such purposes were made. Recently, vigorous studies about newly introduced engine-driven nickel-ti-tanium rotary file are conducted. As shown in research results to dates, it is well established that the use of nickel-titanium file is better suited for curved root canal than stainless steel file in maintaining the curvature or root canal and reducing the deformation of root canal. However it is also acknowledged that there are a few discrepancies in research results according to protocol, due to failure to remove variables in experiments. In addition, although it is recommended by the manufacturer that the GT rotary file should maintain a low rotational speed of 150~350rpm and 'light pressure' as light as not to break the lead of a pencil, academic studies about the vertical force which is not yet standardized are not sufficiently explored. Therefore, this research devised and utilized a special research equipment to standardize the appropriate range of vertical force for GT rotary file through experiments by breaking of the lead of a pencil as expressed by the manufacturer and to accurately measure factors involved through repeating and recreating the environment of root canal preparation. Forming nine experimental groups by varying the vertical forces (150g. 220g, 300g) and rpm (150rpm, 250rpm, 350rpm), the effects of changing vertical forces and rpm on working efficiency were measured in terms of time expended in root canal preparation by crown-down method using a transparent resin block with 35 degree curvature and GT rotary file (z-test). The following research using this special research equipment that involved nine experimental groups and varying the vertical force for root canal preparation from 300g which is within the normal vertical force range to 700g and 1000g which fall outside the normal rpm range. The results were as follows : 1. Analysis of the experiment results revealed that the time spent in root canal preparation decreased as the vertical forces and rpm increased (p<0.05). Also, the effects of rpm were greater than those of the vertical forces within the normal vertical force range ($\beta$-weight test). 2. Observation of the deformation of GT rotary file revealed that deformation increases in a direct correlation with the vertical force increase and in a reverse correlation with the rpm decrease. In the case of the vertical forces close to the normal range, the probability of GT rotary file deformation were quite different depending on the rpm changes. In the case of greater vertical forces, the occurrences of deformation of the file were more frequent regardless of the rpm changes. 3. Deformation and breakage of file were also commonly observed in the expended time measurement experiments and GT rotary file deformation experiments in which low speed rpm (150rpm) was used and at the curved portion of the resin block.

This paper introduces a study for the noise reduction of a range hood for household. Generally, range hoods have a built-in sirocco fan from which rumbling noise is generated. Though the rumbling noise has low noise level. this noise makes most of the users nervous due to the its low frequency characteristics. For the purpose of noise reduction, in this study, a micro-perforated panel system is installed in the fan housing of range hood. From the experimental results, it is confirmed that the noise level emitted from the range hood is decreased over 2dB(A) in all frequency regions due to the effect of noise reduction by micro-perforated panel system.

Purpose: Standard of retests were discrepant and inconsistent due to inaccuracy and lack of standardization within normal range limit of tumor marker test. To enhance the standardization of retests set standard value below normal range and the Order Communication System Quality Control (OCS QC) program was put in place. This program enables managing the results within lower limit of normal range which were used for tumor marker test in Health Center. Materials and Methods: At present the tumor marker study for AFP, CEA, CA19-9, CA125, and PSA included outpatients in Asan Medical Center from February to March, 2009. The standard value was obtained by using the percentage of CV of Inter Assay according to the normal range of each tumor test. The results were confirmed by using the OCS QC program via formatted assessment of screening test such as test items, standard value and medical department. The number of out-of-range results within plus and minus 30 percents regarding the five primary items of tumor marker test was assessed. The next step was to obtain the number of AFP, CEA, and CA125 according to the ratio of comparison between prior and post test result, 60%, 50%, and 40% within normal range, respectively. In addition, set standard value below normal range. Results: The first screening test with percentage of sample number was resulted between 30%-40% and the second one was AFP 26.1%, CEA 18.9%, CA19-9 17.3%, CA125 18.7%, and PSA 21.0% obtained screening percentage of average 20 percents. The limited value of retest was AFP less than 5.0 and more than 10.0, CEA less than 1.0 and more than 3.0, CA19-9 less than 10.0 and more than 30.0, and PSA less than 1.0 and more than 2.0 to set and the number of retest was obtained by applying to the limited value of retest to screening percentage of average 20 percents For two months, the number of retest was AFP 0, CEA 15, CA19-9 3, CA125 2, and PSA 5. Conclusions: Through using the OCS QC program in establishing the standard of retest systemically, there appeared to be reduced discrepancy among the examiners and to be expected improvement in relation to the error of results.
In this paper, the development of a cost-effective active power filter/uninterruptible power supply (APF/UPS) system with seamless mode transfer is described. The proposed scheme employs a pulse-width-modulation (PWM) voltage-source inverter and has two operational modes. First, when the source voltage is normal, the system operates as an APF, which compensates for the harmonics and power factor while boosting the DC-link voltage to be ready for the disturbance, without an additional DC charging circuit. A simple algorithm to detect the load current harmonics is also proposed. Second, when the source voltage is out of the normal range (owing to sag, swell, or outage), it operates a UPS, which controls the output voltage constantly by discharging the DC-link capacitor. Furthermore, a seamless transfer method for the single-phase inverter between the APF mode and the UPS mode is also proposed, in which an IGBT switch with diodes is used as a static bypass switch. Dissimilar to a conventional SCR switch, the IGBT switch can implement a seamless mode transfer. During the UPS operation, when the source voltage returns to the normal range, the system operates as an APF. The proposed system has good transient and steady-state response characteristics. The APF, charging circuit, and UPS systems are implemented in one inverter system. Finally, the validity of the proposed scheme is investigated with simulated and experimental results for a prototype APF/UPS system rated at 3 kVA.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the normal range of condylar movement of normal adults. The author has observed roentgenographic images of four serial positions of condylar head taken by modified transcranail lateral oblique projection. The serial positions are centric occlusion, rest position, 1 inch open position and maximal open position. The results were obtained as follow; 1. Inter-incisal distance was 46.85㎜ in maximal open position. 2. The length between the deepest point of glenoid fossa and summit of condylar head in rest position was wider than that in centric occlusion by 0.8㎜. 3. In 1 inch open position, condylar head moved forward from the standard line in 12.64㎜ of horizontal direction and moved downwards from the standard line in 1.84㎜ of vertical direction. 4. In maximal open position, condylar head moved forward from the standard line in 19.06㎜ of horizontal direction and moved downwards from thestanard line in 0.4㎜ of vertical direction. 5. In centric occlusion, the width between glenoid fossa and margin of condylar head was greater in the posterior portion than in the anterior portion by 0.4㎜. 6. Except for the estimated figures of 1 inch open position, all of the estimated figures was greater in male than in female.
